Chapter 851: Chapter 856: More Important Matters

"The hard drive is very important, and it’s in the bag. It’s something I can control immediately," Yang Yi said first about the bag, then about the person, and finally about leaving.

Anton seemed somewhat annoyed as he walked up to Ian, yanked the backpack from his hands, and slung it over his own back.

"What are you doing..."

"I’m keeping it safe for you."

Anton stared intently at Ian and spoke in a low voice, "How many entrances are there?"

"Two..."

"Fuck!"

Anton cursed under his breath. He drew his pistol, stood at the door to glance outside, and then asked Yang Yi, who was still sprawled on the ground, in a low voice, "Can you walk?"

"No!"

Yang Yi clenched his teeth. Now it wasn’t a matter of whether he wanted to walk but whether he could. If he could muster the strength, he would surely crawl away if necessary. But the problem was that, after taking a severe blow to his vitals, he was left weak and with numb legs, making it impossible for him to move at all.

Anton said with a face full of rage, "How could this happen."

Yang Yi pointed at Ian and said, "Take him with you. Buddy, support me as we leave. Do you still want to stay out of this?"

Eric stood up from the couch with a helpless expression. "I knew getting involved in this kind of money would lead to trouble, fuck! I knew there’d be trouble!"

With effort, Eric helped Yang Yi to his feet as Anton whispered, "The entrance I’m watching is clear; no one has come in. Follow me."

The entrance Anton was monitoring remained unused; otherwise, he would have certainly warned them in time. As it was clear, it naturally became their first choice for an escape route.

Ian still looked shocked as he trembled, "How could this happen, who are they?"

Yang Yi said with difficulty, "Definitely not agents from the United Kingdom, nor law enforcement. They didn’t intend to strike directly, so they must want to control Ian."

Yang Yi had to quickly inform Anton of what he had discovered since it could help with their next move. Now that they had clashed with an enemy of unknown identity, no matter who they were, they had to get away first.

They had not brought enough people for the mission; otherwise, they would not be so passive.

As Eric helped Yang Yi out the door, Yang Yi whispered, "Take the stairs."

Anton looked at Yang Yi’s condition and said, "No, the elevator."

Anton pressed the elevator button, and when the doors opened to reveal an empty car, he pushed Ian into it and quickly hit the close button.

In the elevator, Yang Yi asked in a low voice, "Who is this Mr. Wilson they mentioned earlier? Ian, you must know him; otherwise, they wouldn’t have dropped that name."

Ian said tremblingly, "My boss."

Eric let out a low sigh, then with resignation, said, "Yes, Wilson is Ian’s boss. I bought the surveillance cameras from him."

Ian was startled. "What do you mean?"

Yang Yi looked at Eric and asked, "Not from Ian?"

Eric shook his head with a troubled expression. "No, from Wilson."

Ian grew agitated and urgently asked, "What are you talking about? Are they my cameras? Weren’t those cameras already in the testing and approval phase? What cameras did you buy?"

Anton said gravely, "If we want to clear up what happened, we need to find Wilson."

A look of despair crossed Eric’s face as he said, "I’m done for, I’m finished!"

Yang Yi raised his hand and commanded, "Stop! No more talking."

The elevator reached the first floor, and the doors opened.

There was no one outside the elevator, and Anton quickly pulled Ian by the arm, running to the car.

After pushing Ian into the car, Anton surveyed the surroundings. Once Yang Yi and Eric had gotten inside, he was the last to board and start the car.

As the car began to drive, Anton asked urgently, "Can you move now?"

Yang Yi was feeling much better now.

Between taking a bullet and a kick, Yang Yi had chosen the latter. This had resulted in a severe blow to his groin, but truth be told, his forward tumble had absorbed much of the force, and by intentionally twisting his body, the enemy’s kick had neither landed squarely nor with full power. Otherwise, his ’little soldiers’ would have to be renamed ’no soldiers at all.’

But a vital area is a vital area; even a light touch is unbearable.

However, as time passed, Yang Yi indeed began to feel much better.

"Drive first; I need to make a call."

Yang Yi took out his phone and dialed Zhao Qiang with the utmost speed. Once Zhao Qiang’s phone connected, Yang Yi said urgently, "As expected, trouble struck; we encountered an attack. There’s blood and death. We must transfer the person immediately; are you ready?"

Zhao Qiang took a breath, then said quietly, "Damn it! We need a bit more time, which person is asking for Li Wei?"

"I don’t know."

Zhao Qiang said in a tone of resignation, "No matter what, we can’t let Li Wei fall into others’ hands; at all costs, he must not fall into others’ hands. If it really comes to it, we might have to eliminate him, but we must get the hard drive no matter what. I... okay, can’t worry about exposure too much. We might blow our cover but we have to take Li Wei away!"

Yang Yi glanced at his watch and said, "How soon can you make it?"

"Give me one hour!"

"Too slow, in an hour we could be in France."

Handing the person over to Zhao Qiang and then washing his hands of the outcome was certainly an easy choice. But Yang Yi didn’t want to do that; he wanted to take Ian away and also to understand what had happened.

Covering the phone, Yang Yi said to Anton, "I think now Wilson’s place will be very safe."

Anton replied gravely, "Yes."

After a moment of thought, Yang Yi said with a heavy tone, "I need to figure out what exactly happened and determine the seriousness of the situation, so I’m going to find Wilson!"

Anton, a bit irritated, said, "No, I’ll go!"

Yang Yi shook his head and insisted gravely, "The most important thing right now is Ian. You must bring him to France. Someone will take over there, but you must ensure he arrives alive. Also, in the bag you took, there are two hard drives. You know what to do, and I trust you to complete the mission."

Anton turned away fiercely and said, "Fuck! You take Ian, and I’ll find Wilson."

Yang Yi was resolute. "No! Ian is the priority. At all costs, take him away."

Anton snapped, "Even if it means you might die here?"

Yang Yi wiped his nose and said firmly, "Yes, even if I die here, you must get Ian to France. Old Demon, you’re more likely to get him there safely than I am. This mission is the highest priority. You should understand."

Taking a breath, Anton said in a low voice, "Understood, I will get him to France."
