Chapter 303 - 303 291 Discovering the Zen Master
Chapter 303: Chapter 291: Discovering the Zen Master Chapter 303: Chapter 291: Discovering the Zen Master Yu Qing walked to one side and said, “I am not fully prepared yet!”
“All young women are like this. Before getting married, they hesitate a bit. That’s because they are transitioning from living a solitary life to a shared one. It requires a sense of responsibility. So, a transition period is necessary. Once this phase has passed, everything will return to its original calm.” Luo Rui asserted.
“You are speaking as if you are a seasoned married woman yourself. You haven’t married yet, have you?”
“Hey, this is what the married folks usually say.”
“You just can’t wait to get rid of me so that you can have the freedom.”
“Well, it surely would relieve me of a concern. In the future, I wouldn’t have to worry about this matter. Otherwise, I would feel guilty towards your late mother.”
“Heh, I feel like a gift being handed out.”
“It’s just that you’re too troublesome.”
“Maybe, I really don’t know what I feel.”
“Bullshit. What is there left to ponder at this point, after all these years? Can you find anyone better than Zhan Ze? If you keep procrastinating, you’ll end up being a spinster. Do you think everyone is going to wait for you?”
“Who says I can’t? Ye Chen is better.”
“If he truly cared about you, he wouldn’t have vanished without a trace. He might have turned into a country bumpkin, farming in a village, marrying a village girl, having children. How could he still remember you?” Luo Rui, who knows Guo Yuqing really well, added.
“I hate when you say such things.”
“So, what do you want me to say? It has been five years. You should let go and look ahead, not live in the past. Five years can change a lot of things.” Luo Rui advised.
“You always have a way of twisting things.”
“Am I? I am trying to bring you back to reality. I’m warning you, if you miss out on Zhan Ze and upset your mother, she might force you to marry someone who’s like a camel, no matter how unwilling or repulsed you are by his appearance.”
Yu Qing gave her a death glare.
“I’m not scaring you. You are well aware of how ruthless your stepmother is. She is capable of such things.”
Yu Qing went back into the inn.
On the second floor, Ling Jian called out, “Over here.”
Yu Qing and Luo Rui ran upstairs. By this time, Ling Jian had already chosen a place by the window. Yu Qing asked, “Where is my sister?”
“Don’t worry, Brother Song is with them,” Ling Jian served them tea.
Luo Rui said, “Your sister loves to play. You know that.”
Yu Qing asked, “Is the situation in the Immortal Demon Domain really bad?”
“Only a group of Dragon Slaying Clan disciples was admitted. We don’t know where exactly they are now. We fear they may attack the disciples of other sects and create chaos during the Immortal Demon Domain conference.” Ling Jian continued, “Members of Immortal City Sect suggested that we group together as much as possible and head to Immortal City altogether. It’s better to have backup.”
There were only two tables of disciples on this floor. The others were on the first floor. It was rather peaceful on the second floor.
“Your father has learned that a few disciples from other sects are nearby. He went to meet them and asked them to join us here. We’ll head to Immortal City together.” Ling Jian urged the disciples to start eating.
“So, the situation is quite serious.”
“Not really. Not many of them have come in. We’ve coordinated amongst ourselves, you don’t have to worry about such things.” Ling Jian continued, “After all, Central Plains belongs to us.”
“I heard that Wasteland City is in quite a mess.”
“Yes, to intimidate Sky Domain City, they turned Wasteland City into a sea of flames.”
“Did all members of the New City Sect die?”
“Those who left before the big battle didn’t die, but those who stayed behind, including the sect leader, they all died.” Ling Jian continued, “In the end, the entirety of Wasteland City turned into a sea of flames. Afterwards, Sky Domain City surrendered.”
“Even commoners were not spared,” Luo Rui added.
“Yes, hence this Immortal Demon Domain Conference is of utmost importance. The fate of the entire Immortal Demon Domain hangs in the balance. If we don’t unite and form a common front, when the Mutant Winged Dragon invades Central Plains, we will be disorganized and disjointed.”
Hearing this, Yu Qing fell silent, realizing the urgency of the current situation.
“Hey, don’t worry about it, there’ll always be a solution. Remember, in the past, Immortal Demon Domain had successfully defeated the Dragon Slaying Clan. We stand a fair chance of victory again. The main thing is to combine the power of the Sacred Pearls. Once we select an alliance leader, we will certainly defeat the Dragon Slaying Clan again.”
However, Yu Qing disagreed, “It’s different now. The Dragon Slaying Clan is more powerful than it was back then. They’ve unified so many areas all at once. The Wastelands, which is the biggest outside of Central Plains, has already been taken over by them, and so swiftly.”
“That’s because the people of the Wastelands did not know the Dragon Slaying Clan had infiltrated. They were caught off guard. Otherwise, such a thing wouldn’t have occurred,” Ling Jian commented.
“If the Immortal Demon Domain fails to deal with Dragon Slaying Clan, it’ll be really dangerous,” Luo Rui expressed concern.
“Well, I believe in ultimate victory standing on the side of justice. Moreover, we have the Heavenly Pearl, Immortal Pearl, and Demonic Pearl to help us. With such strong powers aiding us, we can certainly defeat the Dragon Slaying Clan.” Ling Jian continued, “At present, the unity of the Immortal Demon Domain is the most important thing. Provided we unite, we will definitely be able to cope with the Dragon Slaying Clan.”
Just as they were talking, commotion erupted below. Luo Rui noticed it first and leaned over to look at the street, quickly declaring, “Qing’er, your father is back.”
Yu Qing also peered out and indeed, it was her father, bringing along several disciples from different sects, heading in their direction.
Ling Jian said, “You two continue eating, I’ll go take a look.”
With that, Ling Jian stood up and went downstairs.
Luo Rui said, “Huh, stop dawdling and eat. Aren’t you hungry? I’m starving.”
Over the course of a single night, Su Hong found Ren Xiongbei. Ever since they sent out a message, the people coming to Immortal City have been journeying together as much as possible, but this isn’t enough to completely reassure Su Hong.
At this time, Slaughter Saint and Jing Po had stirred to action. They were marching towards the Central Plains, stoking chaos. Jiang Ouyang and Guan Yi tried to stop them, ending up in several fights with no clear victor. This at least held off the chaos, maintaining some stability on their side.
The day of Su Zhanze’s wedding was fast approaching, and yet Su Hong had no peace of mind. There was still a group of men whose whereabouts were unknown, vanished as if to become ghosts.
Ren Xiongbei could see Su Hong’s worries. Ren Xiongbei asked, “Sect Leader, what is it that you’re worrying about?”
“Of course I’m worried. We still haven’t found that group of people. We don’t even know where they might be.” Su Hong was naturally very concerned about the group that had disappeared into the Central Plains using the camel caravans.
“Yeah, indeed. I believe that group is masquerading as traders, or they are moving separately.” They had done everything they could.
“Tell me about the current situation.”
“Regarding Slaughter Saint and Jing Po, Jiang Ouyang and our other men have fought with them twice, managing to hold them back. They wouldn’t be able to advance swiftly now. They are under our surveillance. As for the other sects, they should reach us in three or four days.”
“Are they all moving together?”
“As much as possible, they are journeying together. However, Heavenly City Sect’s disciples are quite far from us, unlike the other sects. There hasn’t been much news from them.”
“Heavenly City Sect?”
“Yes, but they brought a large number of people, so they should be capable of protecting themselves. We are keeping a close eye on them.” Ren Xiongbei said.
Yet Su Hong responded, “We must not be complacent.”
One servant offered, “Perhaps the Dragon Slaying Clan is only trying to scare us, they wouldn’t dare do anything rash.”
After hearing this, Su Hong said, “No, we cannot risk thinking that. It wouldn’t make sense for them to go through the trouble of entering the Central Plains only to scare us. They intended to wage war on us. We cannot risk being negligent. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have united the Wastelands, Wuji Domain, and the South Wasteland.”
Ren Xiongbei stated, “The Sect Leader is correct, it was the Wasteland’s negligence that led to its present state. Our people are spread too thinly to discern which of our sects they might target.”
Suddenly, as if something dawned on Su Hong, he jumped up, exclaiming, “No, the Heavenly City Sect.”
“What happened, Sect Leader?”
“They might target the Heavenly City Sect.”
Ren Xiongbei was slightly puzzled and asked, “Why? Heavenly City Sect?”
“Yes, attacking an average sect wouldn’t yield much. But, attacking the Heavenly City Sect… They are the largest sect after Immortal City and the Demon Palace. If they attack them, it will have the most deterrent effect. There’s roughly a thousand of them. Attacking smaller sects won’t do much and would not reflect their intention. Yet, making a move against the Demon Palace might be too risky for them. Therefore, the Heavenly City Sect appears as the best target. Moreover, they know we are aiding the Heavenly City Sect. If they attacked and wiped out the Heavenly City Sect, it would be a disaster.”
Ren Xiongbei paused, thought for a moment, and said, “That can’t be possible, can it?”
“It must be.” Su Hong firmly believed so, then asked, “How many people did Sect Leader Fang Ziren of the Heavenly City Sect bring?”
“Roughly six or seven hundred.”
Su Hong asked, “Where are they now?”
Ren Xiongbei stood up and said, “They should be here, though I can’t be completely sure.” He pointed to a spot on the map.
Su Hong looked at it, ordered, “Quickly send them a message via carrier pigeon. Warn them, stress that the Dragon Slaying Clan might attack them.”
Ren Xiongbei hesitated, struggling to accept the information.
“Go on. It is better to trust that they may come than believe they won’t. Have Qiao Fanfeng assist them. We cannot afford for them to suffer any mishaps.”
“Alright.” Ren Xiongbei retreated with a doubtful mind.
Su Hong hoped no harm would befall the Heavenly City Sect at this time. The Heavenly City Sect had just started to recover; another blow might signify its end. Furthermore, the three sects had always formed a united front. Even though the Heavenly City Sect was weaker, an attack on them would deal a significant blow to the Immortal and Demon Domains.
As night fell, Ye Chen and his group found a small town to rest in. Before long, Li Mo, who had gone out to gather news, found Ye Chen.
Li Mo seemed very anxious upon finding Ye Chen, appearing somewhat breathless.
Ye Chen asked, “What’s wrong, did you run into a female ghost?”
Li Mo chuckled at that.
“Take your time and have a cup of tea first, and speak at your leisure.”
