Chapter 604 - 604 590 Hunting Down
Chapter 604: Chapter 590: Hunting Down Chapter 604: Chapter 590: Hunting Down Many of the people here were injured and couldn’t participate in the fight.
Zhong Yao nodded, saying, “Alright, I’ll lead them to the city gate first, you be careful.”
Ye Chen patted him on the shoulder and then turned to leave.
Lin Wei’s martial arts were quite decent, but his men were dwindling. Wan Guangcai and Rong’er, joining hands, injured Lin Wei a little more, making him appear increasingly exhausted.
Wan Guangcai was hoping for a quick battle. He used this opportunity, with his men holding off Lin Wei, to try and finish him as quickly as possible.
Rong’er’s martial arts had greatly improved from a month ago. Relative to Lin Wei, it wasn’t much, but with her help, Lin Wei had to face it.
As Rong’er attacked with her sword, he had no choice but to defend. Wan Guangcai seized the opportunity, his foot sending the injured Lin Wei flying. He then thrust a sword towards Lin Wei’s chest, but for some reason, the sword seemed to disobey, refusing to penetrate.
As a result, Lin Wei launched Wan Guangcai into the air with a powerful palm strike. He fell to the ground, seriously injured.
Rong’er was shocked.
Lin Wei took off his coat, revealing he was wearing Iron Sand Armor. Rong’er flew over and attacked, but her sword couldn’t pierce through it.
The disciples of the Wan Family flew over to help.
However, damned Lin Wei triggered something, releasing a wave of poisonous needles. Seven or eight disciples were hit by the needles, and Rong’er also fell.
It turned out that Lin Wei anticipated someone might try to kill him, so he wore this suit and kept this trick up his sleeve.
In one fell swoop, he killed more than ten of Wan Guangcai’s men.
Wan Guangcai rushed over, helping up the poisoned Rong’er.
Lin Wei swiftly turned the situation around, declaring, “You wanted to kill me, but I’ve been on guard against you lot. You won’t find it so easy to kill me.”
“You treacherous dog.” Wan Guangcai clutched his chest and shouted.
“Hehe, you killed my son. I will send you all to hell.”
Just as he was about to kill, a shadow leapt out from behind him. Bom bom bom, several bursts of light were released, taking out a few of Lin Wei’s men and sending Lin Wei flying.
Lin Wei fell to the ground.
Ye Chen ran over to Wan Guangcai, looking at Rong’er with blood seeping from the corner of her mouth, and asked, “What happened?”
Rong’er was hit by the poisonous needles.” Wan Guangcai holding his chest said.
Ye Chen quickly sealed Rong’er’s acupoints.
In a daze, Rong’er said, “Kill Lin Wei for me, don’t let this treacherous man go.”
Be careful of his poison needles.” Wan Guangcai warned.
No sooner had he finished speaking, Lin Wei released another wave of poison needles.
Ye Chen forced out a wave of energy, transforming it into a light wave to block the incoming poison needles. Using his Dodging Technique, he sent them back, several hitting Lin Wei, who quickly reached for an antidote. Seeing this, Ye Chen leapt into action using his Swift Movement Technique, snatched the antidote, and sent Lin Wei flying with a palm strike.
However, whatever he was wearing, it was so strong that he fell but without breaking any ligaments. He got up again and tried to escape but Ye Chen grabbed a sword from the ground and threw it at him, hitting him in the back, but not piercing through, merely knocking him over.
“His Iron Sand Armor is protecting him. It’s impervious to blade and spear.” Wan Guangcai said.
Ye Chen immediately understood. Then, shouting voices were heard around the corner. It must be reinforcements from Lin Residence.
“Don’t let him escape.” Rong’er shouted.
Staggering, Lin Wei shouted, “Help!”.
He tried to escape.
Ye Chen glanced at a lantern hanging on his right, then zapped out several energy tendrils which grabbed the lantern from under the eaves and hurled it at Lin Wei. Injured and poisoned, Lin Wei couldn’t defend himself.
The shattered lantern set him aflame, and Lin Wei, along with the lantern, turned into a fireball.
Horrifying screams echoed, but no one dared approach.
In a hurry, Ye Chen took Wan Guangcai, Rong’er, and the rest of the disciples and ran towards the city gate.
“This should be the antidote.” Ye Chen brought out the bottle of antidote that Lin Wei had dropped earlier. He gave one to Rong’er and the rest to the other poisoned disciples.
Everything quieted down.
They rushed to the city gate, where they had already arranged to meet with Zhong Yao at an inn.
Zhong Yao took one look at Wan Guangcai and said, “Second Manor Master, you’re injured.”
“It’s alright. It’s just minor injuries. We should leave the city first.” Wan Guangcai said.
Zhong Yao nodded in agreement.
Just then, someone came running. It was Yi Mei. As soon as she arrived, she cried, “Rong’er, it’s really you. You’re still alive.”
Rong’er immediately hugged Yi Mei and said, “I thought you were dead.”
“Most of us died. I’ve been looking for you.”
“Stop talking, we need to leave Wanshou City.”
“Then I’ll leave with you.”
Wan Guangcai looked back and said, “Alright, let’s get out of here first.”
A group of riders quickly rushed towards the city gate, which had been opened in advance. At the same moment they left the city.
Another group of riders surged into Wanshou City.
Luo Hai was somewhat surprised, as people moved quickly and he didn’t get a clear look. He asked, “Why do I feel like that we just let the New City Sect Leader pass?”
“No way, the New City Sect Leader wouldn’t be in Wanshou City. Tonight, Wanshou City belongs to Lin Wei. Coming in here means certain death. They should have returned to the New City Sect.” One of his subordinates, not noticing the details, responded.
“Yeah, it must be the darkness messing with me. That guy’s got me all jumpy.”
They continued into the city.
Upon reaching the Hongyun Building, they heard news of the Lin family father and son being killed by the Wan family. It was reported that the Wan family had just escaped.
Luo Hai paused, recalling the group of riders from earlier.
A disciple next to him suggested, “It might have been that group just now.”
Luo Hai spurred his horse, swearing, “DAMN IT! They really think I’m invisible. Give chase! I want to see if they have nine lives.”
Without pausing, he turned his horse around and headed straight for the city gate.
Luo Hai heard that Lin Wei was trying to convince the old timers to join Third Demon today. Originally, he had come to congratulate them.
He was invited tonight to celebrate this event, but with what just happened, there was no way he could sit still. He had to eliminate those miscreants.
Although Rong’er had taken the antidote, she still felt drowsy and needed to rest for a while.
Zhong Yao said, “That group of riders just now seemed to be led by Luo Hai from the Third Demon.”
Ye Chen, in his urgency to leave, had not examined the group closely.
Then suddenly, they heard that the Third Demon’s men were in pursuit.
Ye Chen hurriedly asked, “How many of them are there?”
“At least three hundred.”
“It must be that group from before,” Zhong Yao pointed out.
The sound of hoofbeats was getting closer.
Ye Chen and his group tried to shake them off, but they remained doggedly in pursuit, even in the dead of night.
Zhong Yao suggested, “I’ll draw them away. Ye Chen, you lead the others and leave.”
Ye Chen, now more composed, asked, “Isn’t the territory ahead controlled by No. One Heroes?”
Zhong Yao nodded and confirmed, “Yes. It’s dangerous to enter their territory.”
Ye Chen pondered for a moment, shaking his head, “No, Yang Jing’s territory is the most dangerous place, and hence, the safest place.” Although he only had a bit over fifty people with him at the moment, who were no match for Luo Hai’s men, he knew about the current relationship between No. One Heroes and Third Demon. Maybe he could make good use of this conflict.
Wan Guangcai said, “You want Yang Jing’s men to deal with them.”
Ye Chen knew that in recent days the Third Demon moving to Bishui City had made the No. One Heroes quite unhappy. If they entered their territory, it would certainly provoke them.
Ye Chen confirmed, “Yeah, go now and do not hesitate.”
The distance to Luo Hai’s men was only about a mile, and with Rong’er looking fatigued…
“Let’s go. It’s dangerous either way, so maybe the poison will counteract the poison, and we will find a way out.”
Wan Guangcai agreed, “Alright, we’ll follow your plan.”
Ye Chen led them into Gui Lang and Er Gui’s area.
An aide ran up to Luo Hai and reported, “They’ve entered Gui Lang and Er Gui’s area.”
Luo Hai, who was close to capturing them, refused to give up, saying, “What do Gui Lang and Er Gui have to do with anything? Just capture them first.”
“Won’t that antagonize them?”
Luo Hai, determined not to give up, sneered: “They wouldn’t dare do anything, a bunch of timid losers.” Remembering how the No. One Heroes hadn’t dared to touch them during their days in Bishui city, he didn’t believe Gui Lang would dare to do anything. Even if they did, he believed No. One Heroes were not yet ready for war against them.
“Should we really go in?”
“Yes, and spare no one. I want those bastards captured.” This was a golden opportunity, and he was delighted by the prospect.
At midnight, Er Gui was about to rest, when an aide reported, “Luo Hai and his men have trespassed our territory.”
Er Gui sprang up at the thought of Third Demon. He’d long wanted to discipline them. Lately, he’d been getting more and more disgruntled. He shouted, “These people really think we’re nothing! They thought we wouldn’t dare act against them in Bishui City! They think we’re pushovers, huh?”
Another aide ran up, asking, “What’s really going on?”
The man who brought the news replied, “They were chasing a bunch of Wan family’s people.”
“Bullshit! The Wan family thinks they can tread on us too! Even if it’s the Wan family, they have no right to enter our territory. Damn it! Are they pilng on and taking us for fools?” Er Gui was already out in the courtyard by now.
“Should we find out what’s going on and inform Gui Lang?” the aide asked.
“Inform my foot! If we keep taking this lying down, they’ll treat us like nothing. We can’t let Luo Hai push us around like this.” Er Gui had been waiting for a chance to show these bastards a lesson. Thinking about all the humiliation he’d suffered lately, he was ready to explode.
Er Gui vented, “I bet they have ulterior motives. Maybe they’re using this as an excuse to infiltrate and deal with us. If we take this sitting down, they’ll march in whenever they please. Anybody who tells me to back down today, I’ll have unfinished business with them.”
The aide and the messenger hurriedly followed him out.
