Chapter 834: Chapter 844 Ambush! (First Update)
Tang Zhong quickly received the news.
Right after destroying one of the branches, he got confirmation from Hu Gego.
"Can’t sit still any longer, huh?" Standing atop a high-rise building.
Tang Zhong lazily gazed ahead, the traffic flowing like a river, with pedestrians bustling back and forth.
Finally, he was going to meet Hu Gego.
Tang Zhong strapped the Tang Sword to his back. This time, no matter what happened, he was determined to slaughter Hu Gego.
"Weiwei, just wait. I will avenge you!"
He walked to the edge of the building and leapt down, just like Spider-Man.
From one building to another, he soared and landed.
For Tang Zhong, feats like these were now mere child’s play.
He was here to challenge Hu Gego, and Hu Gego had accepted the duel. The location was set in the northern region of Ruida State, within a desolate village.
Tang Zhong was now on his way to that village.
As they say, "all’s fair in war," Tang Zhong knew these tactics well. Hu Gego inviting him to this abandoned village surely had ill intentions, likely an ambush.
Tang Zhong was fully aware of this, but so what?
Passing through the bustling metropolis, Tang Zhong quickly reached the suburbs.
The outskirts here were dotted with farms.
Yun Country was a temperate region, so farms were abundant!
With the Tang Sword on his back, Tang Zhong walked forward step by step.
He finally reached the desolate village they had agreed upon.
From afar, the rundown settlement looked just like a ghost town in an old Western movie.
But even from a distance, it was clear the place had been abandoned for a long time.
Garbage was strewn everywhere.
At this moment, a rust-covered road sign appeared by the roadside.
"Woer Town!"
Looks like this was the place!
Tang Zhong’s pace slowed down.
The road was flanked by derelict saloons, with rows of saddles still visible at the entrances.
The surroundings were eerily quiet, the wind stirring up dust and debris.
Tang Zhong observed everything carefully!
The quieter it was, the more something felt off.
From the head of the street all the way to the center, there wasn’t a single soul.
But the wind was growing stronger.
Hu Gego had called him here, so he was definitely around.
As Tang Zhong concentrated deeply.
From within the dilapidated saloons, figures began to emerge, slowly and deliberately.
About forty of them.
Each of them donned military uniforms, broad-shouldered, with weapons strapped to their waists.
As expected, they weren’t alone!
Tang Zhong turned, his eyes scanning the crowd surrounding him.
"You must be Tang Zhong?" One of the men—a muscular Black guy—stepped out, sneering coldly.
"Where’s Hu Gego?" Tang Zhong responded coldly.
"You don’t need to know where he is. All you need to know is that you’re going to die here!" the Black man retorted coldly.
"Oh?" Tang Zhong’s expression relaxed slightly.
Suddenly, more people emerged from the surrounding saloons, but this time, they were armed with machine guns.
Heavy machine guns.
Not only were there men on the ground, but snipers and gunners had taken position on rooftops as well. Their hands gripped not only automatic weapons but high-powered rifles.
What appeared next was a force numbering in the hundreds.
The destructive power of these firearms could easily obliterate a vehicle!
Tang Zhong raised his gaze and scanned his surroundings. He had long anticipated that Hu Gego would try to eliminate him and knew there’d be an ambush. So he wasn’t surprised; instead, he smiled lightly.
"Looks like you’ve really spared no expense to set me up!" Tang Zhong said lazily.
"You killed so many people in our agent division. You should’ve died a hundred times over already!" The Black man snarled, clenching his teeth in fury and raising his hefty machine gun.
Tang Zhong didn’t flinch and said instead, "What I asked was: has Hu Gego arrived yet?"
From his observations, it was clear this Black man wasn’t an insignificant figure within the organization; he should know where Hu Gego was.
It had previously been declared in Yun Country that Hu Gego was dead, but the truth was otherwise—and there had to be reasons behind it.
"You think you’re worthy of meeting Lord Hu Gego? Just die already. Don’t think being Black List’s number one makes you invincible. Against our modern weapons, even the strongest Ability Users fall. I’ve killed plenty of them with my gun!" the Black man sneered.
"Seems... Hu Gego *is* here," Tang Zhong murmured with a smile.
By now, Tang Zhong’s Soul Transformation had heightened his spiritual prowess to an extraordinary level.
He could sense Hu Gego’s presence—it was in one of the saloons ahead.
Inside the saloon, Hu Gego, Giger, and their men were already present.
They weren’t just waiting; they were seated inside, watching scenes unfold on tiny screens.
The entirety of Woer Town had been rigged with surveillance. The moment Tang Zhong stepped into the village, he was under their watch.
Giger and Hu Gego sat next to each other.
"I think if I don’t personally intervene, there’s no way to kill him," Hu Gego murmured.
"Hold on for now. Send in a squad first and see how that goes," Giger replied, his eyes fixed firmly on the screens.
Though Hu Gego had repeatedly offered to take action himself, Giger had consistently held him back.
They’d try modern weapons first. If those failed, then Hu Gego could step in.
"They’re all going to die," Hu Gego said calmly. "That Tang Zhong... he’s very strong."
"Impossible. The moment Tang Zhong makes any move, he’ll be riddled with bullets. There’s no way he can avoid them!" Giger stated, shaking his head in disbelief.
"No, they won’t even get a chance to fire. This man is Black List’s number one; he truly is powerful," Hu Gego replied.
Giger said nothing.
Outside the saloon.
Tang Zhong began to move. Now that he was sure Hu Gego was here, things could proceed.
He slowly unsheathed the Tang Sword from his back.
The Black man scoffed when he saw Tang preparing to draw his blade. "What, still want to try your sword? No matter how fast your blade is, can it outrun a bullet? Want to test that theory?"
The leader’s eyes grew cold.
Then he roared, "Everyone, attack!"
In an instant, the sound of triggers being pulled erupted.
The Black man squeezed the trigger on his handgun, unleashing a flame-drenched bullet from the barrel, speeding toward Tang Zhong.
At the same time, the men wielding Gatlings started firing, their faces twisted into crazed grins.
The rooftop shooters joined in, laughing maniacally as their bullets rained chaos below.
A torrent of bullets—dense as a storm—surged toward Tang Zhong, aiming to reduce him to a bloodied corpse riddled with holes.
Seeing this unfold, Giger grinned. "This is the strength of Black List’s number one? I don’t care about your Black List—all I know is that my guns can solve everything!"
But before Giger could finish his boastful words, his grin froze and vanished.
In that moment, Tang Zhong’s Tang Sword swung into action, its speed transcending human sight. Blades of light flashed everywhere, accompanied by an incessant clanging noise.
The sound was that of bullets being deflected.
In no time, Tang Zhong stopped his motion, standing still.
Moments later, the bullets that had been fired fell like rain to the ground, scattering harmlessly.
At that instant, every face surrounding Tang Zhong turned pale.
