Chapter 108: Unknowingly Attracting Attention

Inside the luxurious room from which a minute ago Leon had run, the green-haired young lady, looking at the face of the platinum-blonde-haired woman, asked in confusion.

"Senior, why didn’t you catch the intruder and just let him escape?"

Aurelia looked at the young saintess of the Church of Life, chosen by her friend, and answered her honestly.

"Because whoever the intruder might be, he or she had no ill intention toward us, so I let it go and didn’t chase the intruder. And it’s not our business anyway—it was the king of the lower domain’s business to take care of the palace from intruders."

The young saintess wasn’t buying this response, knowing what kind of woman was sitting in front of her. What she had told was likely the truth, but she was sure she hadn’t told her everything. She would have at least tried to see who the intruder was, just out of curiosity, as his life energy appeared in the room out of nowhere and vanished completely when Senior Aurelia called the intruder off.

Even the gate was closed, and she didn’t believe a treasure of the space element—which was so, so rare—could be in the possession of the intruder, which meant he or she had the affinity for the space element.

It didn’t matter if it was an intruder or not; they had to take him with them and try to let him join their church. Such a talent shouldn’t rot in a lowly domain.

"Senior Aurelia, I would have believed your words if the intruder weren’t so special. So why did you really let the intruder go without even talking to him?"

Aurelia leaned forward, her hand out as she started patting the young green-haired woman’s head.

"Hmm, good job, little saintess, for noticing all this. I was just waiting for you to point this out. If not, I would have just kept this hidden from you."

Senior Aurelia and her tests... she never misses any opportunity to test me...

But the young saintess wasn’t annoyed or anything, as she enjoyed it too and knew it was Senior’s way of making sure she was doing well.

Still, sometimes it did go crazy—as she remembered the incident before reaching the lower domain inside the forbidden mist, her body still shuddered at the thought of it.

Aurelia continued after pulling her hand away from her head.

"It’s not that I didn’t want to stop the intruder and didn’t want to talk to him more about his talent and even offer him to join us, but the problem was... in that awkward scenario, if I did that, it would have likely resulted in a confrontation between me and him." She paused for a second.

The young saintess nodded, as this would have likely been how it played out, but she didn’t see any problem in this. Senior Aurelia could easily handle it.

"But the problem was, the intruder was not weak. He was strong, much, much stronger than you. I can still handle the intruder, but it would have likely resulted in this palace and half the city being destroyed in the process. And more importantly, young saintess, your safety would be in danger too. I’m not stupid enough to provoke someone who has a mysterious space affinity."

"And that’s not all. If he wanted to escape, I’m not really sure if I could stop him, as without actually being in the situation itself, I can’t guess the outcome. And attacking him just to talk to him might be a really foolish thing to do. Instead of gaining a talented individual, we would have made a deadly enemy."

"Do you understand now why I let him go, little saintess?" Aurelia asked.

In response, the saintess only mumbled her words, as she was still dazed by what she had heard from Senior, her mind in turmoil right now.

"Y-Yes..."

And she was not the only one, as Aurelia was also puzzled by this unexpected yet interesting intruder in the lower domain. Her actual motive to come here was always her priority, but she didn’t mind extending her visit to make a connection with that sneaky intruder from before.

If not recruiting him, he would still be a good ally, increasing the power of their church, and she had a feeling they would meet again. And it was not their last meeting.

The lower domain is a lot more interesting than I thought—the prospective candidate for the position of Saintess of Light, and now this mysterious guest with space affinity...

Aurelia was really enjoying this trip now.

Leon, unaware that his little sneak into that room because of his instinct had attracted quite a lot of attention to him from both the Church of Life and the Church of Light, one of the most ancient and powerful organizations on this whole planet, named Velaria.

Twenty minutes of travel and now Leon had arrived in front of the castle of Duke Arselin. He could have arrived here earlier, but he had to slow down when there were people around him, like the city in which the Duke’s castle was located, and the towns he had passed during the trip.

He could have avoided them, but he chose not to, as he wanted to see what the towns in the Kingdom of Shampain looked like. He had to give credit to the kings for how well-maintained the towns were. Roads were plain, there weren’t any potholes, and carriages could travel freely even within the town; houses were well maintained, and guards were present.

But the slums, which were part of the town despite being small, had much better conditions than those inside the capital city. He didn’t know why that was—he could find it everywhere he went. He had to ask Seraphine about this, as even Duskmoor wasn’t free from this, even when Seraphine was the one ruling the city.

There had to be some major problem that was causing this, as he didn’t believe that if she had the solution, Seraphine wouldn’t have already solved it, knowing her personality.

Leon’s eyes locked onto the castle in front of him.

There was a slim chance that he could find the Duke’s eldest son, Jacob Arselin. So, if he met him, there was a high chance he would accidentally kill him.

But he promised himself not to, as that would be too easy for him. Just like he had announced Seraphine as his wife in front of the world without any care for her regard, he was going to humiliate that bastard in front of the world before finishing him off.

And there was no better place than the Academy Festival, where all the highly influential people across the world would attend—and his tragic story would spread far and wide, a message to all others who had bullied his Seraphine.

There were only two people he was going to really kill because of their blatant disrespect: first, the Duke’s eldest son, and second, their own kingdom’s prince. As for the others, he would be fine with just taking all their wealth and receiving a heartfelt apology until he was satisfied.

But for these two, there was no forgiveness, as one wanted Seraphine in his own harem, which all started because of the Duke’s eldest son’s announcement to the world, causing jealousy in their kingdom’s prince. It didn’t matter to him what the cause was.

Even if I see him today, I have to hold it in until the festival.

With this thought in mind, Leon teleported through the outer wall protecting the castle of the Duke of Arselin.
