Chapter 864: Chapter 869: Someone is Coming
Yang Yi returned to the villa he shared with Xiao Ran, and whenever he saw Xiao Ran, he felt as though something was off.
"What are you playing?"
Xiao Ran didn’t answer.
"Anything happened in the last few days?"
Still no answer.
Yang Yi approached Xiao Ran’s computer and saw that her Yasuo had eight kills and seven deaths, and her character was being chased after a team fight, about to die.
Soon, Xiao Ran slammed the desk and exclaimed, frustrated, "It’s driving me crazy! I can’t carry this, really can’t carry this."
"Talking about can’t carry after eight kills and eight deaths... alright, your teammates really are uncarriable."
Yang Yi had wanted to throw in a sarcastic remark or two, but after realizing she could still get an MVP with eight deaths, he was left speechless.
"Are you still stuck in bronze?"
Xiao Ran rolled her eyes and said, "Smurf account! Since I’ve been with you—no, since joining the Organization of Water, when do I have time to play?"
After angrily closing her laptop, Xiao Ran spoke listlessly, "While you were gone, Pierre Bena came by. He said he was in Nice for a couple of days and didn’t pressure us to decide on buying his vineyard, but it was pretty clear that’s what he wanted. Give him a call, will you? We can’t just leave him hanging."
Yang Yi sighed and said, "I’ve been thinking, what if we actually bought his vineyard? I actually think it’s quite nice."
"Whatever you want, it’s not a lot of money. If you want to buy it, just buy it. Why ask me?"
"I am asking to know if you like it—if you do, I’ll really buy it."
Xiao Ran looked at Yang Yi and said, "What does it have to do with me if you buy it?"
Yang Yi, looking helpless, said, "You make it sound so joyless."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I don’t mean anything, just hinting at you."
"What does hinting at me mean?"
"I... it means nothing, it’s like a tongue twister. Let’s not beat around the bush, just tell me if you like it or not, if we should buy it or not."
"Aye, getting anxious, are we?"
Yang Yi was almost in tears, waving his hands, "Forget it, forget it. I can’t win this argument with you. I’ve decided to buy the vineyard. If you like it, it’s yours; if not, whatever. I’ll keep it as a safe house."
Xiao Ran was dismissive, "For me? I don’t want it. If I want something I’ll buy it myself. We’re rich now, aren’t we?"
Yang Yi was left speechless.
Xiao Ran stretched lazily, then said nonchalantly, "I need to play some more matches. Today, I have to get out of this bronze pit no matter what. It’s so frustrating."
Alright then, still just idling here, carrying out what’s called surveillance. The saying of men and women working together makes the job easier—why hasn’t that happened here? It’s really frustrating.
Yang Yi went to change into his clothes and put on his designer watch. It was time to resume the guise of a wealthy man. Then, he headed to the upstairs room and picked up the binoculars for a while.
Deyo’s villa was still empty, and surveillance had already become a habit. After being disrupted by Ian’s matters for a few days, not checking on Yang Yi felt like something was missing.
Staring at an empty yard was indeed boring, especially when the same thing had been done for over a month, it became even more tedious.
Yang Yi switched on his computer and connected to the two cameras that had been installed.
The cameras worked well, the images were clear, and of course, it was correct that they hadn’t captured anyone.
Yet, now, looking at the footage the cameras sent back, Yang Yi felt differently. Who could imagine how much technology was hidden within these tiny cameras? Thinking about how the potentially world-altering technology had spread from his own hands, and how he had handled Ian, the designer, a sense of accomplishment in being part of historical progress emerged within Yang Yi.
However, it was unfortunate that Yang Yi still didn’t know what material Ian had discovered, and unless this material started being used on a large scale, he would never know.
He had not clarified it at the time, so there was no chance to understand it now. The secret was now in Li Fan’s hands, and it wasn’t possible for Yang Yi to easily know since this material must be top secret, truly top secret.
After feeling sentimental for a while, Yang Yi turned off the cameras. As long as no one was at Deyo’s house, the cameras were useless.
Yang Yi went to the next room again. Xiao Ran was still sitting in front of the computer playing games, but apparently, things weren’t going well for her—her teeth-gritted expression looked fierce, and Yang Yi was worried she might smash the computer in anger.
Indeed, with a heavy slap on the mouse, Xiao Ran exclaimed, "Idiot! Dummy!"
Yang Yi approached her and said, "Keep playing, I need to step out for a bit."
Xiao Ran, without lifting her head, responded gruffly, "Go ahead, hurry up."
"Aren’t you going to ask what I’m going to do?"
Xiao Ran looked at Yang Yi impatiently and asked, "What are you going to do?"
Xiao Ran really asked, but Yang Yi didn’t know how to respond.
What did Yang Yi want to do? He wanted to see Woody.
Despite the severe pain from the groin injury not lasting too long, Yang Yi still felt some lingering pain over the last two days. Even though he had checked with Kate, the main functions seemed fine, but they had only tested the beginning.
Thinking about continuing the experiment with Xiao Ran, Yang Yi didn’t have that thought; he dared not, and felt he couldn’t, if he did that, it would be no better than a beast.
So, he better see a doctor. But whether to visit a hospital or see Woody, Yang Yi was somewhat indecisive. Going to the hospital felt embarrassing, and there were taboos about saying how he was injured, while seeing Woody was different—he could at least tell him what kind of physical and psychological trauma he had suffered.
Yet, seeing Woody would be more embarrassing for Yang Yi.
But then, his lifetime happiness seemed more crucial.
Yang Yi scratched his head and then said to Xiao Ran, "I need to talk to Brother Yong about something, do you want to come?"
Xiao Ran, without turning back, said, "No."
"Then I’ll go by myself, I’ll be back before dinner. We’ll go out to eat tonight; think of a nice restaurant. I’m leaving now."
Yang Yi wanted to create a warm family atmosphere, but unfortunately, it didn’t work with Xiao Ran, as she ignored him.
Yang Yi went out alone, but just as he drove past Deyo’s villa on his inevitable route, he noticed a car parked at the entrance of the villa.
Yang Yi didn’t slow down much; he watched from the rearview mirror as three people got out of the car, and then one of them opened the villa’s main gate.
Yang Yi’s heart started pounding, and he very much wanted to turn around and go back, but he couldn’t do that. So, he quickly took out his phone and dialed Xiao Ran, waited for her to answer, and then stuttered, "Quick, look! Someone has arrived!"
