Chapter 1335 - 1335 1321 The Lonely Island
Chapter 1335: Chapter 1321: The Lonely Island Chapter 1335: Chapter 1321: The Lonely Island Guo Yuyun was as if she had seen a ghost.
Ye Chen gave her yet another fright. She was always so jumpy that even without any real danger, she could scare herself into trouble.
Guo Yuyun reached out her finger to check if the pale girl still had a breath.
Although the breathing was faint, she could confirm the girl wasn’t dead,
That was when she noticed a long scratch beneath her chest, likely from something sharp. Her bloodied clothing seemed to have been washed by seawater, so it was no longer red.
“Is she dead?” Ye Chen asked.
Guo Yuyun shook her head, then suddenly remembered something and frisked the girl as if she intended to commit an indecency, searching for the Wolf King’s Ring. The girl was their leader, so the ring must be on her. True enough, she found it on her neck, just like it had been on Ye Chen’s before, and pulled it off to give to Ye Chen.
Ye Chen took it, still looking at the girl, seemingly with a sense of pity and tenderness.
Guo Yuyun called out, “Let’s go. I’m hungry. Let’s see if we can find something to eat,” trying to pull Ye Chen away.
“Just leave her here like this?” Although the girl had previously tried to hurt Ling’er, she hadn’t killed her. After that, they’d had many conflicts, but they had also interacted like friends, despite her ulterior motives. Ye Chen had always seen her as a friend.
Guo Yuyun turned back, glaring at the drooling fool, and said, “Are you planning to take her with us?” She wished she could just slit the girl’s throat, and if not for the fear of being too bloody, she would have done it already.
Ye Chen glanced around and said, “Leaving her here is no different from killing her.”
Guo Yuyun snorted contemptuously and said, “Haven’t you woken up from that hot pot slap yet?”
“True, she hit me, but there really isn’t anyone else here. If we don’t save her, she’s going to die here.”
“I think you just can’t bear to part with a beauty,” she said.
“How is that possible? I’m serious. Although our relationship with her isn’t great, she’s a friend. If we leave her here to die, she’ll really die here,” he said, looking at the pale girl.
Guo Yuyun was so angry she was at a loss for words and shouted, “Do you want to heal her so she can come after us again? Are you masochistic?”
“But we can’t just leave her here like this. At the very least, we should treat her before we go,” Ye Chen argued.
“Don’t bother, her wound is deep. She won’t live much longer,” Guo Yuyun said, noticing Ye Chen’s almost popping eyes.
At the sound of a cough, Ye Chen quickly ran over to feel the girl’s forehead—it was clearly feverish, probably due to an infection at the wound site. If they didn’t help, she would die right here.
Seeing him rush over and fuss around the girl, Guo Yuyun couldn’t stand it and pushed him away.
The two of them propped the girl up and took her to the nearby Coconut Grove. Ye Chen was preparing to treat her wound when Guo Yuyun kicked him away and demanded, “What are you doing?”
“I’m going to treat the wound, of course.”
“Treating the wound? I think you just want to take advantage of her.”
“Hey, at a time like this, when she’s all limp, what am I supposed to do?” Ye Chen retorted. “Do you think you can do it? Do you know acupuncture?”
Guo Yuyun’s eyes were already wide with anger as she responded, “I know how to feel for bones.”
Ye Chen just smiled.
“Hurry up and get lost. Go find us something to eat.”
Ye Chen tossed down his handkerchief and said, “Alright, after I clean the wound, I’ll treat her.”
Guo Yuyun could hardly believe she was about to treat the wounds of this damned woman who had nearly killed her twice. Every encounter with her had been anything but pleasant. She should have killed her, yet she couldn’t bring herself to do it. That’s the difference between bad people and good people: bad people can always harm others regardless of the situation, while good people can’t bear to leave even their enemies to die without attempting to help.
Ye Chen started a fire as they were at a beachhead with a cliff behind them, the Coconut Grove next to them, and dense woods beyond.
Ye Chen caught some fish, cleaned them, and put them on the grill. Before he knew it, two hours had passed.
By that time, Guo Yuyun approached, a fierce look in her eyes.
“You didn’t actually kill her, did you?”
“Yeah, your drool is leaking out,” Guo Yuyun said, grabbing some of the fish, which weren’t yet cooked.
“I’ve been thirsty all day, my mouth’s all dry. How could I drool?”
Guo Yuyun just couldn’t handle him; he was always like this, treating pretty women differently, and that was what she couldn’t stand the most.
“Hey, I just can’t bear to watch her die like this, since it’s a life after all.”
“Sure, if it were a man, you wouldn’t be so eager,” Guo Yuyun said coldly.
“That’s not necessarily true,” he replied.
“Not necessarily? I know you too well,” she retorted.
Ye Chen chuckled and said, “Don’t worry, I don’t have any special feelings for her.”
“You have a soft spot for all the pretty ones,” she remarked.
Ye Chen laughed again, “Watch the fire, I’m going to climb up and get some coconuts to quench your thirst.”
He ran ahead and upon inspection, he scaled the tree like a monkey and reached the top in the blink of an eye, though it was unclear when he had acquired such skills.
He looked left and right, quickly spotting a large bunch of seven or eight coconuts, and with a single slice, the whole bunch fell down.
Soon after making holes in them with his knife, they were able to drink the coconut water.
Only then did Guo Yuyun feel less thirsty, but the question of where they were, how to leave, and where to go lingered, saying, “Are we going to be stuck on this desolate island for the rest of our lives?”
Ye Chen laughed and replied, “If you’re willing to stay, I’m certainly not.”
“So, what do we do now?”
“First, let’s fill our stomachs, then we’ll talk,” said Ye Chen, who also drank two coconuts.
“How do we leave then?”
“This island seems pretty big, this is just a corner, there might be people living here.”
The fish was ready soon enough, and after they ate, Ye Chen helped Ling’er with her breathing for a while, making sure the qi within her had calmed down a lot, ready to perform acupuncture, so he had to ask Guo Yuyun to do it.
Guo Yuyun had learned a bit about it; although her skills were not great, she managed not to stab Ling’er in a way that would render her neither male nor female.
Before they knew it, night fell, and it seemed they would have to wait until daylight to figure out where exactly they were.
“Has her fever gone down?” Ye Chen asked with concern.
“You never show me this kind of concern,” Guo Yuyun coldly retorted.
“Who says I don’t care about you? I care about you to the extreme.”
“To the extreme my foot, you’re just talking big,” she scoffed.
“Be civil, young lady. Cussing like that could easily lead to a demotion,” he admonished.
“With this calamity on our hands, once she’s well, who can guarantee she won’t continue to go after us? I think you’re just asking for trouble. Besides that, I don’t know what else to say.”
“She’s just a girl, not our match, and certainly not yours,” said Ye Chen dismissively.
“She should be killed with a single strike to avoid harming others,” Guo Yuyun proposed coldly.
“Then why don’t you do it?” Ye Chen challenged her.
Ironically, despite Guo Yuyun’s harsh words, she truly couldn’t bring herself to kill an injured girl unless she was utterly detestable.
“So, don’t accuse me of being softhearted. I’m not in that kind of mood right now; I’m only thinking about carrying on the family line,” Ye Chen began to talk nonsense.
“So, you’re already thinking about carrying on the family line,” she mused.
“Of course, the greatest act of filial piety is to carry on the family line. I don’t want to be an unfilial son. Otherwise, I might as well offer you a ‘first come, first served’ deal.”
“You always have a foul mouth, incapable of saying anything nice,” Guo Yuyun grumbled, feeling hurt by his words. The matter with the magic power really couldn’t be ignored.
She didn’t get angry, much to Ye Chen’s surprise.
Meng Xiuluo slowly opened her eyes, feeling excruciating pain in her abdomen, realizing she was injured. But noticing the wound had been treated, she was surprised to find herself still alive, overhearing voices nearby.
About twelve yards away, she saw two people sitting by a fire, talking. Why them? So, it must be them who treated her wounds. She touched her neck and found the Wolf King Ring was gone, likely taken by them.
But why hadn’t they killed her when they had the chance? Instead, they even cleaned her wound.
What about the others? Why was it just them here? She only remembered the man behind the pillar, and that brute had been in front of her, not kicking her down before the storm went wild, smashing the boat to pieces with Su Zhanze’s sword slash.
Where was Xiang Yi? Was she alive?
And where the hell was this cursed place?
“Your flounder seems to have woken up,” said Guo Yuyun.
Ye Chen looked back and indeed, Meng Xiuluo was awake.
“You’d better hurry up with some food, and the coconut water, too. If you don’t shoot your shot now, you might lose a golden opportunity.”
“Shooting my shot is a given, but you’re not supposed to know,” Ye Chen retorted, grabbing two pieces of fish and two opened coconuts, and rushed over to her.
Meng Xiuluo questioned, “Did you treat my wound?”
“Relax, there’s another girl here.”
“She would treat my wound?” Meng Xiuluo asked incredulously, knowing she almost killed that girl, who must despise her by now.
“I really wanted to treat you, but she wouldn’t let me, so she had to do it,” Ye Chen explained, setting down the food and quickly running back as if worried Guo Yuyun would be angry.
Seeing him return, Guo Yuyun asked, “Didn’t you ask her to repay you with her body?”
“Right, normally, I would ask for such repayment at a time like this. What a shame, I forgot to do it. What a pity, such a shame,” he lamented playfully.
“It’s not too late to ask now,” she teased.
“I might as well wait until tomorrow morning to ask her,” he decided.
