Standing Next To You -
Chapter 101: A Piece of Advice
Chapter 101: A Piece of Advice
Fei Chuan smiled coldly.
"What about the apology for manipulating people to bully me?" Fei Chuan asked, his tone heavy.
Lin Sunji turned stiff, her eyes widening.
That bitch must have snitched on her already!
Bei Sangyun must have spilled the entire story, possibly even exaggerating it to ensure that Fei Chuan wouldn’t forgive her. That cunning girl was always up to something.
Lin Sunji cursed Bei Sangyun in her heart, but on the outside, she maintained a sweet and understanding smile.
"I’m sure Bei Sangyun is the one who told you all that. You shouldn’t be too quick to believe her. She enjoys manipulating people’s emotions and confusing them. I hope you won’t fall for her lies and see the truth clearly."
"What’s the truth, then?" Fei Chuan asked with a scoff.
"Bei Sangyun wanted to shift all the blame onto me, which is why she misled you with that information. But if you think about it, we hadn’t met before the school year started, and we had no reason to have a grudge against each other. So why would I manipulate people to bully you? I have no motive for doing so."
Fei Chuan chuckled darkly, his laughter filled with ridicule.
"You lie so blatantly to people’s faces. How did you manage to become a model student?" Fei Chuan asked.
Lin Sunji was taken aback. He wasn’t buying her story?
"Do you believe that ruthless tyrant who made your life miserable in this school? Don’t be too naive—"
"Don’t worry, I’m not naive. I don’t trust people easily. However, you’re mistaken about one thing."
Fei Chuan smirked darkly as he continued, "It wasn’t Bei Sangyun who told me about this. In fact, she had every opportunity to do so, but she didn’t. Maybe it’s as you said, no one would believe the words of a ruthless tyrant, so she kept quiet. Or perhaps she just didn’t care." Fei Chuan’s tone turned bitter in his last sentence.
Lin Sunji was stunned. It wasn’t Bei Sangyun? Then who—
"Let me give you a hint. The person is one of your Lin family members."
Lin Sunji stood frozen. Who could it be?
There was only one person who appeared in her mind.
Lin Xiaoni! That foolish girl must have come to sabotage her chances of getting the host role!
"You misunderstand. I would never do that--"
Lin Sunji started to deny it when Fei Chuan stepped forward and squinted his eyes at her.
"I would never forgive you, even if you came to apologize to me and admitted it. But thanks to you for putting on this show, I have even more reason to be ruthless."
"What do you—"
Fei Chuan suddenly held Lin Sunji’s shoulder and made her turn around to face the rooftop’s railing.
"Aren’t you curious why I asked you to come here?"
The wild wind sent Lin Sunji’s hair into disarray, and the sudden gust felt like a sharp blade slashing at her face.
Fei Chuan pushed her toward the railing, making her look down below from the higher ground. The height was enough to frighten anyone.
He whispered in her ear, sounding like a devil, "So that I can push you from up here while you can’t do anything about it."
His dark voice sent chills down her spine.
The harsh wind, the terrifying height, and the person who seemed like the embodiment of a devil filled Lin Sunji with fear.
What if this person actually pushed her?
Although he seemed thin, the weight pressing on her shoulder made her unable to move. With a slight push, she might really fall from this height, and the outcome would be unthinkable once she did.
Lin Sunji shuddered with those thoughts in her head.
"F-fei Chuan...t-this is a c-crime..."
"When you broke into my locker, vandalized my things, threw drinks, and spat on my meals, wasn’t that a crime? When you constantly beat me up and didn’t give me a moment of peace, is that not a crime?"
"I-I am not the one w-who did that!"
"You did. You pushed those people to do those things. Ah, didn’t you also send those people to break my leg? Perhaps you were thinking that once I’m hospitalized, I can file a complaint against Bei Sangyun. With how ’she’ bullied me and caused a severe injury to her own classmates, she would be expelled."
"T-that..." Lin Sunji wanted to deny it, but Fei Chuan seemed to see through her schemes.
This person scared her.
"Ah, the kidnapping in the warehouse. Was that your doing too?" Fei Chuan seemed to uncover more as he delved into the details.
He had found it absurd before and thought it was part of Bei Sangyun’s act.
That person’s action was conflicting in the first place so he stopped predicting her every move. He thought it was just another day when she changed her mind.
In the place he did not know, Bei Sangyun must have looked for him and saved him without him knowing.
Thinking back, she was very adamant about him staying in the hotel. It was likely to protect him while she handled everything behind his back.
Her strange and contradictory actions started to make sense to him, one by one. Her previously muttered words, which he hadn’t taken seriously, now repeated in his mind.
But this realization didn’t ease Fei Chuan’s anger. In fact, it only made him angrier.
He didn’t know what he was so upset about, but he was seething with anger.
The hand pressing on Lin Sunji’s shoulder grew heavier and more painful, causing Lin Sunji to tear up.
"T-this is a crime! I-if you do this...you will go to jail, and the Lin family won’t let you off!"
Fei Chuan’s face darkened, but he still let go of her.
"Don’t worry, I don’t plan to kill my prey instantly, but I’ll make sure you wish I had pushed you off this rooftop."
Lin Sunji immediately stepped away from Fei Chuan, fear and trepidation in her eyes.
This person was as crazy as Bei Sangyun!
"You...! You will regret this! The Lin family is not someone you can easily make an enemy of." Lin Sunji tried to sound confident.
Fei Chuan’s gaze sent a shiver down her spine. She quickly left the rooftop. She was afraid of staying one more second with this crazy person.
Just as she opened the door to the staircase, she saw Bei Sangyun leaning against the wall.
Bei Sangyun smiled at her. "Told ya. It depends on your abilities."
Lin Sunji: "!"
Bei Sangyun approached the rooftop and stopped beside her.
"I’ll give you a piece of advice. You better grovel on his knees while he’s still a budding devil. Once this devil grows up and starts settling scores, you might face a worse ending than you did before."
Lin Sunji glared fiercely at Bei Sangyun.
She had been genuinely scared, mainly because Fei Chuan had caught her off guard. But she didn’t take Bei Sangyun’s words to heart.
That man was nothing compared to the Lin family. She had no reason to be afraid.
Little did she know that many years later, Bei Sangyun’s words would haunt her as she had no choice but to follow her advice.
