Chapter 345: Section 235: Everyone is a bridge to happiness for each other (4)_3
"Don’t shoot! Turn on the flashlight!"
"I see the purple spirit light! There’s a lot! Where’s the UV grenade?!"
Cassie and Cohen were roaring.
Wraiths were shrieking.
"Who took my grenade!" Engma screamed, followed by sounds of a struggle.
"Malin! What did you touch?!" Liu Jin could feel Malin in front of him fighting with something, as he could see some light flickering.
"Damn it, the lights in the corridor are on!" Cassie shouted in despair.
The next second, sacred light arose—a small but holy sphere of light rose, illuminating half the corridor, revealing the wraiths’ final forms, the shocked faces of their four owners, and Malin, holding the World Tree Sapling, nailing a wraith woman to the ground.
"What’s going on." Liu Jin looked around, the area was covered in ash piles, he knew these were residuals after the wraiths were purified.
"I’m not sure what that little thing is." Cohen, while watching Bippo run towards Malin, took a half-rotted tongue off his shoulder—the last gift of a banshee to the world: "Gross."
"We survived?" Engma, contorting on the ground in a struggle with the air, asked his standing friends.
"Of course, we’re back, all thanks to Malin." Cassie approached, eyeing the bite wounds on Engma’s face, and took out a bottle of Holy Water: "Hold on, I’ll rinse your wound."
As soon as the Holy Water touched Engma, the kid screamed his lungs out, and black mist visibly rose from his body.
Finally, Engma stopped screaming on his own, and trembling, he looked at the surrounding four: "I, I was possessed just now?"
"Right, this Holy Water is good, who gave it to you?" Cohen helped Engma up, then looked towards Cassie, who pointed at Malin: "He said my Holy Water wasn’t pure and helped me purify it."
"Grade five Holy Water, rather effective." Malin smiled, tossing the beautiful gem he had extracted from the banshee to Cohen: "I’m just a worker; this belongs to you."
"Damn, I’m not wearing gloves, and I only have two Curses, don’t curse me." Cohen, frantic, threw the gem back to Malin: "You keep it, without you, we’d all be dead by now."
Malin caught the gem, then perceptively noticed all four young men had fallen silent.
Malin frowned—wait a minute, can you four not do this now? We’re almost at our destination; can’t you find your consciences at a better time? Since we’ve acted this long, just play it out to the end, so at least if I have to kill you, I’ll be justified.
While thinking this, Malin heard footsteps and turned to look at the steps in the trap area.
The four youngsters also heard the footsteps, looking panicked towards the steps in front of Malin.
Then the five watched a shabby Lich rushing up in a frenzy, followed by a few pathetic minions, looking absolutely miserable.
Moreover, Malin noticed that the Lich seemed completely unaware of people above, he glanced back at the steps, rushed a few more steps, and only then, amid the shrill cries of his subordinates, turned his attention to Malin’s side.
Then Malin saw the Lich step, lastly and perfectly, onto the trap pedal that was dark red in his scout spirit light vision.
Then a chain of explosions engulfed everything.
Malin had to raise a wind wall to block the dust and debris, then saw a skull crash at his feet.
It seemed to be ’alive,’ only the jaw was missing, and the red Soul Fire in its eye sockets flickered like a dying candle.
Malin thought for a moment and fired a Cure Minor Wounds at it, seeing the Soul Fire in its sockets retract, then extinguish.
"What the hell is this?" Cohen was still struggling to grasp the situation, but Liu Jin’s acting was explosive: "Who set this trap up there!? This is madness...no, it’s collapsing!" At this moment, Malin also felt the ground trembling. After some thought, he ultimately reached out to help Cassie up: "Let’s go!"
"This way! Here!" Malin led the group into the corridor, smashed the wall near the pit with the World Tree Sapling, and then fashioned a vine with two Saplings nailed into the ceiling, dangling down.
"If you have a carabiner on your waist, clip it onto the ring!" Malin said while clipping his carabiner in place.
Unfortunately, only Liu Jin and Cohen of the four had one, but it didn’t matter much, Malin grabbed Engma with one hand and Cassie with the other, and shook the World Tree Saplings, swinging them out through the breach.
Following also were several brainless Corpse Ghouls, but they failed to grasp anything and could only fall helplessly into the pit.
The World Tree Sapling swung the five and a half lads onto the second floor’s platform, and as soon as Malin landed, he pushed them upwards: "Go! Keep moving!"
The collapse of the fourth floor seemed to continue, and Malin, for safety, had the four lads run faster, even casting an Acceleration Spell on them.
At this point, the four lads were running for their lives, with the half-elf Cassie leading the way, even Malin was having trouble keeping up. Thankfully, the second floor was void of Spirits, and Cassie occasionally helped Malin with the others, staggering up to the elevator only to find it broken.
