Chapter 116: She might have a crush on him?
The moment Fei Chuan arrived in the classroom, he took out his phone to check the forum.
He paused at the wallpaper for a moment to appreciate his masterpiece before logging into the school forum.
There, he found the new poll that everyone had been talking about this morning.
A photo of Bei Sangyun walking into the cafeteria along with the post ’tyrant’s new trend’ had become the hottest topic yesterday.
Among the many speculations in the comments, a certain group stands out because of their ridiculous conclusion that it was the tyrant’s ’boyfriend,’ the target, who had played such a prank on her.
An argument had broken out. The majority insisted that there was no way the target was the tyrant’s boyfriend. However, the delusional group argued well and even created a poll out of anger.
Fei Chuan’s eyes widened as he read the poll.
[Vote on whether the tyrant and the target are dating! Enemies to lovers trope!]
"What the heck is this!" Fei Chuan muttered in bafflement.
"I’ve come prepared this time, so..." Bei Sangyun’s voice appeared beside Fei Chuan which startled him so much that he almost dropped his phone.
He quickly turned off his phone.
"Why are you so startled?" Bei Sangyun asked, her eyes looking at him suspiciously.
"...How can I not be on guard around you?" Fei Chuan replied awkwardly, attempting to hide his swirling thoughts. Based on Bei Sangyun’s normal attitude, it seemed she had not yet seen the poll.
Bei Sangyun raised an eyebrow. "I should be the one saying that to you."
She moved her seat a few feet away from Fei Chuan and put on a face mask. "I’ve come prepared today. Don’t bother me."
Then she began her day by sleeping in class.
Fei Chuan swallowed heavily. He needed to find a way to delete this poll before Bei Sangyun saw it. While it was already horrifying to him, if Bei Sangyun discovered it, she might make a bigger deal out of it or, in the worst case, get some crazy idea from it.
Knowing how unpredictable and eccentric she was, she might even start chasing him just to torment him.
But the biggest reason was that he didn’t want everyone gossiping about them in that manner. He and Bei Sangyun weren’t even friends yet, and their relationship was far from normal. If this were added to the mix, things would just get more complicated.
Things were already messy as they were, and he didn’t need any more complications. For him, their status right now was the best for him to start settling some debts from her.
The victory yesterday tasted so sweet that he wanted more.
Fei Chuan fiddled with his phone and contacted some of his online connections. When the poll was finally deleted, he heaved a sigh of relief.
"Snore... snore..."
Fei Chuan heard a light snore and glanced down at its source.
He stared at her for a while, feeling a bit lost. Bei Sangyun hadn’t retaliated or scolded him. She had just narrowed her eyes at him, and that was it. It was rather generous of her.
The words of the students echoed in his head.
’If the target can do that to the tyrant’s face yet the target is still in one piece, not to mention they are still walking together. Doesn’t that mean that they are dating?’
Could it be... she really had a crush on him?
Fei Chuan lightly slapped his face, his ears were a bit red. He had read so much in that poll that he started thinking ridiculous things.
Fei Chuan tore his eyes away from Bei Sangyun. Only then he felt an intense gaze in his direction.
He looked up and saw Bei Sangyun’s lackeys staring at him.
"We will protect the boss today!"
Fei Chuan: "..."
His mind was in a mess. How could he do anything against her?
He glanced at Bei Sangyun again. She was sleeping so peacefully. Was she really that tired?
Fei Chuan shrugged and decided to let her sleep peacefully this time.
....
When the activity for the group project came, Fei Chuan didn’t wake up Bei Sangyun.
They hadn’t passed their project draft the day before, so he intended to handle it on his own.
The teacher had assigned them the task of creating a story and a short script that depicted various emotions, which they would then act out in front of the class on the day of submission.
The other groups who had already submitted their drafts during the previous meeting had started practicing, filling the classroom with chatter and activity. However, this didn’t disturb Bei Sangyun, who was still fast asleep.
Fei Chuan pondered for a moment.
A story...
He wasn’t the creative type who could conjure numerous stories in his head. He preferred logic and rational reasoning and leaned toward reading non-fiction rather than indulging in fantasies.
So, what kind of story should he write...
The pen, swirling around his fingers, came to a halt.
Wasn’t there a perfect story already in his mind? The poignant tale of the grieving man and his conflicting emotions towards the mysterious person at the grave.
Fei Chuan felt it was a brilliant idea, so he began writing the draft.
*****
A gentle nudge on her shoulder roused Bei Sangyun from her slumber, courtesy of one of her loyal followers.
Bei Sangyun surveyed her surroundings and realized that everyone had already departed, including Fei Chuan. It was currently break time.
Checking her reflection, Bei Sangyun confirmed that her face remained clean; her mask had dutifully shielded her face.
She made her way to the cafeteria, where she joined Fei Chuan at his table.
Fei Chuan appeared to be wholly oblivious to her presence, intently focused on his meal.
"Why didn’t you wake me up? We could have gone to the cafeteria together," Bei Sangyun casually remarked, spooning soup into her mouth.
"So others would see us walking together and gossip about us again?" Fei Chuan retorted.
"They should be used to seeing us eat together by now. So what’s the big deal?"
Fei Chuan briefly glanced in her direction before resuming his meal with lowered eyes.
Noticing a container beside Fei Chuan, Bei Sangyun’s eyes lit up. "Oh, Grandma Pei’s cookies. Give me one."
Fei Chuan obligingly opened the container and handed her a cookie.
Bei Sangyun: "...."
While she appreciated Fei Chuan’s newfound generosity in sharing his precious cookies with her, what she truly desired was for him to offer her one with his bare hands. She was after his miraculous ’touch’.
Bei Sangyun sighed, considering her mission a failure yet again.
Fei Chuan picked a cookie and took a bite, leaving half of it between his fingers, seemingly unguarded.
Bei Sangyun’s gaze sharpened. She prepared to take a bite when Fei Chuan abruptly dodged her, causing her to lose balance and almost plunge her face into the soup on the table.
"I knew you were going to do that," Fei Chuan said, smirking. He then put the rest of the cookie in his mouth tauntingly.
Bei Sangyun wiped the splattered soup on her face and shot him a glare. This man had deliberately baited her with the cookies. Truly hateful.
