Chapter 921: Slightly Backfired

Chapter 921: Chapter 921: Slightly Backfired

The next day, Peter Brown was up early, truly determined to be a good student and make the most of his precious high school days.

When he entered the classroom, he found that today, there were many more students in the class than usual, even those who often skip school had made an appearance.

Most importantly, the way people looked at him held a certain indescribable meaning.

"Peter, do you know what happened?" Elian Collins approached Peter and whispered.

"What happened?"

"Weren’t you not in your dorm last night? Did you go online again?"

"No, I rented a house outside and stayed there."

When Peter mentioned renting a house, Elian looked at him in surprise. He knew Peter’s family background, and he didn’t expect Peter to have the money to rent a house.

However, for Elian, it wasn’t such a big deal. His family was wealthy, and if it weren’t for the fact that his home was nearby, he would have rented a house long ago. Now, he occasionally stays in the school dormitory just for the convenience of going out to play games at night.

"You have no idea, Zachary Taylor and Fiona Jackson are dead!"

"Ah!"

Peter pretended to be astonished.

"You wouldn’t ask how they died?" A classmate who usually didn’t get along with Peter laughed and looked at Peter with interest.

"How did they die?" Peter pretended to be even more puzzled.

Laughing, the classmate named Michael Lee said, "You don’t know, do you? They went to a hotel to have sex, and they died, haha."

Peter pretended to frown and asked, "Is that possible?"

"Haha, wasn’t Fiona Jackson your girlfriend? How did she end up sleeping with Zachary Taylor?"

At that moment, Flora Nelson walked in with a heavy heart, followed by school leaders, who soon called Peter and the others to the office.

Several police officers were already sitting inside, and they brought Peter and the others into separate rooms to question them.

Peter simply told the police officer about renting a house outside. When asked why he had the money to rent it,Peter said he accidentally found a gold bar on the mountain and sold it to a gold shop. Since he happened to find it on the mountain, he wasn’t worried about it being confiscated or anything now that it has been exchanged for money. At most, he would have to give the money to the government.

After learning about Peter’s situation, the police officers didn’t ask any more questions. They had already investigated Zachary Taylor’s and Fiona Jackson’s deaths and even found a mysterious medicine package. It was said that they had died after taking the mysterious medicine.

The whole incident lasted for two days. The parents of the two deceased students also came to make a fuss at the school. However, the police investigation revealed that the two students had indeed voluntarily gone to the hotel to engage in sexual activity and had died after taking a potent medicine they had somehow obtained.

It was clear that the deaths were not murders, and this was the conclusion of the police.

Flora Nelson didn’t have any problems, either, since the incident occurred after school and the students had died outside.

As for Peter’s gold bar and his sale of it to the gold shop, the matter was also settled. After some debate, it was decided that Peter would hand over half of the profits to the national treasury, and then the matter was closed.

Everything went according to Peter’s plan, and he didn’t have any problems.

The school quickly settled down, and Peter began his peaceful life.

Through his studies, Peter had mastered all the knowledge from junior high to senior high school. For him, getting into a university was not a difficult task at all.

However, so many days had passed, and Peter had made no progress in obtaining Immortal power on Earth. This made him feel very frustrated.

Was there really no Immortal power on Earth?

Sitting in the classroom, Peter couldn’t help thinking about the matter of Immortal power and couldn’t concentrate on the lecture.

This was an English class, and Flora Nelson was teaching it. She had been observing Peter in secret recently and was genuinely surprised to see him become more studious and less likely to skip classes.

Could it be because of Fiona Jackson’s situation?

Flora had also heard that Fiona Jackson was Peter’s girlfriend and couldn’t help but gossip a bit.

"Peter, read this passage for us."

Flora saw Peter lost in thought and called on him to read aloud.

Peter was startled and realized his homeroom teacher had asked him to read the text, so he stood up.

The students in the class all turned their attention to Peter.

After figuring out the content he was supposed to read, Peter recited it without even opening his book. His pronunciation was spot-on, and he recited the text in its entirety without even looking at it.

At first, Flora didn’t pay attention, but after comparing the text to the book, her face was full of amazement.

As amazed as Flora was, the students in the class were even more astonished. They had no idea Peter could be so impressive.

"What the hell!"

"No way!"

"What’s going on?"

These academically-challenged students in the class were suddenly in awe of Peter.

After quickly reciting the entire passage, Peter stood there and looked at Flora.

At that moment, Flora was somewhat stunned. She didn’t expect such an outcome and looked at Peter with wide eyes.

"Have you memorized it before?"

"Yes, I have."

"Sit down."

Flora let Peter sit down and then addressed the class: "See? Peter Brown’s grades have improved significantly through his own hard work. The college entrance examination is not far off for all of you, and you can do well as long as you work hard. I hope you all give it your best in this final stretch, and believe in yourselves..."

Flora used Peter as a role model and genuinely shared words of encouragement.

When the bell rang for the end of class, the whole classroom went wild. Everyone gathered around Peter, even some academically successful female students looked at Peter with amazement.

Seeing everyone’s gazes, Peter smiled and said, "Since I moved out and started living off-campus, I’ve been fully focused on my studies, and I’ve made some progress."

Ever since helping someone without asking for anything in return and not being appreciated for it, Peter had stopped helping others voluntarily. If he really wanted to help, he could refine a batch of Open Spiritual Pills, and then take a Spirit Enhancing Pill to solve the problem. However, Peter didn’t want to attract too much attention this time, so he simply used the excuse of making progress while studying off-campus.

Everyone was just curious. After asking, they didn’t ask any more about it.
