Chapter 254 - 254 242 A Demonic Atmosphere Attracts Demons

Chapter 254: Chapter 242: A Demonic Atmosphere Attracts Demons Chapter 254: Chapter 242: A Demonic Atmosphere Attracts Demons Ye Chen was taken aback. It seemed he had indeed met a formidable opponent—not just an average one. Jiang Zhuge, who had climbed up from the ruins, yelled out, “Ye Chen, be careful, this person is Shen Tian.”

Ye Chen had known this already.

“Young man, not bad. You have potential,” Shen Tian remarked.

Ye Chen responded, “Is that so? I imagine not many people would receive your praise.”

“Such martial prowess at such a young age, no wonder Wei Sisan took interest in you,” Shen Tian continued. “Are you interested in joining us?”

“Following you to cause chaos and fight? I don’t plan on becoming a butcher,” Ye Chen retorted, undeterred by the other party.

Shen Tian chuckled, “This isn’t about fighting. We’re on a big mission.”

“You mean to unify the whole world, is that it?”

“Yes, something that has never been done before. The Central Plains have never known peace because of the lack of unity. The Wastelands, Wuji Domain, South Wasteland, and other places are all sources of unrest. But now we have the opportunity to unify all these places, and bring lasting peace to the world.”

“That sounds grand, but you haven’t asked for everyone’s consent,” Ye Chen said.

Shen Tian smirked, “You seem to want to stand against us.”

“I don’t really want to, but I’ve lived in Wasteland City for many years, and it’s my hometown. Just like parents to me, I can’t stand by and let people play with the lives here,” Ye Chen replied sternly.

“It appears, by your words, you’re intent on fighting against us.”

“I have no choice. I can’t let you wreak havoc.”

“What nonsense about havoc. The world has always been like this. The stronger you are, the more rights you have to survive,” Shen Tian differed.

“Is that so? I think you guys are just too ambitious,” Ye Chen retorted, releasing a blue lightning bolt. It flew toward Shen Tian like a roaring beast.

Shen Tian counteracted with a clap and a lightning bolt shot straight at Ye Chen’s lightning, splitting it and continued to race toward Ye Chen like a towering mountain.

Agility on Ye Chen’s side, he swiftly dodged and what was behind him immediately turned into ruins.

Jiang Zhuge released dozens of sword waves and attacked Shen Tian, who again countered with a devastating clap, swallowing up the sword waves.

Ye Chen rushed past to shield Jiang Zhuge, saying, “Jiang Zhuge, you focus on other tasks, let me handle this guy.” With Jiang Zhuge here, not only was he not helpful, but Ye Chen also had to protect him.

Shen Tian emanated powerful energy, and dozens of lightning bolts suddenly charged forward at Ye Chen. Ye Chen promptly summoned a light wave to ward off the mighty lightning bolts. With a roar, Shen Tian’s lightning bolt penetrated the light wave, transforming into a meteor and barreled forward with an unmatched force.

Following closely, Ye Chen transformed into a volatile ray of light, charging at Shen Tian like lightning.

Boom! The wave of energy intensified, coupled with a surge of lightning greater than before. Ye Chen was struggling. A loud explosion sent him retreating, returning him into his human form.

Ling’er ran out, startled. It seemed like she was dreaming. It was clear that Shen Tian was formidable. Ye Chen glanced at Ling’er and said, “Little Girl, don’t come closer. Otherwise, you might get burned without leaving any traces.”

Ling’er glared at Ye Chen, but her heart was filled with worry.

Ye Chen said, “I’m not joking with you. It’s true.”

Suddenly, more disciples from the New City Sect charged forward.

Shen Tian released several lightning bolts that shot back, massacring the disciples in its path. No disciple of the New City Sect could block these powerful lightning bolts from Shen Tian.

“Li Mo, get everyone back,” Ye Chen shouted. “Are you pretending I don’t exist?” He bellowed, now understanding the saying ‘there’s always someone better’. He spurred on his immense inner power, the Red Demonic Spirit, which in turn unleashed a wave of powerful energy.

Instantaneously, a bolt of lightning cut through the air. With a blast, it attracted Shen Tian’s attention. Shen Tian was taken aback. He didn’t expect the display earlier not to be Ye Chen’s limit – this was only the beginning. Shen Tian sprung into the air, hovering above the rooftops, escaping the people attacking him from the ground.

Arrows continued to fly towards him, but each one was knocked down by Shen Tian.

With a wave of his hand, he summoned a tornado that charged toward Ye Chen. Ye Chen also unleashed a powerful strike. The two forces collided, creating a shockwave that consumed the surrounding houses. The houses were not capable of withstanding such a force, they collapsed one after another. Without waiting for the dust to settle, Ye Chen quickly leaped through the smoke toward Shen Tian. There was a barrage of exchanges, and the two seemed evenly matched.

Ye Chen grew more persistent, refusing to believe that Shen Tian had no weaknesses. He began to intensify his attacks, and Shen Tian was increasingly feeling the pressure.

Facing the oncoming crowd, Shen Tian suddenly released a box. The box exploded with a loud bang, releasing a thick smoke. Li Mo thought it was poison and quickly led people to retreat.

Perhaps once the dense fumes dispersed, something crawled out of that box, bearing its fangs and claws. It resembled a scorpion but was certainly not a scorpion. These things were larger than scorpions, and moreover, their bodies were covered in teeth. However, they did indeed possess long, venomous stingers at the end of their tails.

After the smoke had cleared, up to tens of thousands of these strange critters had already crawled out from the box.

Some people had already been bitten and were screaming in agony on the ground, seeming as if they had been poisoned.

Jiang Zhuge struck out with his palm powerfully, emitting a surge of energy that consumed the box. However, by this time, massive amounts of these venomous creatures had already escaped from the box.

Jiang Zhuge hastily reorganized his team to combat these venomous creatures that had escaped from the box. These creatures moved quickly. Individually, they didn’t seem to present much of a threat, but faced with their fist-sized numbers, it wouldn’t be easy handling them.

Ye Chen looked down and yelled irritably, “Damn, what are those?” He struck out at Shen Tian with his palm, but Shen Tian dodged, causing the attack to directly hit a building behind him instead.

Two bolts of lightning, like demon claws, charged at Ye Chen. He formed a light barrier that obviously boasted more energy than the previous one. This time, his counterattack immediately tore through the incoming attack. It was as if a meteor had fallen from the sky, devouring the two lightning bolts aimed to block him. Even though Shen Tian increased his energy output, he failed to withstand Ye Chen’s attack. With a bang, the massive energy sent Shen Tian flying towards the thick city wall behind him, causing several cracks on impact.

Still unsatisfied, Ye Chen continued his attack. Shen Tian quickly dodged, avoiding a direct hit. With a bang, a huge pit was formed.

Shen Tian also transformed into flame, and two light waves rushed out. With a bang, the two collided instantly, causing an explosion that reverted the two back to their original forms.

At that moment, the creatures, each the size of a fist and capable of causing fatal poisoning, scattered in all directions.

With the stench of death lingering in the air, members of the New City Sect started panicking and running around randomly. The sight of the numerous creatures caused quite a stir. Ye Chen quickly rushed over to help, and with a loud bang, launched several beams of light, eliminating a large batch of them.

After facing off with Ye Chen for quite some time, Shen Tian realised he didn’t stand a chance of defeating him. Moreover, the Zen Master had not given his approval. He was still waiting to hear from the master about how to proceed. Seeing as these creatures had already been released, there was no need for him to continue playing along.

These creatures, resembling Poisonous Scorpions but far more terrifying, were running around and biting anything they encountered. Due to their speedy movements, if a person wasn’t careful, the creatures could easily crawl onto their bodies from behind. As the number of these creatures increased, people realized they could only watch out for threats in front of them and not behind.

At this moment, Ye Chen came up with a plan and shouted, “Don’t go alone, stand back to back in pairs and assist each other.”

These creatures could also jump, startlingly high even, directly onto people’s bodies, which was quite frightening. Many people were terrified.

Jiang Zhuge, however, couldn’t let them escape. He knew that these creatures needed to be destroyed. Leaving them would undoubtedly cause a catastrophe and harm many more people.

Ye Chen yelled, “Girl, get over here, quick. If one of them jumps on you and you end up frothing at the mouth like mad, don’t blame me!”

“You’re the one who’ll be frothing at the mouth!” Wei Yiling shouted back.

Ye Chen could only look after a certain area, as he was faster than most and could handle the situation more easily. However, he couldn’t possibly keep an eye on everyone. He quickly called Ling’er over, warning her, “I told you to stay back, but you didn’t listen. Now you understand the danger. Don’t let them crawl into your clothes.”

A movement out of the corner of his eye made Ye Chen quickly dodge a clawed swipe.

“Be careful, keep an eye on your fronts!”

Sure enough, five or six creatures lunged at him at once. Ye Chen released five or six beams of light, resembling Silver Needles, directly knocking those creatures down.

Jiang Zhuge quickly ordered people to drag down those who were bitten, poisoned but not yet dead.

“Damn it, what should we do? It looks like these creatures have targeted me.” Facing the increasing number of these venomous creatures, Ling’er was growing fearful. These creatures could jump oddly high and were becoming increasingly numerous. It seemed too hectic to handle, and she was starting to feel afraid.

“Just noticed, huh? You probably sprayed something on yourself, which attracted them. I told you not to spray that scent, but you didn’t listen. See, you regret it now, don’t you? Dressed up like a monster, of course, you’ll attract monsters.”

He dodged a swift kick.

“Hey, be careful. Don’t knock me over. I’m here shielding you, remember?”

Facing these creatures that were becoming increasingly numerous, people behind they had run off. A handful of these creatures suddenly pounced on Ye Chen. Caught off guard, Ye Chen quickly glanced at the house next to them and said, “Climb up. Fast!”

“Climb up?”

“Yes, hurry. I can’t hold them off much longer. Climb the scaffolding to the second floor.”

Forming a light wave, Ye Chen was able to kill off a large cluster of the creatures. He was becoming increasingly out of breath, with no time to even rest. These creatures were jumping all over the place like grasshoppers. A moment of carelessness resulted in them directly jumping on his clothes. Although he had quick reflexes, there were things that he didn’t anticipate.

“Move faster, you’re as slow as a pig!”

Glares were exchanged between them, and she retorted, “You’re the one who’s as slow as a pig!”

“Alright, alright, I was wrong. I never should have insulted you, especially not as a person. Quick now, I seriously can’t hold them off any longer.” Saying this, he gave her a push and also quickly climbed up himself, entering through a window at the back of the building.
