Chapter 332: Chapter 332 You Can’t Make the Decision_1
Gu Ying drove back to the company, then went to the bus stop to catch a public transport and headed off to pick up her daughter from school.
Sitting on the bus, Gu Ying saw Su Chengyu’s number on the ride-hailing app and stored it in her phone.
When Su Chengyu initially stepped forward to be her witness, although Gu Ying was grateful, she also thought that he might be just trying to play the hero to win her favor, definitely with some ulterior motives.
But in the end, Su Chengyu didn’t ask for her name, nor asked for her contact details, much less provide his own. He just walked away.
Gu Ying then realized she had overthought the situation.
This Mr. Su Cheng truly stood up for justice and was a real man!
Su Chengyu took a taxi to the Hengtong Auction Company’s office. The receptionist immediately attended to him as he revealed his intention to auction something.
The receptionist led Su Chengyu into one of the company’s lounge rooms to wait.
Hengtong Auction Company had a dedicated process for accepting auction items. They had appraisal experts who first assessed items to determine their auction value.
Hengtong Auction Company offered two schemes. After appraisal, one scheme involves negotiating with the owner to purchase the item directly. However, if owners reject their appraisal price, the item can be put on auction instead, with a proportion of the proceeds going to the company as commission.
After Su Chengyu sat down for a bit, a reception manager carrying a tablet entered the lounge room, and asked, "Mr. Su, what items do you wish to sell? I will register them and make a preliminary assessment. If the items are indeed valuable, I will arrange for an appraisal by a big master."
"Elixir." Su Chengyu calmly said.
"What?" The manager didn’t react immediately.
An elixir made by a cultivator," Su Chengyu elaborated without any change in his expression.
Upon hearing this, the manager completely understood. Working as a professional manager at the Hengtong Auction Company, he had seen all sorts of rare and unique items for auction – ancient artifacts, calligraphic works, valuable swords and jade artifacts, precious medicinal materials, and even magic artifacts. However, elixirs were yet to cross his path.
Elixirs made by cultivators were exceptionally valuable and were rarely circulated in the market. Even if available, they wouldn’t easily be sold openly.
"May I know what kind of elixir it is?" The manager asked after taking a deep breath.
"A Spirit Yuan Pill, an Eternal-youth Pill and a Yuan-increasing Pill, one of each."
Su Chengyu pulled out three wooden boxes and placed them on the table. When he opened the boxes, a unique medicinal scent permeated the room. The manager took a breath of it and immediately felt refreshed and rejuvenated.
"My capability isn’t adequate for assessing this. Mr. Su, please wait while I invite the company’s chief appraiser to personally attend to you."
Taking this situation seriously, the manager demonstrated utmost respect towards Su Chengyu and quickly left to fetch the chief appraiser.
Before long, an elderly man with his hair graying was requested to the scene by the manager.
"Mr. Su, this is Master Tang Rummin, the chief appraiser at our Hengtong Auction Company. He is also a well-known appraisal master in Jiangdong province whose accuracy in appraising antiques and calligraphy is unmatched," introduced the manager.
Su Chengyu gave a slight nod. From Tang Rummin’s expressions, it was clear that he was excited. The allure of the elixirs was too great.
"May I get a look at your elixirs, Mr. Su?" asked Tang Rummin.
Su Chengyu gave a slight nod in response, and Tang Rummin immediately sat down. With excitement and anticipation, he opened the box and the unique medicinal scent, once again, filled the room.
Tang Rummin carefully examined the elixirs in the box, sniffing their scent and even inspecting them closely with a magnifying glass.
"Indeed, these are the sort of elixirs only a cultivator could make. But as for their specific effects, would you mind explaining, Mr. Su?" Tang Rummin asked.
"The Yuan-increasing Pill can prolong a common man’s lifespan by five to ten years though the effects may vary from person to person. The Spirit Yuan Pill is greatly beneficial to martial arts practitioners, it can directly propels the potential of, for instance, a ninth grade martial arts master to the level of a Martial Arts Grandmaster. The Eternal-youth Pill has beauty and youth preserving functions, far outperforming any beauty product in the market. Consuming one can make one appear ten years younger. Consuming three can preserve one’s youth forever and delay aging."
Both Tang Rummin and the manager were left speechless when they heard about the effects of these three elixirs. If the elixirs were to get on the market, they would surely ignite a buying frenzy.
The Yuan-increasing Pill and the Eternal-youth Pill in particular were extremely valuable for ordinary people.
Who wouldn’t want to live a few more years or maintain their youth forever?
The two swallowed their saliva and said, "These truly are amazing elixirs made by cultivators! Were these elixirs made by Mr. Su or did you get them from somewhere else?"
"That’s none of your business." Su Chengyu replied coldly.
"My apologies, my question was indeed inappropriate. However, we commoners can’t accurately evaluate or authenticate these elixirs. Thus, it’s hard to estimate their value," said Tang Rummin truthfully.
"You don’t have to evaluate them precisely. I only want your company to put these three elixirs up for auction at tomorrow’s auction."
"This... Everything we auction carries a guarantee from our company. If we auction these elixirs and they don’t have the purported effects when taken, it will affect our reputation and we’ll also have to pay compensation. I have a proposal that you might want to consider," said Tang Rummin.
Su Chengyu nodded slightly, signalling Tang Rummin to continue. "You can quote a price for these three elixirs and sell them to us directly. If the price is right, we’ll buy them and bear any consequences regarding their authenticity and profit or loss."
"I’ll only sell these at the auction. It seems that you can’t make the final decision. "
Su Chengyu pulled out a pen from the table, wrote his contact details on paper and said, "This is my contact information and address. Let your boss contact me."
Su Chengyu packed up and stood to leave. Despite Tang Rummin’s strenuous efforts to retain him and negotiate a price, Su Chengyu ignored him.
"Master Tang, what should we do? Could this person be a cultivator?" The manager asked.
"He probably isn’t a cultivator, perhaps he somehow got a hold of these three elixirs. I’ll contact President Chen immediately and let him decide."
Tang Rummin didn’t dither. He went into his office and immediately reported to Chen Yuanheng over the phone.
Chen Yuanheng was taken aback when he heard someone had elixirs for auction.
"Are you sure they are real elixirs?" Chen Yuanheng asked.
"Yes, I am certain! I won’t get this wrong, but I can’t ascertain their exact effects," answered Tang Rummin.
Chen Yuanheng pondered for a moment and said, "Tell me his contact details and address. I will personally go and verify this. If things are as he claims, I must get those three elixirs!"
Chen Yuanheng is a martial arts practitioner, both the Spirit Yuan Pill and Yuan-increasing Pill might be useful to him. Furthermore, the Eternal-youth Pill is also valuable and worth collecting.
