Chapter 474: Chapter 460: Wishing Them an Early Division of Things Chapter 474: Chapter 460: Wishing Them an Early Division of Things Guo Yuyun returned to her room, growing more furious every time she thought about never seeing him again, the thought of him now being with another woman. She could no longer sit still. In her rage, she shattered seven or eight vases. Shards were left scattered all over the ground, and no one daring to enter the room.
Suddenly, it was like she was back to her old tempestuous self.
Guo Yuyun began throwing things aggressively, aiming at the doors, windows, tables, even outside the room. Nobody dared to come near, afraid they would end up injured by her destructive rampage.
The maids kept a discreet distance, observing from afar.
Inside, it was as if the room had become a disaster zone, resembling an earthquake aftermath.
Suddenly, she grabbed a white vase and hurled it at the bronze mirror opposite herself. The vase was the last gift that Ye Chen had given her. As the vase shattered, the Red Demonic Spirit flew out of it. Confused by the sudden onslaught of flying objects, vases and plates alike, the Red Demonic Spirit had no safe place to hide and hastily escaped through the window.
The Red Demonic Spirit had evidently regained a lot of its power.
After an hour or so, the sound of shattering porcelain ceased, replaced instead by the sound of sobbing. A quick look revealed Guo Yuyun lying on her bed, sobbing uncontrollably.
The appearance of the Red Demonic Spirit had also startled the two maids standing behind her.
He Xibai was surprised. He knew the Red Demonic Spirit had always stayed with Ye Chen and asked, “What are you doing here?”
The Red Demonic Spirit turned around, replying, “I’m curious too. I was left here, abandoned just like you were.”
“You were abandoned too?”
“The heartless bastard placed me in that white vase. He doesn’t have a shred of sentimentality — when he decides to get rid of something, he just does it.” The creature seemed to be directing these words at Guo Yuyun.
He Xibai suddenly remembered that the Red Demonic Spirit had indeed been kept inside that white vase.
“What’s the situation now?” the Red Demonic Spirit asked.
“You saw everything, didn’t you? Why are you asking me?”, retorted He Xibai, as he turned to leave.
“Hey, this isn’t my fault. I’m a victim here too.”
He Xibai didn’t know what to do. She needed to find Guo Yuqing. At this point, she was lost and perhaps, her sister Qing’er could help.
The Red Demonic Spirit paused and one of the maids asked, “Are you a ghost or a human?”
Having been suppressed in the white vase for so long, the Red Demonic Spirit retorted impatiently, “Hey, hurry up and get me some food before I drain you of life. Believe it or not, I can do it.” With that, he made a threatening move towards her.
The maid panicked and hastily fled the scene.
Inside, the crashing had stopped, only cries could be heard. The noise had also scared the crickets lurking among the grass into silence. The Red Demonic Spirit moved over to a stone table and had a cup of tea.
Without needing to ask, he had a good guess of what had happened. No doubt, Ye Chen had descended from the mountain. That damned monkey, he was ruthless indeed! He didn’t even ask for his approval before shoving him into a vase. There was no sense of human decency in him; he had simply thrown him away without any concern.
All this chaos was left for him to deal with. What cold-bloodedness!
The crying had gradually softened. The Red Demonic Spirit had eaten some snacks, and his hunger was abated. Suddenly, he turned around as if worried that the girl would commit suicide. He was now the only one left in the courtyard.
The crying sounds had quieted down. Although he didn’t believe that the girl would commit suicide, he was more convinced that she was harboring murderous intentions. The girl was still sobbing into her pillow.
Those damn maids, their mistress was in such a state and not a single one of them remained in the courtyard. How daring they were!
Like a child who had finished crying, she was no longer being attended to, the sobbing had become intermittent.
The Red Demonic Spirit said softly, “Enough now. You’ve thrown everything that you could, and you’ve cried as well. If you’re done crying, come and eat.”
Guo Yuyun turned her head around and looked at him, somewhat startled. What was the Red Demonic Spirit doing here? Wasn’t it supposed to be with Ye Chen? She had been too preoccupied smashing things up to notice him.
In anger, the Red Demonic Spirit said, “I’m the same as you, that despicable runt just abandoned me too. We’re alike, both of us pitiful creatures,” he put on a pitiable look.
Guo Yuyun sneered and barked, “Get out!”
“Stop crying, that guy is not worth your tears. Even if you cry, he wouldn’t even know. Why are you torturing yourself?” The Red Demonic Spirit carried on, “You’re causing a ruckus for nothing, he wouldn’t even care. I too, am fretting needlessly. What’s the use? It’s self-inflicted suffering. As for that scoundrel, he should be forgotten.”
Yun’er remained silent while the Red Demonic Spirit stayed at the door, wary of her sudden violent outbursts.
“Just stay away from me if you know what’s good for you,” Guo Yuyun huffed, still seething with anger.
The Red Demonic Spirit shrunk back towards the steps of the entrance, saying, “Ah, that guy really has no humanity. I helped him and nearly lost my life countless times, yet he just tossed me aside without a second thought. He said he was leaving with another woman and just left. How can this cold-hearted man deserve any happiness?”
These words seemed deliberately said for Yun’er to hear.
“Why didn’t you just die in the Jade Ring?” All Yuyun was saying was out of resentment.
“Oh, don’t even mention it. If it were two days later, I really would’ve been gone, even my soul would have dissipated. Your father’s Demonic Pearl saved me. What’s more important than staying alive!” The Red Demonic Spirit exclaimed.
Guo Yuyun’s crying had stopped. She just lay still, as though she had cried enough. There was no point in crying anymore; the Red Demonic Spirit was right. Who was she crying for? All this fuss, she was just torturing herself! Thinking about it, her eyes welled up with tears again.
“Just you watch, that heartless pair won’t find happiness, they’ll regret it indeed,” the Red Demonic Spirit said, itching to give them a good scolding. Perhaps this would make Guo Yuyun feel better. “They’re so ungrateful; they’re just cold-blooded animals! How can they be unfazed? They must be heartless bastards. Stop crying, get up now. We should have a good drink. We are both in the same boat, sharing the same grief.”
Guo Yuyun glanced over at him and realized that she was indeed starving.
The Red Demonic Spirit continued, “It’s truly not worth it. We are here suffering while they are out enjoying themselves. This is just masochism. We should live better than them and make them green with envy.”
He Xibai found Guo Yuqing, because she knew her little sister too well. He Xibai was afraid something might happen to Guo Yuqing.
However, Guo Yuqing said, “Don’t worry, nothing will happen.”
“I’m just afraid Yun’er might harm herself.” He Xibai said.
“She won’t, I know my little sister better than you. She’s tougher than a boy. Once she’s vented, she’ll get past it.” Guo Yuqing said.
“But she cried so hard.”
“It’s alright, just put your mind at ease.”
“Big sister, why aren’t you worried at all.”
“This isn’t something you or I can fret over, she has to get through this on her own.”
Nothing He Xibai could do but concede the point. She understood the situation. What more could she possibly say at this point.
“Don’t worry.”
Unaware, they had reached the manor gates. No crying could be heard. Instead, there could be heard curses from the inside.
Sitting by the stone table, Guo Yuyun was shouting, “I hope that damned couple die. Let’s drink up.”
“Right, hope they rot in hell.” Joined in the Red Demonic Spirit from the opposite seat.
“I hope their dreams never come true. Hope they split up sooner than later.” Guo Yuyun was obviously just letting off steam.
“Right, hope they split up soon.” Red Demonic Spirit hoisted his wine glass, going along with whatever Guo Yuyun said, not giving another thought.
He Xibai was taken aback. Standing by the door, she was astonished. Just a moment ago, she was crying her eyes out, and now, it’s as if nothing had ever happened as she drank.
Guo Yuqing asked, “Who’s talking to Yun’er?”
“Is it the Red Demonic Spirit?”
“Didn’t Ye Chen take the Red Demonic Spirit with him?”
“I just found out myself. Last night, Ye Chen came over. After talking to Yun’er, he gave me a white bottle to give to Yun’er. The Red Demonic Spirit must have been in the bottle. Yun’er probably released him when she smashed the bottle.”
Guo Yuqing listened and nodded, figuring the guy still had some feelings for Yun’er. Knowing that Ye Chen had kept the Red Demonic Spirit around for the more than five years and how much the Spirit had helped him with his martial arts, his sudden departure must have been due to concern over Yun’er so he left the Red Demonic Spirit behind.
He Xibai said, “They are guzzling drinks.”
“Fine, let them. Just hope that nothing untoward happens.” She knew it’s hard to confront emotional turmoil. Perhaps having someone to have a heart-to-heart with would make it easier to cope.
He Xibai asked, “Aren’t we going in?”
No, we’re not. Guo Yuqing sat down on the stone steps by the entrance. She was to return to the Immortal City the next day.
“Big sister, are you leaving for the Immortal City tomorrow?” He Xibai asked.
“Yes.”
“Makes sense. Young Master Ze is headed back too. Your home is in the Immortal City after all.”
“Take care of Yun’er for me.”
“Without you telling me, I would still do my best to take care of her.”
Guo Yuqing continued, “Once this phase is over, I believe Yun’er will get better very soon.”
Just then, they could hear the Red Demonic Spirit inside saying, “Forget those who hurt us. We must live better than them. Let them envy us.”
Yun’er who was somewhat tipsy, said, “Um, let them envy us.” She took a bite from a grilled chicken leg, after each bite she would take a gulp of wine, tears rolling down her cheeks.
“Of course, what’s the big deal about that couple anyway? Do they match our carefree life? Our hands are untied, we go wherever we want.”
“Now, bring me more wine.” She said, wiping her tears.
He Xibai glanced inside, their camaraderie was apparent. Looks like Ye Chen had done a decent job leaving the Red Demonic Spirit behind, aiding Yun’er.
At that moment, she felt slightly relieved.
Then He Xibai said, “Rebuilding the Immortal City will be a big task.”
“Indeed, lots to do. But as long as we take it a step at a time, we’ll get it done eventually.” Guo Yuqing said.
“Hmm, Young Master Ze being appointed as the Sect Leader is cause for celebration.”
“For me, it doesn’t matter whether he’s the Sect Leader or not. What matters is his happiness.” Guo Yuqing added.
He Xibai nodded in agreement.
The night was falling deeper.
