Chapter 795: Chapter 800 Tradition
Yang Yi sprinted along the wall as the car lights shone through the gate, quickly widening. Nearing the gate, he slowed down and looked back at the garage door.
The garage door was still open.
After entering the yard, the car had to turn a corner, and as soon as it did, it would face the garage door. Even if the car wasn’t going to stop inside the garage, the people in the car would definitely notice the still-open door and its warning lights.
"Hurry up! Hurry up! Hurry up!"
Yang Yi sent out a silent scream in his mind.
"Get ready to divert their attention!"
The gate opened faster than the garage door closed, much faster.
Yang Yi had no choice but to issue a reluctant command. If the hostess was going to enter the house before the garage door closed, he would have to divert her attention.
In fact, Yang Yi didn’t want to take any actions to divert attention because the more he did, the greater the risk of exposure. But compared to the serious consequences of being discovered by the woman with the garage door inexplicably open, it was necessary, if required, to have Anton or Paul divert the hostess’s attention.
The gate was fully open, the garage door was less than twenty centimeters from closing, and the light from the car moved, meaning the car was in motion.
The car entered the gate.
Eyeing the position of the car lights, the turning point of the car, and the speed at which the garage door was descending, Yang Yi whispered, "Don’t move, don’t move!"
The car turned the corner, and just as the light was about to hit the garage door, one meter away, the garage door finally touched down completely.
Even if the light shone there, the hostess might not notice the slight gap atop the garage door, but Yang Yi didn’t want to take that chance. As he bent over and quickly moved towards the closing gate, he still turned his head to watch the garage door shut completely.
It was so close, too close for comfort.
Yang Yi breathed a sigh of relief and ran out through the still-opening gate, then immediately slowed down, walking forward at a normal pace and stride.
"That was close, but no harm done. She’s unlikely to have noticed anyone was in the garage."
Especially with the car lights so bright, one’s eyes naturally focus on the lit areas and almost never notice anything in the darkness. Although there are always exceptions, the odds were practically none, making it almost impossible.
Anton and Paul didn’t hurry to join Yang Yi. They each went their own way, heading back towards where they had come from.
Yang Yi said quietly into the walkie-talkie, "Hans, tell Schultz we’re done."
Hans started calling Schultz while Yang Yi got into the car, first taking a long breath before asking the driver, Hans, "How did things go with Schultz?"
After hanging up the phone, Hans smiled, "All went smoothly, perfectly."
After a brief wait, Anton and Paul got into the car one after another. The recently rattled Yang Yi waved his hand, "Let’s head back, no, let’s go eat. That scare made me hungry."
Hans started driving as Anton offhandedly asked, "Did you connect the wire?"
Yang Yi replied annoyed, "Of course I did, do you think I can’t do something so simple?"
"And the electronic detonator’s switch?"
"Of course it’s on."
Anton chuckled, "Alright then, no worries, we can enjoy a lavish dinner."
Yang Yi, in a lazy tone, said, "Next we just wait for Mark Schappo to come back, Anton, can you find a way to get some more intel from your sweetheart?"
Without hesitation, Anton replied, "Sure, the day was hectic, but I have all night to deepen the relationship and pry out more details. The more details we know, the more intel we have. But, for using my allure to fulfill the organization’s mission, shouldn’t there be some form of compensation?"
Yang Yi expressed surprise, "You want benefits now? That’s not your usual style. What compensation do you want?"
"The simplest and most direct, money!"
Yang Yi was even more surprised because Anton had never cared much about money before. Now, why was he starting to ask for it?
"Why do you want a raise?"
Anton shrugged, "Because... tradition!"
"Tradition?"
"Yes, the Black Devil’s tradition. Any sacrifice is acceptable, but using one’s charm for a mission must be compensated. The most common compensation is a holiday. Can you give me a holiday?"
"Er, that..."
"What use are your verbal praises to me? So, it has to be money. I don’t ask for much, just a hundred thousand US Dollars each time. That shouldn’t be too much, right?"
Yang Yi exclaimed, "A hundred thousand? Why don’t you just rob a bank? At most... ten thousand! No more than that!"
Anton didn’t insist much. Smiling, he said, "It’s just a symbolic thing. Ten thousand it is then. Pay now, I want cash. And if you don’t have it, remember to give it to me when we get back, along with what you owe from last time. Now you owe me twenty thousand."
Feeling awkward, Yang Yi frowned, "This feels strange, it’s like, no, it’s exactly like you’re having fun and I have to pay you."
Anton just smiled and earnestly said, "Next time, you can go, and we’ll pay you. No big deal, ten thousand isn’t much."
After speaking, Anton added casually, "You three go eat. I have a date to attend. Let me make a call first."
Anton took out his phone, powered it on, and as it connected, he whispered, "Hello, are you free?"
Soon after, Anton glanced at his watch and said, "Let’s have dinner together then, meet at the restaurant in half an hour. The one near your house, how does that sound? Okay, see you in half an hour."
After hanging up, Anton smiled, "Drop me off somewhere convenient for a taxi, then you guys go eat."
Yang Yi asked casually, "Where are you going, what’s the name of the restaurant?"
Without much thought, Anton gave the name of the restaurant, then was dropped off at the roadside, and Yang Yi and the others left on their own.
After losing sight of Anton, Yang Yi suddenly said, "Guys, do you want to see what Anton’s sweetheart looks like?"
Without hesitation, Paul replied, "Let’s go wait for him at that restaurant!"
Hans chuckled bitterly, "Isn’t that a bit inappropriate?"
Yang Yi sternly said, "I feel Anton is not as reluctant as he claims to be!"
Finally, Hans nodded, "Alright, let’s have a look!"
Yang Yi took out his phone to navigate, then complained, "I still have to pay Anton. I don’t mind the money, but it just feels off."
Just then, Paul said with a smile, "Think about it. Normally, Anton’s behavior is quite normal, but charging a fee is not. What do we usually call a man like that?"
Yang Yi thought for a moment, then had a sudden realization, "A gigolo!"
