Mu Wanlan was outside preparing breakfast.

Seeing Ye Chen emerge, Mu Wanlan glanced at him and resumed her chores. Ye Chen looked at Ling’er’s room. The window was open, but the door remained shut.

“She hasn’t woken up yet,” Ye Chen observed.

“Didn’t you notice that yourself!” Mu Wanlan snapped.

“It seems Ling’er has misunderstood me.”

“A misunderstanding?”

Ye Chen found a spot to sit down, stating confidently, “It’s a misunderstanding, don’t believe everything you hear from outside.”

“Heh, you might take everything as nonsense, but we can’t.”

“Hey, I have nothing with that gal.”

“Don’t bother explaining to me.” Mu Wanlan’s rejection was curt.

“At this moment, you should help us, trying to ease our relationship,” Ye Chen suggested.

“I’m not capable of doing that.”

With a glance toward Ling’er’s room, Mu Wanlan whispered softly, “Ling’er plans to leave you.”

“Even I can’t accept myself this way.” Ling’er let out a cold laugh.

“You’re not like this, you’re supposed to be cheerful.”

Putting down her chopsticks, Ling’er turned around and said, “I’m not as cheerful as you’re making me out to be. I’ve been living in a wheelchair for over a month, and have seen countless doctors with basically no solutions.”

“A few doctors’ opinions don’t represent everyone’s.”

“Yes, but no one can guarantee that I’ll be able to stand again.”

“That’s okay, I won’t leave you.”

“It might be okay for you, but it’s not for me.” Wei Yiling liked Ye Chen, but she couldn’t be selfish. She needed to consider his feelings.

“Don’t be so hard on yourself.”

“I admit, I am a bit.”

“I know you like me.”

Wei Yiling said, “After everything that’s happened, I’m lucky to be alive. I’m content with that. We’re not kids anymore. Liking someone is a young people thing, we need to face reality.”

Guo Mingyu stepped forward with the others, asking, “Will Jiang Zhuge and Can Mo leave today?” He had heard about the situation in the Wastelands.

Ye Chen responded, “Yes, they will lead a large group of people and leave first.”

“Is there anything we can help with?”

Ye Chen remarked, “No, not really. We’ve been battling Gua Zhengnie for quite some time, a day or two more won’t matter.”

Guo Mingyu nodded.

Ye Chen continued, “I heard some disciples from the Celestial-Demon Domain suggested going to Dragon Slayer Island?”

“Yes, they see this as an opportunity. Now that the Mutant Winged Dragon is dead, and over half of their people are gone, dispersed. They fear that Dragon Slayer Island might rise again.”
