Su Chengyu gasped, stunned. This was an unexpected revelation. "You and my grandfather had such a... unique relationship?" He asked in surprise.

"Do you have any idea why I did not kill you on sight, but instead brought you here?" The Green Fox queried.

Su Chengyu shook his head again. This had indeed been puzzling him; the Green Fox had suddenly appeared before him, and instead of attacking, had begun conversing with him. This was certainly not the normal behavior of the Demon Clan towards the Human Clan.

The Green Fox had been too friendly towards him from the very beginning.

"Honestly, I had intended to kill you at first. But when I approached you, I detected hints of my Fox Clan’s bloodline in you. It was a royal bloodline, the kind only possessed by someone from the imperial lineage of the Fox Clan," explained the Green Fox.

"Impossible! I am human, not a demon. How could I have the aura of a Fox Clan member? Are you talking about fox-smell? Because I definitely don’t smell like a fox!"

Su Chengyu’s face changed. The Green Fox claiming to be his grandfather’s romantic rival had not surprised him as much as this assertion that he carried the bloodline of the Fox Clan did. Did this mean he was part demon?

The Green Fox delivered this stunning piece of news which completely turned Su Chengyu’s understanding of his own identity upside down, stirring a maelstrom of thoughts in his mind.

Su Chengyu was shocked. If what the Green Fox said was true, then he was a half-blood, part human and part demon. Even though he had no prejudice against the Demon Clan, the idea that he himself was part demon was a shocking revelation.

"No! It’s not true! You are lying." Su Chengyu vehemently rejected the news.

"What’s not right?" The Green Fox asked casually.

"My grandfather was the first Sect Master of the Demon Slayer Department, which he founded. Their sole purpose was to slay demons. There’s no way he would marry a fox demon, especially not the Empress of the Fox Clan," Su Chengyu said, incredulous.

"Who told you that the Demon Slayer Department solely kills demons? Your grandfather did indeed found the Demon Slayer Department, but it slays wicked demons causing havoc. The Demon Slayer Department was never intended to start animosity between humans and demons, aiming to slaughter the Demon Clan. Why did his grandfather end up in such a hopeless state, and where is his grandmother now?
