Chapter 780: Chapter 785: Leave It to Someone Else to Do
He didn’t think for too long before Yang Yi slapped his forehead.
"I was careless, so careless!"
Yang Yi lamented his negligence with bitter annoyance. When it came to dealing with Xiao Ran, he had been too careless.
Xiao Ran might have been planted by the janitors, true, but she had shown several times that she stood on Yang Yi’s side. Now, calling Xiao Ran in without telling anyone, that was the reason for her anger.
Yang Yi felt quite aggrieved. He had consulted with Xiao Ran simply because she knew the janitors better—how could he have known that would anger her?
Shaking his head, Yang Yi chuckled bitterly a few times before deciding to invite Anton and Paul over. After some thought, he felt it was also better to call Zhang Yong.
With Brian absent, Paul was the representative of Brian or, rather, the Pandora Squad, Anton because of his strong abilities and his future role as a pillar of the Organization of Water. As for why Zhang Yong must also be involved, it was because his status was clear. Even though Zhang Yong didn’t understand the spy business very well, consulting him on major issues was the bare minimum respect.
The Organization of Water was Yang Yi’s organization, but it wasn’t Yang Yi’s alone; therefore, he naturally had to consider all aspects when handling matters.
The three men quickly arrived at Yang Yi’s bedroom, and after Yang Yi showed them the information he had discussed with Yarebin, Zhang Yong was the first to express his opinion.
Zhang Yong stood up and said indifferently, "You guys decide on this matter. I don’t understand these things, and when I don’t understand, I shouldn’t interfere. So discuss it among yourselves; I won’t meddle here."
Yang Yi was quite helpless and troubled as he said to Zhang Yong, "What’s the rush in leaving? Even if you weren’t familiar with it before, you’ll need to be in the future. Even if you have no comments, you could still stay and listen."
Zhang Yong waved his hands continuously, "No, no, there’s money just handed out, and Sergei and the others, having more cash, would surely like to bet a few hands with me. I need to seize the chance to win some money. You guys chat, I’m off."
Zhang Yong left as soon as he expressed his intention, and Anton calmly said, "He’s going to lose all his money again. We’d better decide quickly so I can win some money from him too."
After saying this, Anton took a breath and spoke, "I don’t think there’s much to discuss. Since your target is the Grey-cloaked People and Aaron could possibly be one of them, and since the janitors are the only ones who can contend with the Grey-cloaked People and have plenty of reason to deal with Aaron, why not inform the janitors about this issue?"
Paul nodded slightly, then said in a grave voice, "Exactly, I think letting the janitors take out Aaron for us is a good choice."
Paul’s opinion was crucial, and Yang Yi said solemnly, "Brian and Annastasia have gone to Germany; do you think I need to discuss this matter with him?"
Paul shook his head and said, "No need. Let him and Annastasia enjoy their honeymoon. We shouldn’t disturb him with something that doesn’t need discussion."
Honeymoon?
Setting aside whether the term was appropriate or not, Yang Yi really wanted to tell Paul he was thinking too much; considering the current relationship between Brian and Annastasia, it was still uncertain whether Brian could even get into Annastasia’s bed.
But the matter was indeed very simple. Calling a few people over was just to air things out.
Yang Yi nodded and said, "Alright, I’ll contact the janitors."
After Anton and Paul said their goodbyes and left, Yang Yi took out his phone and, after pondering for a moment, dialed out.
Elvin was the janitors’ contact for Yang Yi, so when he needed to make a call, it could only be to Elvin. In all their past dealings, Elvin had never let Yang Yi down. This time, Yang Yi hoped the janitors would not disappoint him either.
When calling the liaison of a secret organization, one never had to worry about the phone being left unanswered. If the phone was not picked up, there was only one possibility: the liaison was dead.
"Hello, hi."
Greetings were bound to be bland. Hearing Elvin’s voice, Yang Yi spoke softly, "Hi, there’s something I need to discuss."
"The line is secure,"
Yang Yi exhaled and then he spoke in a low voice, "I’ve received a piece of intelligence that I think you might find interesting."
"Okay, what kind of intelligence?".
"About the CIA and the Grey-cloaked People."
It would be strange if Elvin wasn’t interested. His tone became serious as he said gravely, "Go on."
"Aaron, the deputy director of the CIA, is one of the Grey-cloaked People."
Elvin must have been startled, at least he seemed very shocked. Although his tone sounded the same as usual, Yang Yi could discern that Elvin spoke slightly slower than normal.
Does a subtle difference in the way someone talks matter? To the average person, of course not. But to someone like Yang Yi, who always observes and listens, whose mind is always tense, a change in pace meant many things were different.
"You’re saying Aaron is one of the Grey-cloaked People?"
"Yes."
"Good, that’s a very important piece of intelligence, but is there any evidence?"
Evidence, where would that come from? Yarebin himself said that the information he provided couldn’t be considered evidence. But fortunately, the cleaners aren’t the kind of organization that absolutely needs evidence to act; suspicion alone is often enough for them.
"There’s no direct evidence, but there’s a convincing deduction."
"Whose deduction? Based on what information?"
"A deduction by Black Devil."
"Black Devil? The Soviet Black Devil?"
"Yes, the Soviet Black Devil."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course, I’m sure."
Elvin took a breath, and then he said gravely, "Okay, you may continue."
Yang Yi recounted what Yarebin had told him, then he said softly, "That’s the intelligence I’ve got. Whether you believe it or not, you’ll have to confirm for yourselves."
Elvin was silent for a moment, and then he said gravely, "Okay, this intelligence is indeed important. So how did you come by it?"
"I don’t want to say."
Elvin still respected Yang Yi’s decision, so he immediately said, "Okay, we’ll be in touch."
Elvin couldn’t tell Yang Yi what they would do because even he didn’t know what would be done. Whether the intelligence about Aaron being one of the Grey-cloaked People was accurate would definitely require someone of higher status than him to judge.
What the cleaners would do next, whether they had any specific actions planned, all of that would need time and a decision from the cleaners. Yang Yi might come to know what the cleaners would do, but it’s more likely they would deal with Aaron’s matter on their own. Whatever they decided to do, it was no longer Yang Yi’s concern.
