Super God Grandmaster -
Chapter 552 - 552 538 Ghost
Chapter 552: Chapter 538: Ghost Chapter 552: Chapter 538: Ghost Regardless of the odds, Ding Yunjie thought to himself, as long as he could delay them for a bit longer, Wan Danrong would be safer.
Raising his sword, he forgot all his techniques and attacked wildly.
Forcing Er Gui and Haozi to retreat continuously.
Er Gui turned to Haozi and said, “Haozi, think of something to hold him off.”
After all, Ding Yunjie was only up against three people. No matter how impressive his martial arts skills were, he could only deal with three or four opponents at most. That was already his limit. And he was facing over twenty black-clad men, all of whom were clearly highly skilled martial artists, not ordinary bandits.
Haozi charged at him with seven or eight men.
Ding Yunjie had no choice but to fight them, one bout was enough to entangle those few men.
Er Gui dashed past with more than a dozen masked men, directly pursuing the two girls in white up ahead.
Looking at Ding Yunjie in front of him, Haozi sneered, “Such a waste of effort for a mere servant.”
“You bandits, you won’t die a good death. If the people of the Wan Residence found out, they’d flay you alive,” Ding Yunjie attempted to scare them off.
“Flay us alive, huh. I’ll flay you alive right now.”
Suddenly, seven or eight black-clad men surrounded the trio.
Swish swish swish…
Ding Yunjie was already past the point of care, he was utterly exhausted.
He swung his sword at disguised Haozi. To others, he indeed seemed like an insignificant rat. But relative to ordinary fighters, he was a formidable opponent. Ding Yunjie was practically spent. After blocking a sword blow, a side-kick landed directly on Ding Yunjie’s waist, sending him flying into a stinking fish pond nearby.
Several bubbles rose to the water’s surface, leaving others unsure if he had survived.
Haozi killed off the remaining servants. Sniffing the stench of the fish pond, he shouted, “Don’t bother searching any further,” then continued his pursuit.
Frantic and disoriented, there was no light up ahead. It was pitch-black all around. The two girls didn’t even know how long they’d been running for.
A deadly palm strike approached. It was slightly weak, but enough to serve its purpose, slowing their pace. The black-clad men were already behind them.
And in no time, they were right in front of them.
Using his Light Wave technique, Er Gui appeared in front of Wan Danrong, startling the two girls as if they’d just seen a ghost.
The men from behind had caught up, and the girls were completely surrounded.
“What have you done to Ding Yunjie?” asked Wan Danrong, forgetting her own danger.
“You’re still worried about others? That useless servant? Better stick with me, I’ll take good care of you,” Er Gui sneered.
“The people from the Wan Residence won’t let you get away with this.”
“Grab them!” Er Gui commanded, mindful not to attract attention and needing to finish this quickly.
Wan Danrong was swinging her sword horizontally, forgetting all her moves.
Being up against more than a dozen people, she was quickly taken down.
“Hehe… don’t forget to be gentle, she’s your future sister-in-law,” Er Gui said, as he moved to bind them.
Suddenly, a ghost-like figure silently appeared behind Er Gui.
Er Gui had no idea, he was completely oblivious to the fact that there was someone behind him. Had it not been for his henchmen, he wouldn’t have known a person had appeared.
“What are you all gawking at?” Er Gui shouted.
His henchmen’s eyes were all on something behind him.
Turning around, Er Gui spotted a drunkard-like man with long hair, a long beard, standing in front of him, lazily sipping from a wineskin.
“Who are you, and when did you get behind me?” Er Gui asked.
Ye Chen squinted and said, “You lot are bold, daring to abduct innocent maidens.”
Er Gui glanced around to make sure there was only him. Seeing that he was only a swaying drunkard, he relaxed a bit and shouted, “Kill this drunkard!”
Three men rushed at him from each side,
Yet the drunkard, like a sorcerer, made six men fly off before anyone could even see him clearly.
Er Gui was astonished. Was this a ghost or a man? How did he do it? It seemed like he suddenly had seven or eight hands, and he was able to defeat the men before they could get close to him.
Waving his hand, Er Gui attacked with eight or nine men, only to be blown back as if hit by a gust of wind. He barely managed to maintain his footing.
He was taken aback. This was definitely a master, and a formidable one at that.
His messy hair covered half of his face.
“Who are you?”
“Are you here to avenge me?” Ye Chen asked.
“You drunkard, you dare to ruin our plan. You’ll be hunted down.”
Ye Chen gave a cold laugh, “Who do you think you are?”
By now, Haozi had caught up. Realizing that they were up against formidable opponents, Er Gui shouted, “Haozi, quickly, put those two girls into the horse car!”
Immediately, Haozi grabbed Wan Danrong and Yi Mei.
The two of them screamed, presenting no match for the black-clad men.
Seeing a few black-clad men about to throw the two girls into the horse car, Ye Chen got ready.
Er Gui approached, attacking with a sure-kill move, releasing a powerful energy wave, sending dozens of sword shadows toward Ye Chen. But he swallowed it with a whirlwind palm move, then applied the Dodging Technique to repel it.
Er Gui leapt, hanging in mid-air, slashing down from the top with his sword, only to be blocked by a light wave.
More than a dozen black-clad men charged forward.
Ye Chen extended his palm, breaking through the light wave and repelling Er Gui’s sword.
A sudden thunderbolt shattered the clear skies, releasing a lightning bolt. Er Gui tried to block it, but failed, directly getting struck and thrown out, the woman’s screams were growing distant, Ye Chen couldn’t afford to waste time here.
More than a dozen men in black swarmed over.
Ye Chen quickly gathered energy and unleashed it in an energy blast, striking down seven or eight assailants, as he flew towards the horse-carriage.
Three men in black tried to block his way, but with a swift movement technique, Ye Chen slipped past them.
The carriage was just five or six yards away, but it was accelerating. If he didn’t halt it now, he would not be able to catch up.
Unable to think twice, Ye Chen slammed a palm towards the carriage’s wheel.
The left wheel got destroyed, and with a loud crash, the carriage fell, the cabin bursting open like a blooming lotus.
The men in black caught up again closely. Ye Chen turned and unleashed two Green Dragons…boom, boom, boom…
He did not know where he had sent the men flying, leaving only a few broken swords behind.
A rat that had fallen from the carriage, panicked and screeched, then turned and ran into the darkness.
Looking around, Ye Chen noticed that aside from the bodies, none of the living black-clothed assailants were left.
Wan Danrong and Yi Mei quickly scrambled out of the ruined carriage.
With his back turned, Ye Chen pulled out his wine bag and leisurely began to drink again, his rumbling stomach making a fuss again.
Wan Danrong and Yi Mei were completely shocked and hurried to catch up, visibly scared. They had watched all that transpired and didn’t know who this man drinking wine was, but were afraid the men in black might return. They quickly followed Ye Chen, their fear not subsiding for quite a while.
Once they confirmed no more black hooded men were around, Wan Danrong felt somewhat relieved.
Having fixed her torn clothes, she didn’t give a thought to what happened to Ding Yunjie, and instead closely followed the drunkard.
“Thank you.” Wan Danrong shouted.
Ye Chen turned his head to glance at them. Shaking his head, he said, “There’s no need.” He then headed towards the bustling city, wondering if he could manage to find half a bowl of leftovers.
Wan Danrong hurried after him, shouting, “My name is Wan Danrong, I am the Young Lady of the Wan Family.”
Ye Chen did not respond and continued walking.
“What are you called? Can I know so that I could find you to express my gratitude if I get a chance?”
“It doesn’t matter. I’m just a drunkard. We’d better hurry. Those men in black might come back at any moment. There may be reinforcements nearby.”
“Can you see us back to the city?”
Looking around at the darkness, Ye Chen nodded, “We better get going.” His stomach was growling. He had already digested his morning’s bowl of wonton noodles.
Yi Mei began, “Ding Yunjie…”
“We’ll head back first and then send people out to look for them,” Wan Danrong suggested.
“Wandering around in the pitch-dark night, don’t you know there are bandits around here?” Ye Chen asked.
“They weren’t bandits; they were after me specifically.”
“Did you do something bad? Why are they after you?”
“Perhaps they want to get to my father,” Wan Danrong guessed.
“Who’s your father?” Ye Chen asked curiously.
“Wan Guangde.”
“Never heard of him.”
Upon hearing this, Yi Mei blurted, “That’s our master! In Wanshou City, the Wan Family is the most prominent. Are you new to Wanshou City?”
Ye Chen stayed silent.
Wan Danrong carefully observed Ye Chen. Although his beard was long and his hair disheveled, making him appear around thirty years old, a closer look undoubtedly revealed a young man. Especially his voice. The distant smell of alcohol…
This man was a martial artist of the highest caliber. Never in her life had she seen such skill, not even her father could match him.
A young man with such abilities was truly shocking.
“What’s your real name? So that I know whom to thank later.”
“No need for thanks, I am just a drunkard. So just call me Drunkard.” Ye Chen suddenly turned around, “You really want to thank me? Fine, do you have silver?”
Wan Danrong immediately stopped Yi Mei. Extracting a money bag from her bosom, Ye Chen eyed it, thinking he’d have enough to drink for some time.
Yi Mei was reluctant to hand over all the silver.
Yet Wan Danrong snatched it and said, “This is all for you.”
With a smile, Ye Chen graciously took the heavy silver coins, happily stuffing them into his bosom, thinking how he could now have a hearty drink.
Yi Mei thought to herself, this was definitely a drunkard.
“This is my maid Yi Mei. If you ever need anything in Wanshou City, just come to the Wan Residence,” Wan Danrong said.
Ye Chen ignored this and continued drinking.
Upon guiding them to the bustling streets, after making a few turns, the Wan Residence was already in sight.
During this close brush with death, Wan Danrong said, “That’s my home,”
“Go home quickly.” Ye Chen motioned, heading towards the nearby tavern.
Although Wan Danrong was somewhat reluctant to part ways, she couldn’t help but worry about Ding Yunjie.
Yi Mei, who felt as if she just returned from the dead, just wanted to rush back to the residence. Her eyes darting around in fear, as if those black-clad men were still watching them from somewhere they couldn’t see.
“That man is a highly skilled martial artist, even my father is no match for him,” Wan Danrong commented.
“He’s just an old drunk.”
“No, he’s not middle-aged. He should be around my age.”
