Chapter 794 - 799: Scaling the Wall
Chapter 794: Chapter 799: Scaling the Wall
After waiting in the car for half an hour, Paul glanced at his watch. Ten minutes later, he checked his watch for the second time and then again five minutes after that. Finally, he couldn’t restrain himself and blurted out, "Why isn’t it working yet?"
No sooner had Paul’s words faded than Yang Yi’s phone rang. Upon answering the call, he heard Schultz exclaim with great excitement, "Boss, do you know that this security system is extremely advanced? It’s very, very advanced, and there’s even a trap. If someone tries to infiltrate the system, it will automatically sound the alarm."
Yang Yi frowned and asked, "Is it difficult?"
"It is extremely, extremely difficult. It’s the first time I’ve ever encountered such a smart alarm system, the first time!"
Yang Yi let out a breath and pressed, "Can you handle it? How long will it take to get it done?"
"It’s already done. I just wanted you to know that this was really difficult for me and White Roar had a tough time cracking this system. You have no idea how scared I was just now; I nearly got caught. It would have been disastrous if I had been discovered."
Yang Yi let out a big sigh of relief and then said with irritation, "Next time, remember to report the result before the difficulty."
Schultz hurriedly said, "Wait, wait a moment. We haven’t taken control of the alarm system; we’ve just tricked it, do you understand? Don’t break anything, don’t make any especially loud vibrations, this is crucial!"
"What do you mean?"
"Uh, to put it simply, when the homeowner returns, the alarm system won’t send any warning signal to the mainframe. However, if there are loud noises or strong vibrations, the security system will automatically send a signal to the mainframe, namely the Ministry of Defense’s Intelligence Bureau. Then, unless the homeowner deactivates the alarm himself, the Intelligence Bureau’s people will be on their way."
"How can we disable the alarm?"
"You need a password, an electronic code device. Without the electronic device, you would need to manually input a 12-digit password. Uh, cracking the password would take at least half an hour, but since the password is randomly generated by the electronic system, the answer is that cracking the password is impossible. So the best approach is not to trigger the forced alarm."
"Anything else we should be aware of?"
"Nothing for now; we haven’t found anything more."
"Alright, get in touch with Hans."
Yang Yi hung up the phone and then spoke in a low voice to the people in the car, "It’s taken care of. Don’t make any loud noises, don’t cause any strong vibrations. Hans, you stay in the car. Paul, stay at the door and keep watch. Ben, come with me."
With tasks clearly assigned, Yang Yi again pushed open the car door. He put his hand in his pocket and quickly walked with Anton toward Mark Schappo’s front door.
Approaching the gate, Yang Yi swiftly positioned himself in front of the door. Just as he was about to pull out a bundle of wires from his pocket, he suddenly uttered in a low voice, "Fuck!"
"What’s wrong?"
"This lock can’t be picked with wire. Let’s back off first."
Yang Yi and Anton quickly moved aside a few steps, and after creating some distance, Yang Yi said in a low, urgent voice, "I should have thought of this earlier. With security measures so stringent here, there’s no way they’d use ordinary locks."
"What kind of lock is it?"
"It’s a dual electronic and mechanical structure. The electronic part is completely independent. Unless you pull out the wires, you can’t interfere with the door lock, meaning unless Schultz is here and has the special tools, we can’t deal with the electronic lock. For the mechanical lock, I could open it with tools, but I don’t have them. Fuck! These are high-end products, made by manufacturers who produce locks for safes, usually used in safes. I’ve never even heard of them used in door locks."
Anton dismissively replied, "Hank steals from the wealthy, but we’re up against the director of an intelligence bureau. His experience doesn’t apply here. So what do we do now?"
Yang Yi looked at the wall and said, "The only way, the simplest way, is to climb over it."
Anton was a bit surprised and said, "I thought you would suggest some high-tech method, climbing a wall?"
Yang Yi rolled his eyes and said, "One can climb over a wall without an electronic alarm system, so high-tech is the prerequisite. Now, I have to use the traditional skills that have been passed down for thousands of years."
Anton touched his nose and said, "This sort of job might be better left to me."
Yang Yi glanced at the wall and said in a low voice, "The wall is very tall, and you’re heavier than me, so the best candidate is me. Alright, give me a hand."
Anton looked around to make sure no one was there, then quickly ran to the base of the wall. Yang Yi took a few steps back and then took a running start, stepped on Anton’s hands with a foot, and with the force of Anton’s strong push, leaped upward, grabbing the top of the wall. Then, he mustered his strength and hoisted himself over.
Yang Yi didn’t jump down directly; he held onto the top of the wall and tried to get his feet as close to the ground as possible before landing.
He landed silently, definitely without enough vibration to trigger an alarm.
Once on the ground, Anton said in a low voice through the walkie-talkie, "You should pull me over now!"
The wall was at least three and a half meters high. Although it was not impossible for one person to climb, it would leave footprints or traces, making it difficult for Anton to climb the wall alone.
Yang Yi said in a low voice, "I can handle it myself, just wait for me outside."
It was a small task that didn’t require two people. Yang Yi quickly walked toward the garage, now praying that the garage door lock wouldn’t be too complicated.
A common rule is, the tighter the exterior security, the more lax the interior security.
The garage door was very simple, just an electronic remote-controlled door that could be opened or closed by pressing the remote, but this kind of door didn’t have a key slot, not even for a key.
Yang Yi took one look and then smiled as he pulled out a small square with an antenna, pressing a button. A red light on the block began to flash rapidly, and when the flashing red light suddenly turned green, the garage door started to rise slowly.
Too easy, hardly any skill involved, any petty thief on the street could open this kind of lock with an electronic decoder.
Yang Yi walked into the garage, where a black Opel car was parked.
Yang Yi let out a breath, then said softly, "Found it, time to load up."
The car sat very low to the ground, and Yang Yi didn’t want to just place the bomb under it and be done, so he first checked the ground and, upon noticing no significant dust that could leave a trace, he got down to the ground.
Just as he was taking the bomb out, he heard Hans urgently say in a low voice, "A car is driving in, oh no, it’s starting to slow down!"
Yang Yi’s heart raced, and he quickly placed the bomb in a recess, then pulled a wire out of the bomb and stood over the exhaust pipe.
The wire was a sensor; it would explode when the temperature of the exhaust pipe rose, making it one of the simplest detonation methods, even without the need for a remote control.
Just as Yang Yi had attached the wire to the exhaust pipe, he heard Paul urgently saying from outside, "The car has stopped, the lady of the house is back, the main gate is opening, get out! Fast!"
In a frantic scramble, Yang Yi climbed up from the ground and immediately pressed the button to close the door. He dashed out of the garage while the door had descended by a third, and as he watched the door slowly close, hoping it would shut quickly, he made a dash for the half-opened main gate.
