Chapter 940 - 940 926 Escape from Danger
Chapter 940: Chapter 926: Escape from Danger Chapter 940: Chapter 926: Escape from Danger Po Ren had crossed swords with Jiang Zhuge before, and even killed him twice. The martial arts of this brat were clearly superior to Jiang Zhuge’s, surpassing his own. An energy wave like a clear sky thunderbolt rushed towards him, like a giant monster stirring up leaves and sand from the ground. Following a Dragon Roar, the explosion came.
He dared not be careless and shouted loudly as he cut down with his sword. Boom! An impact wave still shook him.
“Who the hell are you?” Po Ren couldn’t believe there was someone this powerful in the Demon Domain.
“Heh, are you perhaps wishing for me to marry your daughter who’s yet to be wed? Dream on. Judging by your looks, she must be unspeakably ugly,” Ye Chen chuckled and then signaled the people behind him, preparing to make their escape.
“Brat, don’t be arrogant. Do you really think I can’t deal with you?”
“I think besides farting, you’re pretty much useless.”
Po Ren hurriedly ordered his men to release a huge monster, hoping to entangle Ye Chen.
Ye Chen certainly wasn’t going to waste time with them.
“Get ready to escape.”
Ye Chen took advantage of the moment before they could release the monster to strike out with several slashes, blasting those about to charge at him.
Although Jiang Zhuge and Kong Sha were far away, the booming sounds continuously transmitted to them were clear, and they could discern that a fight had broken out over there.
For the somewhat despondent Jiang Zhuge, as he pondered what to do, the booming sounds seemed to suggest that someone was trying to come to their aid.
Kong Sha said, “It seems a fight has broken out.”
Jiang Zhuge listened carefully and then said, “There don’t seem to be many people.”
It obviously wasn’t very fierce.
Upon hearing this, Kong Sha replied, “But that also means someone is preparing to come to our aid.”
Indeed, but who could it be?
Kong Sha spoke, “Even though it sounds like there are few people, maybe it’s just a small test, and who knows if there’ll be more coming later? It’s hard to say.”
Jiang Zhuge looked at Kong Sha, thinking there was some sense to that.
Kong Sha continued, “If people from the Demon Domain really come to help, it will be much easier for us to break out.”
For them, receiving help would greatly increase their chances of successfully breaking free. They hastily said, “Send the Winged Dragon to see what’s happening.”
Even though the Tianye Demon’s Winged Dragons controlled the airspace above their heads, it didn’t mean that the New City Sect had lost their ability to fight back. They hadn’t retaken the skies because they wanted to conserve their strength, especially now when they hadn’t figured out how to break out. Conserving strength was their reluctant choice.
Kong Sha added, “If people from the Demon Domain really do come and can coordinate with us, we can break out easily.”
Jiang Zhuge had to understand clearly what was going on first and see what the situation was. They had been sealed in there for many days, nearly unable to contact the outside. Although he could send messages by carrier pigeon, the Demon Domain was in a terrible state, and people from the Wastelands couldn’t possibly rush over to help them.
Jiang Zhuge calmed down somewhat.
Kong Sha commented, “We were almost in despair, but finally, there’s some good news. This will definitely boost the morale of our disciples.”
Jiang Zhuge was noticeably more composed and said, “We can’t get excited too early. We must remain steady. The last thing we should do is panic. The more anxious we get, the more likely things will go wrong.”
Kong Sha nodded in agreement.
“Follow our plan and try to stall them first.”
For Jiang Zhuge, if he really couldn’t figure out how to escape, he was prepared for a final showdown with the Sky Demon. He knew how formidable the Tianye Demon was, but if he couldn’t find a solution, this was his only option. They couldn’t just sit there waiting to die.
Fortunately, they didn’t have many people. Ye Chen had burst out, but how could Po Ren let him escape easily? Like a mad dog, Po Ren pursued them, slashing wildly, one move more ferocious than the next, continuously unleashing energy in a frenzied spate.
Ye Chen was somewhat overwhelmed, and at any moment, he could have got chopped up, unable to let this mad dog bombard them haphazardly like this, tangled up and struggling to escape.
“Give me two packs of gunpowder. You all hurry and go, I’ll drive this guy back and quickly catch up,” Ye Chen said, catching two packs of gunpowder the size of human heads.
After using Swift Movement Technique to dodge Po Ren’s frenzied attack, Ye Chen immediately followed up with a wild downward slash, releasing several bolts of lightning. Po Ren also unleashed several waves of his sword. Boom! Boom! Boom! The trees between them were devoured by the released energy.
Ye Chen unleashed chaotic moves, causing fire to streak all around, lightning to race wildly, and thick smoke to billow.
It was both sword waves and lightning, with a few Green Dragons thrown in for good measure. Boom! Boom…
The explosions made it impossible to distinguish between north, south, east, and west; black smoke rose all around.
Ye Chen quickly lit the gunpowder and threw it over, then made a dash for it.
The people with Po Ren, seeing no attacks coming their way and the area now a dim haze, didn’t expect that the bunch would get away and prepared to charge through the thick smoke. Just then, the gunpowder exploded.
Boom, boom, boom, seven or eight disciples were blown to smithereens. If Po Ren hadn’t been agile and quick on his feet, he too would have been buried amongst the billowing smoke.
After the smoke cleared and it was certain there was no danger, those people had long vanished without a trace.
Po Ren was obviously unwilling to let it go and clamored, “No matter what it takes, you must find that kid for me. We can’t let him get away just like that.”
Ye Chen glanced at the sky, thankful that darkness was soon to fall. Once night came, he would be safe and could plan on scaling the cliff.
Having caused a commotion all day, he was ravenously hungry. He found a cave on the mountainside cliff to prepare for tonight’s rest.
The roaring of strange beasts above intermittently pierced the silence.
The danger was not completely gone.
“This is the spot. After we eat, we’ll deal with whatever comes after it gets dark.”
Those few men had also narrowly escaped death and were drained of their spirits.
At last, they had shaken them off.
The mountains grew quiet once more, and the continuous calls of small animals could be heard. After eating, Ye Chen prepared to rest. He planned to make a move after midnight when everyone would be sleepy, making it less likely for him to be discovered.
Po Ren wandered the mountains for half the day but failed to find Ye Chen again, so he had no choice but to return to the Tianye Demon.
The Silver Moon Fox was somewhat surprised. After a whole day of killing at the back mountain, and only one person was involved? How could one person anger Po Ren to such an extent? This was rare. She asked, “Third Brother, what happened?”
“That little bastard got away,” Po Ren said dejectedly.
“Little bastard? So many of you couldn’t catch just one person?” She was almost incredulous, knowing full well that Po Ren’s martial arts were not weak – average people were not his match. To believe that a mere youngster could be a match for Po Ren was something she found hard to believe.
Then, one of the subordinates behind her said, “Not one person, but eleven.”
Catching on, the Tianye Demon asked, “What exactly happened?”
Only then did Po Ren say, “It was eleven people. There must have been someone who used the Big White Eagle to cross the cliff and set up a rope. The others came across with the aid of that rope.”
“And you lot couldn’t take them down?” the Tianye Demon asked, surprised.
“That kid’s martial arts are very high. He’s using the Moonlight Fairy’s Moonlight Sword, definitely superior to mine. Moreover, the kid didn’t want to tangle with us. After about a dozen moves against him, without assurance of victory, that guy broke through our encirclement, taking those people with him. Of course, I couldn’t just let him get away, but his martial arts really are exceptional. He used both dragons and lightning, yet still I managed to pin him down. But then the kid played a trick, disorienting us to the point where we couldn’t tell directions, setting off several explosives. I was nearly blasted, and he escaped.”
Po Ren continued, “If he hadn’t set off those explosives, I definitely wouldn’t have let them escape. But now, with the sky this dark, they’re hard to find, so I had no choice but to return.”
“So they’re already hiding somewhere in the forest behind the mountain, and we still have no idea what they really came here to do,” the Silver Moon Fox said.
Po Ren nodded.
Looking at the Tianye Demon, the Silver Moon Fox asked, “Boss, what should we do now?”
As night had already fallen and searching was futile, the Tianye Demon said, “Let’s wait until daylight to make our move.”
“What on earth are these guys here for?” The Silver Moon Fox’s question made the Tianye Demon more cautious. But with the darkness enveloping everything, it was indeed hard to search, and asked, “Are they from the Demon Domain?”
“Yes, they should be from the Demon Domain,” Po Ren said. “Otherwise, I’ll continue the search.”
“But the back mountain is so vast; how could you search? And now with the darkness, the back mountain is nothing but wild woods, hard to search through. We also have to be vigilant out front. Let it go for now, and as long as they don’t come up front, we can talk more tomorrow.”
Po Ren could only nod in agreement.
“Third Brother, don’t feel dejected. They got away this time, but next time, we’ll catch them,” the Silver Moon Fox said.
“I don’t know what these people are really here for,” Po Ren said with suspicion.
Perplexed, the Silver Moon Fox speculated, “Could they be trying to meet with someone from the New City Sect on the other side?”
“It’s possible. That kid is definitely not a simple character. His martial arts might even be on par with the Boss.”
Hearing this, the Silver Moon Fox commented, “Is that so? In the Demon Domain, someone with such high martial arts? I’ve heard that after the Sect Leader of the New City Sect died, there weren’t many left with high martial arts, same for the Demon Domain.”
“I’m not sure. It’s still best to be cautious.”
Stroking his chin, the Tianye Demon was also in doubt. Perhaps these few really did intend to move up front. If so, what exactly were they planning to do there, help the people in front!
“Are you certain it was only one person?” the Tianye Demon asked.
“Yes, I am certain,” Po Ren confirmed.
