Chapter 935 - 935 921 Longhuns Narrow Escape from Death

Chapter 935: Chapter 921: Longhun’s Narrow Escape from Death Chapter 935: Chapter 921: Longhun’s Narrow Escape from Death Ling Li clung desperately to Longhun, her agile sword coming in for the kill with a “Unity of Thousand Swords” and “Scattering Blossoms of the Heavenly Maiden.”

Though Longhun was injured, he was not without the ability to fight back, and his Internal Power had always been profound. The wounds he sustained were bearable for him. What was crucial was that the mad dog Su Zhanze was no longer present. He did not fear Ling Li and had the help of several mysterious figures to deal with the four top experts of Slaughter Island. He just needed to find the right moment to escape.

He was somewhat in disarray, but he still had a chance.

One hour had passed when suddenly there was a commotion up ahead. It turned out to be Slaughter Saint arriving with a group of people. When Slaughter Saint realized Longhun was in danger, he couldn’t ignore it. He knew the importance of Longhun; if Longhun were to die, even killing Fang Ziren would be pointless as the Dragon Slaying Clan would need time to deal with the aftermath of Longhun’s death.

Then they would have to decide who would take his place, so it was imperative that nothing happened to Longhun; he must be rescued.

With a surge of reinforcements, they pressed forward. By now, four of the seven mysterious individuals had died, leaving only three who were also gravely injured. But Longhun had received his rescue.

The arrival of Slaughter Saint, along with dozens of men, pressed in, causing Ling Li to realize the situation was dire. Despite fighting for half a day, they had not succeeded—primarily because they were too few in number.

Ma Jun advanced, with seven or eight of his men killed. Continuing like this was out of the question, and he said, “Brother, as long as the green hills are there, we won’t worry about firewood to burn.”

The tide had turned, and Ling Li had no choice but to shout, “Fine, let’s go.”

Shi Xueqin stood coldly to the side, as if her soul had left her body, unconscious.

Ling Li had no option but to escape with her.

Slaughter Saint managed to save Longhun.

Longhun, having narrowly escaped death, muttered resentfully, “Dammit, Su Zhanze actually joined forces with Ling Li to bring the four top experts of Slaughter Island to kill me. How wishful. Su Zhanze, that mad dog, still wants to kill me.”

“As long as you are alright,” Slaughter Saint expressed his relief, nearly too pleased to speak, upon saving Longhun.

“Rest assured, my life is not so easily taken. They’re delusional,” Longhun said with a cold smile, taking pleasure in the thought of that mad dog.

“You should have informed us, so we wouldn’t have worried.”

“I didn’t expect Su Zhanze to collude with Ling Li. Damn, we must chase down Ling Li,” Longhun declared.

“I thought Ling Li was dead?”

“Nonsense. That guy bribed our people, faked his death to deceive me—it wasn’t his corpse. He was alive and standing right in front of me just now, didn’t you see?” Longhun was furious, nearly exploding with rage, as though he could take flight, his eyes seeming ready to pop out.

“As long as you’re unharmed, that’s all that matters.”

“What are you doing with Jing Po here?”

“I was worried about your safety,” Slaughter Saint explained, knowing Longhun was injured and that nothing was more important than him being alive.

“Have them pursue Ling Li!” Longhun demanded, nearly too angry for words.

“Okay, we will definitely chase Ling Li. First, you go back and rest,” Slaughter Saint suggested as he and Longhun disappeared into the dense forest.

Unnoticed, the day had turned to night.

Fang Ziren and Xuan Wen had barely managed to escape. They naturally went as far as they could until it was completely dark, ensuring no one was following, before they could relax.

After enduring for two whole days, nearly succumbing to despair, they finally saw hope again. They had no desire to fall back into being surrounded.

Xuan Wu asked, “What in the world happened? Why didn’t we see Longhun and Slaughter Saint?”

“Isn’t it better that we didn’t see them? If they were there, we might not have been able to escape,” some of the disciples remarked.

Xuan Wen glanced around and said, “I think everyone is tired. They won’t come after us now. Let’s rest here and continue our journey tomorrow.”

Upon hearing this, Fang Ziren nodded, visibly excited. Naturally, he was excited—having escaped the encirclement, and the price paid wasn’t too steep. They had narrowly escaped death in a moment of desperation; how could he not be thrilled?

“Alright, let’s rest here.”

Xuan Wen made arrangements, setting people to take turns on watch, while others prepared food and got ready to rest, thoroughly sorting everything out.

At that moment, they were still within the forest.

Fang Ziren finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He asked Gu Xueyun to assist Xuan Wen in setting things up.

He trusted Xuan Wen; they were all thrilled to be alive and out.

No longer needing to worry about being encircled by the Dragon Slaying Clan, they were so happy that they were lost for words. Now, the only thing to do was find a way to quickly reach Heavenly City.

The disciples were preparing food, relaxing for the first time in three days—up until now, they had been on tenterhooks.

Su Zhanze, his qi in disarray, was barely conscious. He had to deal with the Fire Mastiff and eevil energies without any help, which was extremely troublesome. Now in a semi-conscious state, he was occasionally in control, only to have the Fire Mastiff seize control suddenly, leaving him half-awake and in immense discomfort. He wanted to suppress it, but his power was insufficient. Despite having the Heavenly Pearl, his concentration was utterly fragmented at the moment.

He roared and cried out as if he had gone mad, needing to find someone to help him. If someone was willing to help, maybe he could be subdued, maybe there was still hope for salvation. Otherwise, he could go mad at any moment.

Xuan Wen finally managed to sit down as the night grew deeper.

With only half his consciousness, Su Zhanze and the Fire Mastiff, eager to escape, suddenly spotted a group of figures—not wrong, it was Fang Ziren and the others; they had truly managed to escape as per his plan.

With a roar, Su Zhanze leaped out, his whole body enveloped in flames.

Fang Ziren and Xuan Wen, who were eating, were startled, assuming that Longhun had come back to attack with reinforcements. On closer inspection, they saw a figure enveloped in red, looking like a ghost possessed, uncertain if it was a human or a spirit.

Su Zhanze’s roars intermittently conveyed, “Save me… save me…”

Gu Xueyun said, “It seems to be Su Zhanze.”

Xuan Wu said, “It looks like he’s already succumbed to demonic possession.”

“He still seems to have a bit of consciousness left,” Xuan Wen said.

Upon hearing it was Su Zhanze, Fang Ziren immediately became furious and shouted, “This mad dog, he dares to come looking for us, after killing my men, I was just about to seek revenge.” He flew over, aiming a palm strike at him.

The subordinates behind spoke up, “We need to rid of this menace. If he succumbs to demonic possession, he’ll be nothing but trouble. We should eliminate him as soon as possible.”

Xuan Wen said, “If we don’t save him, he’ll succumb to demonic possession.

Fang Ziren snorted disdainfully.

Su Zhanze, with only a shred of consciousness, continued to bellow, “I didn’t… I didn’t kill them.”

“You haven’t killed them yet? You crippled several of my disciples, some flew off a cliff, and you led an attack on the Demon Palace, directly defecting to Longhun to come after us, you nearly made dumplings out of us.” Fang Ziren sent out a palm strike, bringing down several trees behind him.

At this point, Su Zhanze was still shouting, “Save me…”

Xuan Wen, unsure of what to do, ran over and said, “If we don’t save him, he’s beyond salvation.”

“Why save such a menace? To have him kill our disciples?” Fang Ziren pushed Xuan Wen aside with a palm strike and once again lunged at Su Zhanze, sending him flying turbulent through the air.

The Fire Mastiff on Su Zhanze sensed danger and seized control of Longhun, spitting out a Fireball.

Gu Xueyun quickly deflected it with a palm strike, and Su Zhanze lost control.

“Good, kill him and save further harm,” Fang Ziren said in anger, not caring whether Su Zhanze was truly consumed by demonic possession. Ignoring Su Zhanze’s cries for help, he landed another palm strike on him. Like a man possessed, Su Zhanze was overwhelmed by the Fire Mastiff, and with Fang Ziren’s blow, he was sent flying toward the cliff. With a howling sound and a trail of flames, he disappeared into the shrubbery beneath the cliff.

Finally, Fang Ziren’s grudge was settled, and he went on to say, “Such a disgrace, causing the deaths of so many from the Demon Palace, defecting to Longhun, opposing us, should’ve been eliminated long ago. Let’s see who else dares to defect to the Dragon Slaying Clan.”

Ling Li, leading his group, hurriedly fled, uncertain where they ended up or what had happened. All they heard was a roar, and a fireball-like object fell from above, smashing into a tree that erupted into flames.

Ma Jun rushed over to find out what had happened, only to see a figure leaping out from the midst of the blaze.

Shouting and rolling on the ground, he struggled like a live loach thrown into a pot, desperately calling for help, his entire face burnt to a branding iron red.

Ling Li quickly signaled Shi Xueqin to back off.

Su Zhanze continued to call out, in excruciating pain, a cry that seemed to come from hell itself.

Ma Jun confirmed, “It’s Su Zhanze. He seems on the verge of demonic possession.”

Ling Li shook his head, “Not yet, he should still have some consciousness.”

“If we don’t save him, he’s beyond salvation,” the Green Dragon from behind said.

“Don’t bother saving him. He’s just a man from Immortal City. Let him die,” Ma Jun declared.

Yet they had allied together just today, and had almost killed Longhun. It seemed Ling Li no longer hated this man that much and said, “Save him.”

Apprentice brother, why save him?”

Su Zhanze was still desperately pleading for his life, the pain etching his face with streams of blood.

Despite falling from such a height, he had not died, as if fate had ordained it so, landing right in front of them. It felt heartless not to save him, hard to justify in good conscience.

Ling Li said, “If we don’t save him, then no one can.” He glanced at the four great masters and signaled to them.

Of course, they would heed Ling Li’s call.

“How can this guy be so lucky,” Ma Jun commented.

“Enough talk, even though we didn’t kill Longhun today, we still cooperated. And it was because of that cooperation that things went awry.”

“It’s incredible, such a high fall and he didn’t die.”
