In the meantime, we will be following closely and support you when necessary. With our combined efforts, we should be able to hold them off for a while,” said the Zen Master.

“What if Yuan Menhai learns of the New City Sect’s predicament, would he offer to help them? Would they join forces against us?”

“It is a distinct possibility but rest assured, I will devise a strategy for that. For now, our plan remains as such. We cannot predict what might happen next. However, we must be prepared. The goal is simple – we need to bide time for our leader. We have to prevent them from returning to Wasteland City until our leader has successfully breached it,” the Zen Master said.

The Zen Master continued, “Elder Xi Feng, you and Shen Li will lead and hold them at bay. You cannot allow them to return to Wasteland City within the next two days. We cannot let them disrupt our leader’s plan.”

Elder Xi Feng nodded in affirmation.

“Shen Li,” the Zen Master said, “you must cooperate with Elder Xi Feng. Be ready to move as soon as they cross your path. Prepare beforehand if possible. “But if that’s the case, should they not be making their escape by now? Aren’t they afraid that the New City Sect will join us and together we will pincer them, bringing danger upon themselves?”

Ming Bei nodded in agreement. Jiu Yiren added, “Perhaps they are not aware that reinforcements from New City are on the way.”

“Impossible,” Yuan Menhai insisted. “The Zen Master must have someone observing Wasteland City. With the New City Sect mobilizing so many troops, they must know by now. In fact, they should be choosing to withdraw instead of remaining outside the city. Something is not right.”

“Hopefully I’m just overthinking.” Wei Sisan stood up. He exited quickly after that.

Ye Chen and his group rapidly headed toward Wasteland City during the night.

A disciple returned to report, saying, “No, they haven’t escaped.”

Ye Chen paused for a moment, deciding to accept this reasoning.

“Let’s cross it and then rest.”

They crossed the mountain within four hours.

Jiang Zhuge looked at Ye Chen, who seemed lost in thought, and asked, “Ye Chen. What are you thinking about? Are you worried about something?”

“I just feel that something is off.”

Ye Chen responded with a faint smile.
