Chapter 835 - 835 821 I Should Take the Lead
Chapter 835: Chapter 821: I Should Take the Lead Chapter 835: Chapter 821: I Should Take the Lead Guo Yuyun, who was like a pile of dry wood desperately in need of a spark, was certain to set the whole inn alight.
Xuan Si followed closely, pondering what exactly had happened last night. By all accounts, Ye Chen wouldn’t have acted in such a way, he said, “Yun’er, could we have misunderstood? Maybe last night, nothing happened at all.”
“Do you really believe that guy’s nonsense?” Guo Yuyun thought of the clothes. How could it be possible that nothing had happened?
Xuan Si said, “Last night, Wan Danrong indeed had some drinks, but Ye Chen didn’t.” Thinking about how Ye Chen had already made his stance clear, he shouldn’t have done something like this at such a time.
“I knew that girl wouldn’t let it go. She has been sulky these past few days, not speaking to me at all. She must have been dwelling on this matter. No wonder, I always knew she was no good,” Guo Yuyun thought of the girl’s deep affection for Ye Chen. If she really threw herself at him last night, how could a boy resist? Even the most rational person couldn’t hold back against a fiery passion. She didn’t believe that guy could have resisted; he always had many ideas.
Xuan Si said, “She really drank a lot last night.”
“How would you know?”
Xuan Si looked towards Xuan Hong, who was ordering food, and asked, “Xuan Hong, isn’t that right?”
Xuan Hong nodded slightly.
“Hehe, to be able to find his room so precisely, I bet she had it all planned out. She wanted to present a fait accompli by cooking the raw rice into cooked rice, solving everything in one fell swoop. I really hadn’t seen that coming,” Guo Yuyun said with a sarcastic laugh, sipping her tea as if she might jump up and bite someone at any moment.
“Don’t get angry yet; let’s hear what he has to say,” one suggested.
“We’re finished.”
While they were talking, Ye Chen was chased out of the room.
Downstairs, Guo Yuyun and Xuan Si saw him. Ye Chen could only respond with a forced smile, but he was extremely embarrassed.
He walked down unhurriedly, perhaps feeling that an innocent man does not fear a shadow, and approached Guo Yuyun and the others.
Guo Yuyun turned her head away, not wanting to deal with him.
Ye Chen looked somewhat embarrassed and aggrieved but knew he needed to stay calm.
Before he could speak, Rong’er also came out of the room upstairs, almost humming a tune. She seemed quite pleased with herself, as if she had won a battle, casually descending from upstairs as she exclaimed, “Wow, such a feast, I knew you knew I love dumplings.”
After not speaking for several days, she suddenly became smug, showing off her victory as if on purpose.
Seeing her smug expression, Ye Chen said, “Rong’er, you have to explain to me what happened last night. I slept on the floor.”
“Of course, if you say so, then it is so,” she replied.
“Hey, it really is like that. I put away the sheets; they’re in the cupboard,” he insisted.
“If you say so, then so be it,” she retorted.
Rong’er’s appetite surged. She cast a glance at Guo Yuyun and said, “Come on, it’s alright. I can pretend nothing happened even though something did last night. You don’t have to feel responsible; I don’t mind.” Her words were obviously aimed at Guo Yuyun, as if she were trying to provoke her anger.
Furious, Guo Yuyun stood up abruptly, left her food, and stormed out.
“You haven’t finished eating yet,” Xuan Si pointed out.
“I’m already full,” Guo Yuqing shouted back.
Xuan Si flew out after her, followed by Xuan Hong.
Ye Chen looked at Rong’er and asked, “Rong’er, did you do that on purpose?”
Rong’er continued eating dumplings, looking indifferent.
Ye Chen figured it out: the girl was doing it on purpose. She was afraid there would be no trouble, so she decided to create some.
“Go ahead, eat more, and nourish yourself well. Don’t strain your back again,” he said.
Ye Chen watched her, snorting in disdain.
“How was my figure last night?” she inquired.
Ye Chen gave a cold laugh; she clearly remembered more than she let on.
“I suppose it was alright,” Wan Danrong said.
“You did it on purpose.” It was clear the comment was targeted at Guo Yuyun, and he hadn’t expected such an incident to occur.
“What’s there to do on purpose? In life, one must indulge when it’s time to indulge,” she declared.
“Alright, have it your way.”
“Marry me,” she proposed.
“How come I never thought of that?” he mused sarcastically.
“Is that so! Think about it now. After all, a man can have multiple wives and concubines, and I have no objections,” she asserted.
“I’d like to, but I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to handle it,” he replied.
“Afraid the mother monkey would tear you to pieces?”
Ye Chen looked over, sensing that this girl was targeting Yun’er, and asked, “Did you have a fight with Yun’er?”
“Why should I fight with her?” Wan Danrong kept eating.
“Right, I’m curious too. Your relationship used to be so good, even better than mine with her. I can’t figure out what went wrong,” he pondered.
“You’re overthinking it,” Wan Danrong continued with her meal.
“But you know, I just told Guo Yuyun that we were together. I haven’t spoken to you about it, but you should be aware.”
After hearing this, Wan Danrong said, “But I really like you. I’m afraid I’ll regret not trying, I have to fight for my own happiness.”
She was serious, and he couldn’t tell when she had started harboring such thoughts.
“I’m speaking from my heart. Although I want to wish you both happiness, I just can’t bring myself to do it. I want to marry you. What can I do, even if it means being a concubine, I’m willing,” she confessed.
“Hah, aren’t you afraid your father would come back to life and scold you? A princess-like figure becoming my concubine,” he teased.
“Ah, that’s true. Being born as a young lady, it doesn’t quite fit. But I’ve come to terms with it. What matters most is my own happiness, and there’s nothing more important than finding the person I love,” she rationalized.
“But I only like Yun’er,” he affirmed.
“But I like you, you know. It’s rare to find someone who likes you back just as much. Almost enough is good enough.”
“How can almost enough do, if I divorce you later, you’ll regret it.”
“No worries, I’ll raise the child well. Better than you’d imagine.”
“Ha, wouldn’t that make me an irresponsible person?” Ye Chen was eating sweet and sour carp.
“No one will say you’re irresponsible,” Wan Danrong said.
“I can tell, you’ve made all the preparations.”
“Of course, how could I not be prepared!”
Over there, Xuan Wen came over and said, “Sect Leader Ye, shouldn’t we be setting off?” He was worried that if they were late, they might encounter the Third Demon and the forces of the demonic realms.
“Then let’s get ready and hurry up to leave,” Ye Chen said.
“I will leave a letter for Guo Mingyu and the others with a homing pigeon, to confirm the place of our rendezvous later.”
Ye Chen nodded slightly.
They set out, and Guo Yuyun ignored Ye Chen.
Ye Chen found Xuan Si and asked her, “Our philandering ‘big radish,’ what’s on your mind?”
“Nothing really happened last night,” he said.
“How do we believe that nothing happened when there’s a naked girl in your room with you all night?”
“She was still wearing pants, not entirely naked.”
Xuan Si gave a cold smile and said, “Then do you want me to ask how you found her figure?”
“Not bad; I’ll give you guys a comparison when I get a chance,” Ye Chen replied.
Xuan Si kicked him and shouted, “You are indeed a philandering ‘big radish.'”
“What should I do now?” Ye Chen asked.
“How would I know what you should do?”
Xuan Si was now the only one left who could get close to Guo Yuyun.
“I really didn’t want this to happen. Who knew that girl would burst in smelling of booze? I never imagined there would be such a misunderstanding this morning.”
“It seems you’re not afraid of misunderstandings. When Rong’er ran into your room last night, couldn’t you have at least told us?”
“Hey, it was in the middle of the night. I didn’t want to disturb everyone.”
“Right, so you two just slept together to keep each other warm.”
“Who said that? I was on the floor.”
“Who’d believe that.”
“You don’t have to believe it, but the blanket is still in the closet. You can check it out.”
“Why would I want to look at that,” Xuan Si muttered. “If I’d known it would come to this, I might as well have jumped in first.”
Ye Chen stared at her and said, “What do you mean ‘jumped in first’? You were drinking with Rong’er last night, weren’t you?”
“Yes, we drank together. It’s a pity she went into the room, not me.”
“It seems you’re not so innocent yourself.”
Xuan Si gave a cold smile.
“Come on, stop joking around. Seriously, what should I do now?” Ye Chen asked.
“How should I know what you should do?” Xuan Si replied.
“Mother Monkey is definitely not going to believe me now,” Ye Chen lamented.
“You guys keep making a fuss.”
“I don’t want to make a fuss. Actually, I was hoping it would be you coming in last night,” Ye Chen said jokingly.
“You should’ve said something. Give me a signal, and I’d come in wearing nothing for sure.”
Ye Chen shook his head.
They hurried to leave the small town because they knew the demonic realms and the Third Demon could appear at any time. They didn’t want to encounter them again, so they quickly evacuated the town.
At this time, Rong’er seemed to have seized the opportunity as if she feared nothing was going on.
“You need to let Rong’er explain,” Xuan Si suggested.
“That girl isn’t likely to explain. She probably wishes something did happen last night,” Ye Chen remarked.
“Well, you can’t blame anyone else.”
“Of course not; it’s my fault for being too handsome, too outstanding.”
“Bah,” Xuan Si spat.
“I just don’t understand why that girl made up her mind to act this way; I can’t figure it out myself,” Ye Chen said.
“You still can’t figure it out!”
“Of course not. I don’t know why, but she seems to have something against Yu Yun.”
“That’s your doing,” Xuan Si remembered the conversation with Wan Danrong from the previous night.
“Blame me? I certainly don’t want them to be like this.”
“If not you, who else?”
