Spy-x-War Showdown -
Chapter 863 - 868: The Only Outcome
Chapter 863: Chapter 868: The Only Outcome
"Technology is the primary productive force," everyone understands this.
A mere Ian had stirred up the entire underground world’s intelligence system. The Organization of Water was working for Li Fan, the Grey-cloaked People had made their move, and the Cicero Family had abandoned the very foundation of their credibility.
Information had been contained within the smallest scope, affecting three major powers. The minor Organization of Water hardly mattered at this point. What if the news leaked out? What if the United Kingdom personally stepped in, or the United States took direct action to fight over Ian?
There was no doubt, Yang Yi had acted swiftly, and it was also a coincidence. Otherwise, had there been even a slight delay, even just a few hours, the outcome could have been drastically different.
Thus, after Ian had safely landed, Li Fan immediately called Yang Yi.
"Li Wei is safe at home!"
Just that one sentence, filled with an unusual excitement for the usually composed Li Fan, even just over the phone, Yang Yi could feel Li Fan’s excitement at the other end.
At last, the dust had settled.
Yang Yi felt as if a heavy stone had been lifted from his heart.
"You played a crucial role this time, I don’t even know how to express my gratitude, but on behalf of our country, I thank you!"
Li Fan’s words were weighted, but Yang Yi felt warmth in his heart, and he replied softly, "It’s what I should do."
"Next, it’s about wrapping things up. I’m worried about your side. As far as I know, the British might have realized something and the Americans have also heard some rumors, but it’s too late for them to do anything now. However, you might be under great pressure."
Indeed, how could the pressure not be immense? That Justin had gone missing, that was the most critical and troubling issue.
Justin knew too much. Importantly, all their fake identities had been purchased through Justin. If Justin couldn’t withstand the pressure and sold them out, Ian would definitely be fine, and Li Fan wouldn’t face much trouble, but the fragile Organization of Water would be doomed.
Yang Yi sighed deeply and said gravely, "Yes, things are more complicated than I thought. But I can take care of myself; you don’t need to worry. Knowing that Li Wei is safe at home is enough. Now I need to handle my own affairs."
"Alright, if you need any help, just let me know."
Li Fan hung up the phone, and Yang Yi got up to find Eric, then without hesitation, he said, "You can go now."
Eric could finally leave, and he wouldn’t be silenced, although he still had his doubts.
"Can I really go now?"
"Do I need to escort you?"
"No, no."
Eric repeatedly waved his hands, hesitating for a moment before he whispered, "I’ve forgotten everything that happened these past few days. I’ve developed a sort of intermittent amnesia."
Yang Yi shook his head, "You don’t need to keep stressing these points. I trust that as long as you’re smart enough, you definitely won’t speak of it."
Eric gave a bitter smile, "So, you certainly won’t remember the role I played in this matter either, right? I mean you won’t go around mentioning me to others... will you?"
Yang Yi waved his hand, "There’s no need to even say that. Like you, I don’t want to die."
Eric sighed, "Alright, then I’ll take my leave, uh, remember, I’ll give you a 30% discount on any business, don’t forget to contact me. Goodbye."
Eric rushed out the door as if fleeing for his life.
Yang Yi and his group could finally return to Nice. Although they had only been away for two days, those days were so thrilling that it felt like a long time had passed.
But whether he could continue working in Nice, Yang Yi wasn’t sure, because Justin had gone missing, and if Justin betrayed the Organization of Water, then the organization would have to drop everything and focus solely on how to survive.
Yang Yi felt that the Cicero Family was truly untouchable; dealing with them brought nothing but trouble.
Changing everyone’s identities was not an easy task. Consider the hotels booked under false identities, the houses rented, the plane tickets and car rentals bought; the implications of these false identities being exposed were not something that could be resolved in a few days.
So, when Yang Yi returned to Nice, the Organization of Water had already moved. They had to change their temporary residence and return the rented vehicles, causing great chaos among the members.
"What the heck is going on with Justin?"
Yang Yi wasn’t the only one worried about Justin. When Brian saw Yang Yi, he chopped his hand down fiercely then said urgently, "You mentioned on the phone that Justin might no longer be with the Cicero Family? Then we have to kill him!"
Yang Yi could only give a wry smile while Annastasia said coldly, "Shut up. How can you casually decide to take out someone like him!"
After speaking, Annastasia looked at Yang Yi, "What’s important now is to figure out what exactly is happening with Justin. His statements were unclear, and right now, we can’t decide whether we should take him out."
Brian urged, "Why keep him? If he’s no longer with the Cicero Family, it means there is internal strife within the family. A spy who failed in such a conflict, and who has lost the support of the Cicero Family, what can he achieve? He’s no use to us now, and he knows too many of our secrets. For our safety, Justin must be taken out!"
It was clear that Brian and Annastasia had debated this topic many times before, and this time, Brian was able to maintain his stance without being cowed by Annastasia’s authority, which was quite commendable.
Annastasia looked at Brian and said calmly, "If you think it’s due to internal strife in the Cicero Family, do you think Justin can survive?"
Brian urgently replied, "I know Justin should be taken out, but the problem is, if we don’t do it ourselves, who can ensure he won’t spill the beans?"
Annastasia rolled her eyes, showing a face of helplessness, "Back to this topic again, fine, you take out Justin, no problem. Eliminate a potential threat, I fully support you, so go on then."
Brian sighed, looking helpless, "I don’t know where Justin is, I’ll have to ask Xiao Dan!"
Yang Yi felt helpless; he shrugged, "No need to ask, I don’t know where Justin is either. He’s wary of us, but... this time Justin really helped us out, so let’s not think about taking him out."
In the underworld, those who know too much and have lost power meet only one fate, death.
Justin knew too much; having failed in the power struggle, the only thing he should be doing now was finding a place to hide. Otherwise, anyone who saw him would think of killing him first, and under such circumstances, Justin still had the conscience to inform Yang Yi that something had happened, which was quite commendable indeed.
