Chapter 1389 - 1389 1375 Landlubber
Chapter 1389: Chapter 1375: Landlubber Chapter 1389: Chapter 1375: Landlubber The ship returned to its original position, and Ye Chen descended from the top of the ship. Those landlubbers scattered in every direction, with everyone’s attention focused on the surface of the water.
With a “swoosh,” the enormous head of the Pangu Beast emerged from the water, opening its mouth wide and extending its claws, lunging directly towards the ship. Just as it was about to succeed, a rope was chopped off, and one end of that rope was tied to a thick log suspended atop a tree, which several people combined could not embrace.
The log perched above instantly lost its balance, despite another rope still being tied to one end.
The thick log swung like a pendulum, tracing an arc through the air, rushing past one side of the Pangu Beast and striking it on the neck.
The Pangu Beast was somewhat unprepared, and with a thunderous crash, several thousand pounds smashed against it, sending the beast flying to the other side and tumbling heavily to the ground.
The ship repelled the Pangu Beast’s claws.
A large net fell from the sky, covering the Pangu Beast like a pot lid. They rushed over with knives as if they had captured a wild boar.
But they soon regretted it, as the monster, recovering its senses, tore the net to shreds.
Ye Chen had told them two days ago that the net might work for catching sharks, but it stood no chance against the Pangu Beast. Yet Iron Bull, that boorish fellow with a bull ring, hadn’t believed him and had set it up anyway.
Now, it finally proved that what Ye Chen had said was right.
The Pangu Beast, with claws as sharp as steel knives, shredded the giant net made of bark and climbed up from the ground. The beast probably still had a concussion from the impact and hadn’t fully recovered yet.
The thick log was still swinging above its head back and forth.
As a result, with a swish of its tail, the Pangu Beast sliced through the rope holding up the log, which crashed down directly. If those landlubbers hadn’t run fast, who knows how many would have been crushed.
Blood still dribbled from the corner of the Pangu Beast’s mouth, indicating that the blow had indeed been heavy. Like seeking revenge, the Pangu Beast roared, and fireballs flew chaotically in every direction.
Upon seeing this, the group who were cutting up the meat realized the gravity of the situation, turned around, and sought cover again.
Ye Chen just shook his head. These useless fellows could only cause trouble and were of no help in any other regard.
Meng Xiuluo, worried that the ship would catch fire, shouted, “Cheap guy, quickly lure the Pangu Beast away and into the trap!”
Flounder, treating him as their hitman! But upon rational thought, Ye Chen indeed needed to lead the Pangu Beast away quickly. If the ship was destroyed, they would be stuck on the island playing a slow game of death with the Pangu Beast. He certainly didn’t want to stay on this island, accompanying the beast. He had survived several near-death experiences over the past few days.
The Pangu Beast seemed intent on going on a killing spree.
If it wanted to kill those despicable landlubbers, Ye Chen didn’t care. They truly deserved a lesson, or else they would never understand his importance. Those past few days, without him, how could those guys have had it so easy? Today, they should learn what they were up against.
But he couldn’t let the monster destroy the ship.
First, he’d draw away the furious beast. He knew it was a mad dog, a rabid dog that wouldn’t spit out bones after devouring its prey.
Lightning struck, hitting the head of the Pangu Beast.
He landed right in front of the Pangu Beast, which snorted through its bull nostrils, seemingly recognizing him. Although it didn’t speak, its gaze seemed to say, “Kid, it seems you really are tired of living.”
Ye Chen hadn’t run far when fireballs flew at him like a meteor shower, with the Pangu Beast closely following behind, launching a shockwave that sent Ye Chen flying out of it.
Ye Chen quickly crawled out from among the bushes. It seemed he truly had angered it, and he could feel its murderous intent, those eyes larger than a human head.
Another flame came his way, and Ye Chen leaped out just in time, the row of trees behind him already reduced to nothing, not a single one left intact.
Ye Chen knew it was bad news, but what could he do? Only he had the skills. Those landlubbers had all turned into turtles hiding their heads, and he couldn’t find a single one willing to help. He couldn’t possibly call for Flounder to come over; after all, he was a grown man.
He zigzagged like a monkey, using the dense trees to dodge the fireballs and lead the Pangu Beast away.
The Pangu Beast took the bait and moved further from the ship, but now it was locked in battle with him.
Guo Yuyun was atop a tree whistling, and Ye Chen knew what the girl meant. She wanted him to lead the beast into a trap. Of course, Ye Chen wanted to do just that, but at that moment, he was running for his life, with the possibility of being roasted at any second.
Cursing, Ye Chen yelled, “You bunch of landlubbers, weren’t you all capable, claiming you could make it without me? What now, turned into turtles hiding your heads?” and they all went into hiding.
The shorter man beside Barbarian remarked, “Cheap guy is scolding us, calling us landlubbers and turtles hiding our heads.”
But Barbarian replied, “Who cares, a couple of words don’t matter.” On the ship, he had barely managed to dodge, and the Pangu Beast had already cost the lives of a dozen of his men. He didn’t want to risk his life over pride; it wasn’t worth it.
“Really expert at being turtles hiding their heads,” Ye Chen admitted defeat to those landlubbers. He had heard that fellow boast that without him, they could have easily dealt with the Pangu Beast just a few days ago. Now scared into hiding, it was laughably pathetic.
Meng Xiuluo also climbed to the top of the tree.
Utilizing the density of the trees, his lightness skills, and the Pangu Beast’s cumbersome turns in the woods, Ye Chen led the creature around in circles.
This circle was meant to get them ready.
The Pangu Beast knocked down a row of trees behind him.
Ye Chen was trapped under a fallen tree and couldn’t get out for a while.
Meng Xiuluo, afraid of missing the chance, quickly had Barbarian help out.
Barbarian could only go out and make some noise.
Ye Chen quickly seized the opportunity to crawl out,
Barbarian, imitating Ye Chen, led the monster around the forest, but his lightness skills were too poor. He shouted, “Kid, now that you’re out, hurry up and help.”
Ye Chen said coldly, “Wait until you survive two rounds.”
“Damn it, don’t pull that crap with me, kiddo.”
“I advise you to watch your language.”
Barbarian felt the fire burning behind his backside.
Ye Chen, rubbing his sore arm, had survived and glanced at the treetops, making sure of the trap’s location, lest he missed the chance later.
The flounder above was signaling to him; it seemed she was fully prepared, just waiting for him to lead the Pangu Beast into it.
The Pangu Beast, like mad, discharged a Fireball, and the parched duck disappeared to who knows where, releasing black smoke like a squid releasing ink. The Pangu Beast passed through the smoke, and Barbarian had vanished into some hole, narrowly escaping disaster.
“Heh, so that’s all you’ve got.”
Ye Chen stepped forward and hurled several fierce bolts of lightning directly at the Pangu Beast, only for a blaze from the beast to instantly swallow up the lightning unleashed by Ye Chen.
Feeling the situation was bad, Ye Chen swiftly moved to the side, heading straight for the trap. He hoped it wouldn’t be as bad as before, otherwise, he really couldn’t play this game with the Pangu Beast.
Using the Swift Movement Technique to dodge the Pangu Beast, Ye Chen led it in that direction. Whether they could drive back the Pangu Beast hinged on this move. Ye Chen knew it would be extremely difficult, but there was no other option.
Ye Chen muttered, “Don’t screw up now, if you screw up again, you guys can play on your own, I can’t afford to play with you anymore.”
The Pangu Beast continued to chase. Suddenly, Ye Chen spun around, releasing all of his energy in an instant, aiming straight for the Pangu Beast’s head, halting it in its tracks.
Two Fireballs raced toward Ye Chen, who slashed one apart with a palm strike, then dodged the other with a swift move.
Then, ropes from all around were chopped down, revealing the location of the trap. Large chunks of wood, stones, and Fireballs all pressed down on the Pangu Beast, which was exactly what Ye Chen was aiming for.
The Pangu Beast, likely taken by surprise, gave Ye Chen a chance. Whether it was mudfish on the shore or Iron Bull at sea, Ye Chen charged at the Pangu Beast with everything, the beast seemingly doubting whether the island was collapsing with all the stones, Fireballs, and lightning assaulting it.
It was engulfed in flames.
At this moment, it was like beating a drowned dog, overwhelmed by a powerful force.
Boom boom boom…
The ground shook as if to bury it alive, with everything converging upon it. Those stones weren’t light, having taken a great effort to haul into position over several days, now for the Pangu Beast to digest.
Ye Chen certainly wouldn’t let the Pangu Beast off easily.
The Pangu Beast emerged, as if having a nightmare, frantically breaking out of the encirclement and seemingly having only one way out – to run or die.
It really did run away, a first time for everything.
It must have been injured, but how seriously was unclear. Confirmed it truly ran away, fleeing into the woods.
Ye Chen was still somewhat in disbelief. The invincible Pangu Beast had also known fear, probably due to concern over how many more traps there were waiting for it, prompting its flight.
The fierce fire was still burning.
After the monster vanished, the people didn’t dare to come out immediately, possibly suspecting it was all an illusion, or that the monster would return soon. They had every reason for such skepticism, but after half an hour without the Pangu Beast reappearing, the doubts were thoroughly quashed.
Guo Yuyun was still in the tree, uncertain of the situation below, asking, “Is it gone?”
“It seems to have run away, but I’d advise you to stay in the tree a little longer, just in case it comes back swinging.” He was certain the monster had only suffered light injuries or had simply been scared off by their show of force.
