Chapter 1376 - 1376 1362 Drenched Chicken
Chapter 1376: Chapter 1362: Drenched Chicken Chapter 1376: Chapter 1362: Drenched Chicken Guo Yuyun, panting and out of breath, scolded, “I told you not to go in there, but you wouldn’t listen, and now you’re regretting it, aren’t you.”
“Run fast, if we don’t run now, it will catch up to us,” Ye Chen called out.
“It’s all your fault for farting, otherwise that thing wouldn’t have been able to find us.”
“Blame this morning’s Sweet Potato.”
“You are the Sweet Potato.”
With a roar followed by a Fireball flying, Ye Chen kicked Guo Yuyun into the bushes on the left side while he jumped into the woods on the right.
The Fireball passed just between them.
Ye Chen quickly got up.
He saw a creature with purplish-grey skin looking as if it had been plucked from the embers; it was thirty feet tall, ninety feet long, its mouth filled with sharp teeth, green eyes as large as lanterns, two antelope horns, four eagle claws, covered in Qilin armor, and bringing with it flames as it suddenly burst out of the cave, roaring and turning its head as if searching for its prey.
Ye Chen stood up and shouted, “Stay down, don’t get up.”
Guo Yuyun wasn’t as quick to get up and was still cursing at that fellow for daring to kick her. But then she saw the trees in front of her had exploded, turning into charred wood. Had she not moved fast enough, she would have ended up charred instead.
The dragon-like monster spotted Ye Chen in an instant.
Ye Chen froze, not even sure what it was. It resembled a dragon but wasn’t quite one.
Assured that the monster hadn’t noticed Yun’er hiding in the brush, Ye Chen felt somewhat relieved. However, he knew danger was looming over him.
Two flames came at him, one after the other; Ye Chen deflected one and dodged the other, while shouting at the same time, “Quickly go down the mountain and tell them there’s a monster up here, so they can get ready to leave. I’ll lead it away.”
He dashed into the woods, not waiting for Guo Yuyun’s response.
The ninety-foot creature, slithering like a lizard, followed suit.
Yun’er got up, and they both disappeared into the woods behind them, leaving only a plume of black smoke and collapsed trees.
Guo Yuyun rubbed her sore and numb buttocks. That monkey had been quite vicious, but Ye Chen’s warning reminded her—the people down the mountain didn’t know what was happening up here. If the ships were destroyed by the monster, when would they be able to leave this desolate island!
But she also worried whether that monkey would be eaten by the monster.
It seemed useless to worry, and with no time to hesitate, she turned and headed straight down the mountain.
The creature must have gone a long time without eating meat, or it wouldn’t have pursued them so relentlessly—it was just a fart, after all, was such humiliation necessary!
Fireballs kept coming, one after another, and as Ye Chen dodged left and right, he muttered, “If I could use the Wolf King’s Ring, I’d make you suffer.”
Fortunately, his light-footed skills were quite impressive, allowing him to easily avoid them.
But the danger wasn’t past yet; it seemed the creature had locked onto him. It was unnecessary to be so obsessed; the forest was full of animals. With goats and sika deer, it should have had enough for a feast, but it just wouldn’t quit.
Ye Chen’s agility was indeed impressive, but he still couldn’t shake off the monster, which seemed incensed as if it enjoyed a challenge, following closely behind with unyielding determination.
Ye Chen had no intention of tangling with it; he was on the back mountain because heading toward the front might endanger the people below—a situation he absolutely needed to avoid.
Yet the back mountain was clearly steeper than the front, and he needed to think of a way to shake off this bullnose monster.
He had already unleashed several palm strikes, emitting lightning, only to find the monster’s skin was incredibly thick, like iron, and nothing he did seemed to work. Maybe his earlier strikes had enraged it, and that was why it was so hellbent on him.
But it was the monster who threw Fireballs first; he had to retaliate, otherwise, it would be too demeaning. Now it was too late for words; he needed to figure out how to shake it off as quickly as possible—that was the most important thing.
Luckily, he had spent two days on the back mountain and was quite familiar with its paths.
No mistake about it, there was a pond not far behind—the water there was deep. If he dived in, the creature would have no way of following. That was the plan.
Roaring sounds kept coming, louder and closer. Meng Xiuluo rose to the surface, wondering if it was thunder and might rain soon, and called out, “Xiang Yi.”
But she didn’t hear Xiang Yi respond.
Meng Xiuluo checked the sky, which wasn’t dark. Where did the thunder come from? Pondering if she had misheard, she doubted she was of the age to experience tinnitus yet.
She hesitated, wondering whether to go up and get dressed.
Before she could decide to leave the water, the sound of Dragon Roar approached, as if coming from just behind her. Looking up,
An ominous shadow appeared above her head. As she turned, the shadow plunged into the water right in front of her, just barely missing her head.
A huge splash soaked her face again, and the person emerged from the water.
As Ye Chen turned around, he was startled to see Meng Xiuluo, disheveled; that girl was actually soaking in the bath, her fair skin tempting one to dive in and appreciate her lower half.
Meng Xiuluo nearly froze, suspecting that this guy had been peeping at her from above. She angrily said, “You big pervert!”
Ye Chen glanced upward at the cliff and quickly warned, “Quiet down, let’s dive under the water.”
The creature was already diving near them.
“What are you doing!” She was wearing nothing at that moment.
Ye Chen didn’t have time for modesty and urgently said, “There’s a monster.” Immediately after, he grabbed her hand and pulled her under with him, disregarding any of her struggles. There was no time for explanations.
A roar thundered and the nine-meter tall monster had already landed, standing right by the edge of the pool.
Although they had sunk to the bottom of the water, they could still make out the monstrous creature’s form through the blurry water.
Meng Xiuluo had been ready to give Ye Chen a “monkey steals the peach” move, but once the massive creature slammed down, she knew things had taken a turn for the worse and didn’t use her ultimate technique.
The colossal beast loitered by the pool’s edge, as if it had caught a whiff of humans, not just any scent, but the clothes hanging from the bamboo, which had piqued its olfactory interest.
A blaze of fire shot out, reducing the clothes to ashes.
After scanning its surroundings and determining the strange scent was gone, the monster leaped toward the foot of the mountain.
Disappearing into the dense forest below, it left behind only the fading sound of a Dragon Roar.
Struggling for air, the two of them urgently surfaced.
Meng Xiuluo was still coughing from being choked, slowly recovering.
“You okay?” Ye Chen asked with concern.
“My clothes. Oh no!”
Ye Chen had just regained his composure when he realized she was not wearing any clothes and began to look underwater.
A slap came flying at him, causing Ye Chen to turn his head away.
Ye Chen quickly said, “I didn’t mean to look, really, I couldn’t help it.”
“Then stop looking this way right now.”
Xiang Yi, who had been singing folk songs in the forest, called out, “I’ve found so many mushrooms in the woods!” But before she could finish, she saw Ye Chen swim up while Meng Xiuluo remained in the water.
As the mushrooms fell from her hands, Xiang Yi flew over and asked, “What are you guys doing?”
Ye Chen replied, “Playing lovebirds in the water, wanna join?” he said, heading towards the edge of the pool where the creature had left large claw marks, easily the size of a person.
Meng Xiuluo’s head was the only thing above water as she shouted, “Give me your clothes now!”
Only then did Ye Chen remember, and said, “Why what’s mine? Why don’t you ask that girl for clothes?”
“Where’s your shirt?” Spotting the huge claw mark, Xiang Yi asked again, “What the hell happened?”
“My clothes were burned by that monster,” Meng Xiuluo explained.
“Monster, what monster?” Xiang Yi recalled the Dragon Roar from earlier, thinking it was a tiger or something, so she hurried back.
“Hey, are you planning to leave me here in the water to keep on hiding?” Meng Xiuluo in the pool said, anxious about the monster potentially returning.
Xiang Yi offered, “I can give you my clothes, but I only have this one on.”
Ye Chen looked at her and said, “Then wear nothing at all.”
Xiang Yi glared at him, demanding, “Hurry up, take off your shirt.”
“He seemed to have fun hiding in the water, he likes bathing, so now he can soak to his heart’s content,” Ye Chen said, turning back and purposely peering into the water, the girl unable to do anything about it.
“Xiang Yi, make him turn his head away fast.”
“Turn or not, he has seen it all already,” Ye Chen said as he took off his dripping wet shirt, bared his chest, and tossed the garment to Xiang Yi.
Xiang Yi hurriedly wrung the water out of the shirt.
“You bastard, move away, why are you still sitting there?” Meng Xiuluo cried from the pool.
“You hear that, move aside,” Xiang Yi called out, very curious about what had just happened.
Ye Chen moved out of the way.
It didn’t take long for the two to appear, Ye Chen surfaced once more, thankful that the dress was long enough to pass without wearing pants.
Meng Xiuluo called out, “What exactly happened?”
Turning his head, Ye Chen saw her wrapped in his shirt, but he couldn’t resist looking her up and down again.
“What are you looking at?”
“Not bad at all,” Ye Chen remarked on her figure.
“Pervert,” a stone flew past as she snapped.
Dodging swiftly, Ye Chen said, “We better leave fast before that thing comes back.”
Soon Meng Xiuluo was filled in on the events that had transpired.
Ye Chen explained, “It’s not like I was peeking at you bathing, how could I know you were in the pool? If I had known, I wouldn’t have gone inside the cave, then I wouldn’t have encountered the monster.”
“How come we never heard of a monster in the past few days?” Xiang Yi wondered aloud.
“To be honest, we’re just as puzzled. When we went up the mountain days ago, there clearly was no such cave. It must have appeared today, and we just went inside to take a look. Then this happened,” Ye Chen elaborated.
