Chapter 82: Red Juice
Chapter 82: Red Juice
All sorts of bullying were directed at him.
He was constantly ’pranked’ by other students. His lockers were always filled with hate remarks or garbage. He was disturbed while eating, receiving jeering remarks and mocking laughter from others. He was called by many names.
Bei Sangyun had thought that she wouldn’t be affected much by watching all of these. After all, she was a ruthless person who had done worse to her enemies.
However, as she watched these videos one by one, seeing Fei Chuan being mistreated by others who didn’t even compare to his little finger, made her blood boil.
What made her more frustrated and angry was that, in most of those videos, she could be seen in the scene.
She watched the entire situation coldly or left when things started. She always left without looking back. At the end of those videos, she could see Fei Chuan glancing at her disappearing figure.
In the eyes of others, she might have been mistaken as the person who orchestrated everything.
Bei Sangyun’s throat became parched.
She closed her eyes and clenched her hand to stop herself from shaking.
She was so angry and upset. She wanted to tear apart those people who dared to touch Fei Chuan. But most of all, she was angry at herself.
Just to not be outranked by him, she turned a blind eye to his suffering.
These videos started a spark and triggered the memories of the past.....
....
"Boss, did you not like the food in the canteen? I can order something else if you’d prefer," a lackey offered to Bei Sangyun with enthusiasm.
It was lunchtime, and everyone was eating in the cafeteria, including Bei Sangyun and her lackeys.
At the dining table, Bei Sangyun took only one bite and then ignored her food.
"No need," Bei Sangyun replied curtly. What was the point of ordering another dish when she couldn’t even taste it?
"Boss, you don’t seem to have any appetite. I can recommend some restaurants with delicious-"
"I said no need. Can you stop talking?" Bei Sangyun snapped back. Her face darkened, and her irritation was evident.
The lackey fell silent and looked down, feeling aggrieved.
The table fell into an awkward silence. The boss did not appear happy, and she seemed to be in a bad mood today.
One brave lackey broke the silence, trying to lighten the atmosphere. "Boss, someone informed me earlier that there’s going to be a good show."
Bei Sangyun made no comment. She had no interest in any show, nor did she want to engage in anything at the moment.
Today, she felt extremely frustrated.
She had been studying all day and had to attend several classes on etiquette, language courses, and extra lessons as a competitor for succession after school. She was learning a multitude of things simultaneously. She couldn’t afford a day of rest because falling behind might allow the other heirs to catch up.
Unlike the heirs from other branches who had learned etiquette and high society rules from a young age, Bei Sangyun had a lot of ground to cover, and she was struggling with it. She had started late and was required to stand out among her peers.
To do so, she had to master everything. If she were inferior in any area, her father would be disappointed.
She didn’t have a strong background to start with, and her father would only support her if she achieved outstanding results. Bei Sangyun had nothing to offer and could only excel through her skills and capabilities.
The pressure was taking a toll on her mental and physical health.
Her illness had relapsed again and she had lost her appetite. This damn illness wasn’t helping at all.
To make it worse, she had to constantly face ridicule from the Lin family members. She was too exhausted to continuously prove herself.
All of this was making her feel suffocated, as if someone was choking her and making it difficult to breathe.
What’s more, she couldn’t vent her frustration or show any weakness, which made her increasingly irritable. She wanted to lash out at everyone and tell them to back off. She wanted to run away and leave everything behind.
This irritable feeling, coupled with her illness, was hindering her ability to focus.
How could she concentrate on her studies in this state?
Bei Sangyun was truly in a foul mood, it was obvious from her dark expression and the cold aura surrounding her.
The lackeys exchanged glances and refrained from speaking further. They didn’t want to be the unfortunate ones to incur the tyrant’s wrath.
Splash.
The lively cafeteria suddenly fell silent as a carton of juice flew through the air and struck a person.
The red juice splattered across a clean white uniform, soaking Fei Chuan. Some of it spilled onto his food.
The crowd erupted in loud cheers.
"Boss, this is the show I was talking about!" the lackey beside her excitedly cheered as well.
Bei Sangyun looked over and saw Fei Chuan cleaning the red juice from his hair. He raised his head, and his gaze happened to meet hers.
The eyes behind the curtain of bangs looked clear and determined, as if, no matter how bleak the world might be, those eyes would always be full of life.
Another carton of juice was thrown and hit Fei Chuan’s chest, further staining his uniform.
Bei Sangyun frowned.
She couldn’t understand why Fei Chuan chose to remain silent in this situation. The Fei Chuan she knew would silence everyone with his cold glare and sharp words.
Watching the whole scene made Bei Sangyun uncomfortable, and her irritation surged once again. She tore her eyes away from the scene.
There was no point in wondering about such questions since she wasn’t going to do anything about it. This situation was advantageous for her.
But it didn’t mean she enjoyed watching it.
Bei Sangyun stood up. Her lackeys wanted her to stay and watch the scene to make her happy, but one glare from Bei Sangyun made them understand that they shouldn’t persuade her to stay.
Bei Sangyun left. Out of sight, out of mind.
Her only consolation in this situation was that it wasn’t just her who was having a tough time. That man who once lived like a treasured prince was facing difficulties too.
At least, she wasn’t alone.
