SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God -
Chapter 252: A mosquito?
Chapter 252: A mosquito?
After letting the old man rest, Damon once again teleported back to the same terrace and sat down cross-legged to examine himself thoroughly. He sat still on the cold terrace stone, the moonlight casting a pale glow over his form as the ocean murmured far below. He closed his eyes and sank inward, drawing his awareness into his body. The difference was immediate.
The first big noticeable change was that the pain that tormented him had significantly reduced. He had no idea what the old man did, but this alone was a great help. At least now he was able to think better.
Perhaps it was because of this, he was now also able to focus and use his mana and blood energy again to activate skills. To understand the changes further, he would have to log back into the game.
His body outside the game was still different from his body inside the game. Damon was not sure if it was a clone or some other sort of concept, but it was something he did not understand. For example, he couldn’t sense his mana core at all from here.
He would have panicked about this more, but this was the same situation before his injury, so he wanted to believe that nothing much had changed. Anyways, it was time to log back in and see how he was doing.
The lack of pain was encouraging by itself, but there was still a weakness, a lingering weight on his shoulders that was bothersome. It was as if he were underwater, and he could lose his ability to breathe at any given moment. He would only be able to completely understand his condition once he was inside the game.
Even if his condition had stabilized a little bit...
Damon was about to teleport when suddenly La Rocha’s voice rang out. "I did not mean you any harm when I gave you the soul cultivation technique. It is a superior technique, and there is a 30% chance that you would have succeeded. Since you are so exceptional, I believe you had a higher chance."
"Sure you didn’t and sure you didn’t see this as an opportunity to get out of your soul contract." Damon rolled his eyes at the item spirit’s half-hearted apology, but he did not care. He was not an idiot to mistake this bastard even for a moment. He knew who to trust and who not to trust.
Right now, he did not have time to entertain this guy, so he ignored him and activated his tattoo to log back into the game. He almost expected an error message, but thankfully, nothing like that popped up. He was able to log in without any issues.
Damon found himself in the same dark cave and a surprised Ghost staring back at him. "Dude, you could have told me and left?"
Damon smiled bitterly. "I got kicked out. I didn’t leave."
Ghost raised a brow but did not ask for any further details. "Okay. Do you need any more help or..."
Damon laughed slightly and patted him. "You have already done more than enough. Go deal with your problems. Give me a few days, and then we can meet again to discuss your condition if you want. I cannot guarantee that I will be able to help, but I can try my best."
Ghost nodded and extended his hand forward. "Take care, brother."
Damon smiled and shook his hand. "You too."
The two did not need any more exchange of words, and Ghost silently disappeared into the darkness of the cave.
Normally, Damon would have checked if the sneaky fellow had actually left the cave or was still hanging around in the darkness to peep on him, but he couldn’t care less about that right now. He still felt extremely weak, and he did not like it. There was something very wrong with his body.
Damon once again sat cross-legged and closed his eyes, sinking his senses inward. His face immediately darkened. His body was a complete mess. All his mana channels were messed up and his core... his core, damn it?
Damon anxiously tried to reach his core when he noticed that he couldn’t sense his damn core at all. Was this because all of his mana channels and his entire body were wrecked?
He pulled up his status screen to take a look.

Damon stared at his status screen in utter disbelief. "You have got to be kidding me. What sort of a dastardly nerf is this? All this because I fought and drank blood from that damned wyrm?"
Damon sat frozen, staring at the numbers like they had personally betrayed him.
Level 65... and stats lower than a level 1 newbie? If it weren’t for the ridiculous list of titles, anyone seeing this would think he was some half-baked joke account. Even his faction alignment, bloodline, and class screamed power, but his health bar looked like it would sneeze and disappear.
"Five... five health? What am I? A mosquito with ego issues?" he muttered, face twitching.
Damon rubbed his face hard, trying to calm his rising panic. Think. The status effect lines were the key.
Soul instability (10 days)
This meant that he had ten days to take care of his soul instability. Otherwise, his soul would probably explode or something, and he would die.
Damon did not care in the least. Fuck 10 days. He was going to fix this damn thing right now! He took out a health potion once again and tried to heal the injuries that plagued every part of his body, but once again, the health potion did not do shit. It might as well have been water.
Yup, he was truly and deeply fucked.
