Lin Sunji was taken aback, glancing at Bei Sangyun in puzzlement.
While she was the top French student, Bei Sangyun’s French was more fluent than hers. Bei Sangyun had already proven that during their test in front of their grandfather.
Moreover, this was a golden opportunity to get closer to Simons, yet Bei Sangyun was handing it to her so easily?
In the past, Lin Sunji would have eagerly seized this chance without much thought. But Bei Sangyun’s actions now left her puzzled and made her doubt everything.
Even though Lin Sunji didn’t understand Bei Sangyun’s motives, she couldn’t let her have her way.
Lin Sunji frowned, "I’d be happy to sit beside Richard and guide him. However, he chose the seat beside you. I respect his decision."
Bei Sangyun raised her brow. She had expected that Lin Sunji would grab this opportunity. But Lin Sunji actually declined?
Richard walked to the last row and moved the seat by himself, seemingly indifferent to the conversation between Bei Sangyun and Lin Sunji, as if he didn’t quite grasp the language.
Placing the chair next to Bei Sangyun, he smiled at her and spoke in French, "I am glad you are in this class too. Please take care of me."
Bei Sangyun maintained her cold demeanor despite Richard’s friendly gesture.
Suddenly, Lin Sunji also stood up. "As the best student in French, it’s my duty to guide our classmate. I’ll sit beside him, teacher." She couldn’t completely give up on this opportunity.
Teacher Ong thought it was a good idea and asked another student to move Lin Sunji’s seat beside Richard.
Meanwhile, Bei Sangyun contemplated whether to create a scene to distance Richard from her. Lin Sunji’s action, however, gave her another idea. She turned to Fei Chuan. "Let’s exchange seats."
Fei Chuan raised his brow, "I thought our seating arrangement shall not be broken."
"I am talking about the two of us. No one should get in between us, as long as we sit beside each other."
Fei Chuan: "...." Bei Sangyun could really say the most embarrassing things with a straight face without getting embarrassed.
Richard overheard Bei Sangyun’s words, and his lips twitched. Is she moving away?
But Fei Chuan didn’t budge. "I prefer sitting beside the window. I thought you liked that seat too." He recalled hearing Bei Sangyun instructing her lackeys not to let anyone move her seat or change its position. She had even put her initials on the desk.
Bei Sangyun paused. Right. This was her magical seat. She can sleep in this chair without any unpleasant dreams. She was able to rest easily thanks to this chair. If she changed its position, would the magic still work?
She hadn’t imagined enduring an annoying person just because of a chair.
Bei Sangyun grumbled, then leaned closer to Fei Chuan and whispered, "Then you better not leave without me."
Fei Chuan raised an eyebrow, "?" Teasingly, he asked, "Does that include leaving for the restroom? Do you plan to accompany me there too?"
Bei Sangyun paused.
So now he knows how to tease? Last time he teased her about the cookie too. She could not help but smile.
Leaning in with a mischievous smile, she said, "I don’t mind. I can even watch you while you are peei--"
Fei Chuan pushed her forehead away, glaring at her. She seemed to lack any sense of shame.
Bei Sangyun laughed.
Richard, who had been paying attention to them, felt puzzled. It didn’t look like the relationship between them was that of a tyrant and a target; it seemed more like two high school students flirting.
He hadn’t expected them to be this close. The recent post about the tyrant having a secret crush on the target suddenly crossed his mind. Could that be true?
Glancing at Bei Sangyun’s side profile, he noticed her upturned lips and laughter in her eyes, making her seem livelier than she did at the Lin mansion. In this state, she appeared much more beautiful.
However, Richard didn’t like this feeling.
He glanced at the skinny gloomy man beside Bei Sangyun. So, this was the target—the person she was interested in?
She had poor taste.
"Richard, is Sophia coming to school as well?" Lin Sunji poked his arm softly.
Richard tore his gaze away from Bei Sangyun and Fei Chuan. He offered Lin Sunji a gentle smile. "Yes, but she is still recuperating. I think in a day or two, she will join us."
"I’m thrilled to have you guys here," Lin Sunji said, then sighed pitifully. "It’s really regretful what happened to her. If I’m with you, I won’t let that kind of thing happen."
Richard smiled, "Accidents happen when least expected. It’s not Lin Sangyun’s fault." His voice was intentionally loud enough for Bei Sangyun and Fei Chuan to hear.
Fei Chuan’s ears perked. As he expected, these two knew each other. If Lin Sunji recognized him, he must be someone connected to the Lin family. A guest, perhaps?
His confirmation came when Bei Sangyun spoke, "I can hear your gears turning. Are you wondering if me and that man know each other? He is a guest of the Lin family." Bei Sangyun tilted her head, "You can ask me directly, you know. I’ll answer."
Fei Chuan pushed her forehead away. This girl liked to stick her face close to him. "I’m not asking."
"Okay," Bei Sangyun shrugged.
Richard: "..."
These two acted as if he did not exist. Richard put on his sweetest smile and turned to Bei Sangyun, "Sangyun, I haven’t toured the school yet. Can you show me around?"
"I can’t. I have to practice and work on my school project with my partner. Lin Sunji said she will take responsibility for you. She is a good guide," Bei Sangyun replied without hesitation.
Richard: "...." She’s rejecting me again?
Fei Chuan: "...." When did we agree to practice?
Lin Sunji: "...." When did she become so kind as to throw this opportunity at me?
The three: She was acting very suspicious!
