Chapter 422: Chapter 422: Overnight Stay_1

"Having descendents is a big responsibility too, are you considering being DINK (Double Income No Kids)?" Su Chengyu joked.

Xia Ruolan pursed her lips, "When we were young, my husband and I were both busy with work and didn’t want children. When we finally decided we wanted them, I was diagnosed with infertility. So, we never had kids and even our relationship has waned over time."

Su Chengyu remarked, "With today’s medical advancements, infertility isn’t hard to treat."

Xia Ruolan replied bitterly, "We have tried many medicines and methods of treatment, but to no avail. Maybe I am just not meant to be a mother. Let’s not talk about this. Just sit and relax while I prep for dinner."

As Xia Ruolan was heading towards the kitchen, Su Chengyu thought to himself that he should help Teacher Xia. Infertility may be incurable for some, but it wasn’t an impossible task for him.

No wonder Teacher Xia seemed so gloomy when he first met her. It must be because she couldn’t conceive which affected her marital relationship.

Back then, Su ChengYu considered Teacher Xia as the woman of his dreams. Meeting her after ten years, she’s still as beautiful and graceful as ever. She has matured and has an intellectual charm about her, curves more voluptuous than ever.

Su Chengyu chuckled to himself, wondering how the students could concentrate with a teacher like old Xia standing at the lecture podium. They must all have endless fantasies about her.

Every male student, to some extent, has a crush on their teachers, especially when the teacher is as young and attractive as Xia Ruolan. It’s quite normal for high school boys.

"Teacher Xia, let me help you in the kitchen," Su Chengyu walked into the kitchen and said.

No need. Go watch TV and relax, I will be done soon."

Xia Ruolan gently pushed Su Chengyu out of the kitchen. He watched as she busied herself, her actions reminding him of Gu Ying’s culinary busyness.

He suddenly realized what differentiated Xia Ruolan and Gu Ying from Xu Nanzhi and Lin Chuxue.

Apart from the obvious contrast in looks, they had an earthy charm. Xu Nanzhi and Lin Chuxue were godlike creatures, while Gu Ying and Xia Ruolan were beauties who embodied earthly charm.

Su Chengyu helped Xia Ruolan set the table, uncorking a bottle of red wine. The dishes might be simple, but the ambiance was unique in its own way.

"There aren’t many dishes, but they are all my specialties. Don’t be too critical. Tomorrow, I will take you out for a grand meal," Xia Ruolan said.

"Don’t be silly, it’s an honor for me to taste the food cooked by Teacher Xia herself. If my classmates got to know about this, they would definitely be green with envy."

Su Chengyu was never a picky eater and took no special interest in grand meals.

For a cultivator, the best flavors came from the spiritual energy of nature and various elixirs, and worldly food cravings held no strong appeal.

However, meals cooked personally by Teacher Xia had a taste of their own.

"Flattery gets you nowhere. It’s a good thing you weren’t this smooth-talker when you were a student. Otherwise, the young girls in school would have been a disaster," Xia Ruolan joked.

"Those are heartfelt words, Teacher Xia. To all the male students at our school, you’re the woman of their dreams. Allow me to toast to our meet-up after ten years and the privilege to taste your cooking," Su Chengyu said, raising his glass.

"Likewise, I’m happy to meet a student from my first batch. Moreover, you were my favorite student."

Xia Ruolan also raised her wine glass and clinked it against his.

The two continued eating and chatted about a multitude of topics. Since they hadn’t met in ten years, there were plenty of things to catch up on. Su Chengyu’s humor-filled and intelligent conversation had always been appreciated by Xia Ruolan, a literature teacher.

Xia Ruolan inquired about Su Chengyu’s current job, and he mentioned running a small business.

"Teacher Xia, I heard of a Divine Doctor Jiang Qi in Huaizhou. He is renowned for his skills. Have you consulted him yet?" asked Su Chengyu.

"My husband took me there. He provided medication as well but it didn’t work," Xia Ruolan responded.

Su Chengyu found it strange. With Jiang Qi’s medical skills, infertility shouldn’t be an issue.

"Would it be fine if I take your pulse and check your health later?" Su Chengyu asked.

"You know medical skills?" said Xia Ruolan.

"A little. The fact that even Jiang Qi couldn’t cure this disease makes me even more intrigued," said Su Chengyu.

"There’s no need. I’ve given up hope," Xia Ruolan declined him. Su Chengyu didn’t insist further, but he planned to inquire about her condition from Jiang Qi later.

The two finished a bottle of red wine. Xia Ruolan, with a much lower tolerance for alcohol, seemed a bit tipsy. Her rosy cheeks and hazy eyes added to her mature charm.

Su Chengyu helped Xia Ruolan clean up the tableware. As Xia Ruolan slipped on the kitchen floor, she was about to fall back. Su Chengyu, with a fast reaction, held her around her waist. This prevented her from falling, but the tableware in his hand dropped and shattered.

Xia Ruolan half-lay in Su Chengyu’s arms as their eyes met and they gazed at each other momentarily.

Su Chengyu swallowed, feeling dryness in his throat. Xia Ruolan quickly turned away, breaking away from the confrontation of their mesmerizing eyes.

The atmosphere suddenly became suggestive and a bit awkward.

As Su Chengyu put down the dishes, said, "Teacher, be careful."

"Mhmm..." Xia Ruolan blushed even harder now, the redness extending to her ears and neck as well.

"You can go out and rest for a while. I’ll clean this up."

After Su Chengyu left the kitchen, Xia Ruolan patted her chest bulging under her shirt, sighing a breath of relief. She hadn’t felt such excitement in years.

Once she had cleaned up the kitchen, she made two cups of tea and sat next to Su ChengYu, telling him, "You can’t drive since you’ve had alcohol. You may stay here tonight."

"That’s not necessary. I can call for a driver," Su Chengyu said.

"Why be formal with your teacher? I have guest rooms."

Upon seeing Xia Ruolan’s insistence, Su Chengyu agreed. They chatted for a while before he decided to take a shower as he saw her growing tired. He had just finished his shower and got out when the door to Xia Ruolan’s place opened.

Xia Ruolan’s husband, Li Wanpeng, was back and ran into Su Chengyu coming out of the bathroom.

Upon sighting a strange man in the house as soon as he entered, Li Wanpeng’s face darkened even further.

"Who are you? Why are you in my house?" barked out Li Wanpeng angrily.

"I am..." Su Chengyu began to explain, but was immediately cut off by Li Wanpeng.

"Xia Ruolan, get out here now! How could you? Carrying out an affair brazenly in our house and making a fool of me!" shouted Li Wanpeng.

Xia Ruolan, who was just changing into her sleepwear in the bedroom, came running out upon hearing the commotion.
