Spy-x-War Showdown -
Chapter 734 - 740 This Is Unscientific
Chapter 734: Chapter 740 This Is Unscientific
For a wild spy organization, Yang Yi and his team have already done quite, quite well.
Being able to bite into the Black Devil’s tail, to keep on its trail, and even to watch how they move, to take in every action of the Black Devil, was definitely something to boast about, a source of pride.
The Organization of Water had managed to do what the CIA couldn’t — no matter how much coincidence and luck were involved, they indeed found and kept tabs on the Black Devil.
If the Organization of Water had been a spy organization with backing, they would have considered their job perfectly done by now; intelligence gathering was complete, and the rest could be left to an action team.
But the problem was that the Organization of Water needed to not only monitor but also to find, corner, and capture the Black Devil alive.
A universally acknowledged fact, capturing alive was much more difficult than killing; the two were simply not on the same level of difficulty.
So, the stronger he saw his enemies, the more uneasy Yang Yi naturally felt.
Every one of the six people from Black Devil was extraordinary, the likes of which Yang Yi had rarely seen, and he couldn’t think of anyone who could be stronger. Then there was that additional, despair-inducing sniper on their team.
The less he saw, the better. The more he watched that super sniper, the more fearful he became.
He really couldn’t keep watching. If he found out that even at hundreds of meters away, that black headgear could shoot with one bullet per target, how were they supposed to fight?
Brian was determined to take down Black Devil, and Yang Yi was determined to support Brian, but what about the others?
Take the Alpha Trio, for example; they were used as an assault team. If they had to storm that black headgear, what would they think? Being surrounded with no choice but to fight meant certain death, but it’s a completely different matter being sent to attack a super sniper where showing your head meant death.
The saying goes, "Know the enemy and know yourself; in a hundred battles, you will never be in peril." It’s certainly good to understand the enemy’s strength and tactics, but with Black Devil, it was different.
The more they knew, the more their courage to take on the enemy waned.
"Not long ago, in that night battle, so many people were killed from four hundred meters away. If I’m not mistaken, it was this person, right? Not good at long-range shooting? You guys really have the nerve to say that, even if you’re looking for confidence... you can’t say it like that..."
Xiao Ran was out of patience. Her attitude softened more with each encounter, becoming increasingly low-key. Last time she had been adamant about taking out that super sniper, but this time, she was lost for words.
What could Yang Yi say? He was desperate too, but he had to say something to boost everyone’s morale.
"Hmm, even the best snipers have weaknesses. Everyone, I want to emphasize again, we don’t have to outshoot him; remember the mines we are going to use?"
After Yang Yi finished speaking, no one responded, making his attempt at encouragement seem rather ineffective.
"That sniper, he killed so many people last time during the night, and the closest anyone got was four hundred meters. This indicates that his night-vision equipment is superb. We all know that, whether it’s thermal imaging or intensified night vision, the effectiveness at night..."
Xiao Ran started speaking again, and Yang Yi could only wave his hand in front of her with great resignation and said, "Stop! Stop! Don’t keep on about it. We all know that sniper is formidable, we all know he’s like an unmanageable bug, we get it. So the worst-case scenario is we simply can’t appear within his line of sight. Okay, now with that principle in mind, can we discuss something else?"
Xiao Ran sighed and said, "How is that possible? It’s not scientific!"
Brian spoke softly, "Alright, let’s not talk about that sniper anymore. This battle is about to end; they’re about to storm the fourth floor. We need to consider how to deal with the entire Black Devil team."
Sighing, Brian said with a smile, "Actually, it’s quite simple. It’s still the original plan: start laying mines out of the enemy’s line of sight, advance steadily, and never give the enemy a chance to shoot. If we are discovered by the enemy before we complete the encirclement with the mines, then we retreat!"
Yang Yi was stunned for a moment and said, "Retreat? Just like that? Even if they’ve spotted us, we can still try to take them out, right? That guy with the black hood, no matter how tough he is, he’s still human. With so many guns pointing at him, if he takes one hit, he’s done for! And another thing! We’ve got heavy weapons, let’s use them against him!"
Brian pointed at the screen and whispered, "That’s what the others thought, and then they all died."
Yang Yi was speechless. You want to shoot or even use a rocket launcher, you’ve got to aim, right? But this person, who can’t be judged by human standards, probably won’t give you the chance to aim.
It was frustrating. The Organization of Water had clearly accomplished something super badass in the entire Spy Organization, reaching a peak that no one else in the world could touch. But just because of one bug, it made them look utterly incompetent.
Who could you even argue with about this?
A few people gathered around a stairwell, several guns pointed at the stairs within just a few meters’ distance, yet they couldn’t seal off one man who, holding two pistols, charged up.
Damn, you can’t even say ’charged.’ The guy was literally just strolling up casually.
Moreover, those guys were searching through each room methodically, one after the other, in no hurry at all.
Too damn arrogant!
It was downright arrogant!
"It’s impossible, I just can’t do it. Even with strategy on my side, I’ve got no confidence that I could take him out with one shot. There’s a bigger chance that he could get a shot off at me. If only he didn’t have a gun, I could take him down with one hand!"
Zhang Yong clenched his right hand, then said with a helpless look, "I can’t watch this anymore. I’m losing the courage to take a shot at him even from behind."
"He’s reached the fourth floor!"
Xiao Ran added another line.
Zhang Yong urgently said, "Hand grenades! Throw them together, you throw... damn it!"
A hand grenade was thrown, then it exploded, exploding in mid-air, getting shot and exploding in mid-air. Thankfully the camera didn’t break this time, it just got some of the view obscured by smoke and dust.
Xiao Ran took a breath, and Yang Yi said uncertainly, "Did he just shoot a hand grenade out of the air? Right?"
Brian said indifferently, "Trigger the fuse to explode, hold it in your hand for a while then throw it, so it explodes right above the enemy’s head. That tactic is very sound."
Zhang Yong said weakly, "Yes, the strategy is sound, but up against this... whatever it is, it doesn’t work. I guess he blew himself up with his own grenade."
Xiao Ran said softly, "He’s not dead, just injured."
Brian rubbed his face with his hands then took a sharp intake of breath and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, the fight is over. We wait, and if the Black Devil gets back to the starting point, we’ll move out immediately. That’s it."
The firefight was still going on, Black Devil’s people once again fanned out to clear every room, but indeed, the fight was over because there was nothing left to fight for. The outcome was already decided.
It’s like a football match between China and Brazil, with the Chinese team ten goals down and the time reaching the 90th minute. If you put it that way, it’s even easier to understand.
