Chapter 990: Chapter 995 Friction and More Friction
The real masters of combat within the CIA aren’t found at the training camps.
Needless to say, the beginner’s class has many people, all of whom are newcomers, and combat training is a basic subject, so these instructors can be disregarded.
The intermediate class can also be ignored.
That leaves only the instructors of the master class as somewhat of a threat, but if they’re all at the level of Weiss, Yang Yi isn’t too worried.
The only people who might possibly be a challenge for Yang Yi are those who genuinely need to use their combat skills, those truly out on missions, especially the experts of the Action Division. But then, how could such people be at the training camp?
Combat is both a skill and a hobby; any expert in combat will definitely practice every day. So, it’s possible that these field agents might drop by the training camp to get a feel of it after returning to CIA headquarters. There is a possibility, but it’s a very slim chance.
So, Yang Yi wasn’t worried at all about this aspect.
Arriving at the combat training camp, Weiss was already waiting for him—not just Weiss and his friends but, to Yang Yi’s surprise, about thirty people were waiting for him in the largest training room.
When Yang Yi and Reggie walked in, they felt that this scene was really a bit too much.
"This is my friend and also an instructor here, Joe Hudson. He is very eager to have a sparring match with you. After our students heard about it, they all wanted to come and watch as well. Would you be willing?"
Weiss’s attitude was still very friendly, but Yang Yi really didn’t want to make a move in front of so many people, especially when he saw the instructor named Hudson sitting arrogantly on the ground, his heart felt even more displeased.
Feeling displeased meant it was time to take action.
"I don’t mind. Let’s start."
Weiss let out a sigh of relief and said to the arrogant-faced instructor, "You can start now."
Hudson nodded, then shouted to Yang Yi, "Young man, warm up."
Warming up would, of course, be good, but one of the advantages of Yang Yi’s skills was being able to suddenly explode with the strongest combat power in an unprepared state. Moreover, he had just quickly walked over, so whether he warmed up or not didn’t matter much.
"No need to warm up. Let’s begin."
After Yang Yi finished speaking, he took off his leather shoes and walked a few steps forward while still wearing his jacket.
To Yang Yi’s surprise, Hudson didn’t move but simply turned to someone next to him and said, "You go."
Yang Yi was somewhat dumbfounded and a bit annoyed; it was agreed to be a friendly sparring session, but what was Hudson up to, letting his student step up?
Having someone else fight first certainly had its benefits, at least one could observe the opponent. But the issue went beyond that; Hudson’s action was very impolite, treating Yang Yi on the same level as his students.
Weiss also appeared a bit surprised, so he said a few words to Hudson, but Hudson didn’t give Weiss a chance to speak further and waved his hand dismissively, after which his student approached Yang Yi.
In terms of physical size, Yang Yi’s opponent was far bigger than him.
Although the United States vocally opposes racial discrimination, having become politically correct, in the CIA, Black people are still rare, almost a rarity. But Yang Yi’s opponent happened to be Black, and a very strong one at that.
There was no need for words; it was time to fight. Still, Yang Yi remained cautious. He threw a light punch to test the waters, but his opponent completely ignored the punch, lowered his head, and lunged toward Yang Yi.
How naive to think of overpowering Yang Yi with brute strength and physical advantage.
With a quick sidestep and a hook of the foot followed by a push of the hand, the Black man stumbled and fell face-forward to the ground.
"He’s not my match."
Yang Yi looked at Hudson and said a few words, and after a moment’s thought, Hudson said to his group of students, "This is a rare opportunity. Who else wants to give it a try?"
A thirty-something Caucasian stepped forward and said, "I’ll do it."
Quite skilled, not bad, and capable in a fight, but to Yang Yi, just a piece of cake.
Hudson’s face began to look ugly, because he was starting to see the pattern.
Yang Yizhen was really angry, so he didn’t wait for Hudson to call anyone else up, and directly said, "Mr. Hudson, are you ready?"
Before Hudson could respond, another young man in his twenties stepped forward and said in a deep voice, "Hello, I’m not a student of Instructor Hudson, but I would like to spar with you. May I?"
Experts could see the strength reflected in Yang Yi’s nonchalant demeanor, but those less perceptive only thought that Yang Yi won too conveniently.
Yang Yi sighed and said, "Alright, I can fight with you."
"Can weapons be used?"
Yang Yi replied without any hesitation, "Yes."
The young man walked to the side, picked up a short stick, and with a calm face said, "I am using Filipino stick fighting. What will you use?"
What would Yang Yi use? He couldn’t use anything but a short knife, but the problem was all the knives here were rubber training knives, it wouldn’t matter how much you stab with them, but getting hit with a wooden stick is really painful, and it could even result in broken bones or death.
Yang Yi was annoyed inside, his face cooled down for a moment, and he simply said, "Training knife."
The young man picked up a rubber knife and casually threw it at Yang Yi.
That was rude. Yang Yi caught the knife, then nodded and said, "Come on."
With a strange cry, the young man charged at Yang Yi, swinging the short stick.
Yang Yi had to show him some color.
Yang Yi stepped back twice and looked like he was going to take a third step back, but then the young man swung his stick overhead intending to strike.
Yang Yi, who seemed to be retreating, suddenly squatted down. With his left foot as the pivot, his right foot swept out.
The sweep hit the opponent’s ankle, causing the young man to lose his balance and fall sideways. As he was falling, Yang Yi rose up and passed through the young man’s arms, directly choking his neck with his left arm.
Yang Yi yanked the young man into his embrace sharply, and with the training knife in his right hand, he slowly slid it across the young man’s neck. Then, Yang Yi released his left arm, letting the young man flop onto the ground on his back.
It didn’t hurt, but it was very humiliating.
Yang Yi exhaled and said to Hudson, "Do you want to send someone else up, or would you like to come yourself? I am quite busy, thank you."
Hudson couldn’t sit still any longer, he finally stood up, limbered up, and said with a serious face, "Come on."
Finally, taking the field himself, Yang Yi resolved countless times to rub Hudson into the ground, but he would never underestimate his opponent.
Maintaining this distance of about three meters, when Hudson shouted loudly signaling the start of the fight, Yang Yi, who had always been reactive, rushed out instantly, throwing a punch straight to the chest.
He knew this punch wouldn’t land, and Yang Yi had other moves ready, but Hudson’s level was inadequate, he made the worst possible choice - to take the hit directly.
Surprised in his mind, but his hands were quick. Just as Hudson had managed to block Yang Yi’s punch with his forearms, Yang Yi shifted his shoulder and bumped it right into Hudson’s.
Hudson was sent flying, landing heavily on the ground, unable to protect himself, making a loud noise as he hit the ground.
