Chapter 715: Chapter 721 Happened

Yang Yi watched as Corkdor’s car left through the gate.

Now when Corkdor went out, it was no longer a small entourage. There were at least several cars around him and more than a dozen bodyguards.

Yang Yi took a breath and whispered into the intercom, "Calling Holy Water, do you know where the target is heading?"

"Don’t know, but based on the intelligence gathered from surveillance over the past few days, the target is likely going to meet with number one, over."

Yang Yi rubbed his head and murmured, "Things are getting more interesting. Big Ivan has started his counterattack, yet Corkdor is acting like a blind and deaf man — still choosing this time to dine out and meet with Arseny."

Just then, Hans spoke through the intercom, "Deploying the drone, starting image transmission, over."

Schultz quickly switched one of the screen’s signals to the drone, and then images captured by the drone from the sky appeared on the screen.

The drone followed Corkdor’s motorcade, continuously tracking and filming from a bird’s-eye view.

Confirming that the signal from the drone was being received correctly, Schultz shouted, "Drone signal is good, the image is clear."

Just as Yang Yi was about to speak, it was Tang Guo in the United Kingdom who reported the latest incident once more.

"Police Headquarters Operations Room, gunfire has broken out again in Kyiv!"

Schultz switched again to the audio from the Police Headquarters, and then voices could be heard frantically shouting, "So many people are dead, what the hell is going on, what are the intelligence agencies doing!"

Yang Yi sighed softly, then helplessly said, "The third time! It’s the familiar pattern again, strike fast, resolve quickly..."

Brian sat back in his chair, his expression grave as he said, "Whatever happens elsewhere, keep a close watch on Corkdor!"

Schultz asked urgently, "Should we check the surveillance near the scene of the incident? But only the traffic monitoring cameras are available."

Those people, their actions were too quick. They had already launched three attacks in one day, and each attack only lasted a few brief minutes. If the news came quickly enough, one could see the backs of those people, but if the message was received just a bit too late, not even their shadows would be seen.

So there really wasn’t much point in adjusting the surveillance of the firefight scene.

And to date, Yang Yi and the others had no opportunity to strike.

If even the enemy’s location couldn’t be determined, running around fully armed in broad daylight on the streets of Kyiv would just be asking for trouble.

Brian exhaled deeply, then said with a firm voice, "Stay resolved, just follow Corkdor!"

It seemed Brian could keep his cool. Yang Yi had been somewhat impatient, but seeing Brian’s composed demeanor, he took several deep breaths and forced himself to calm down.

A little while later, Hans spoke through the intercom, "We’re about to reach Grushevskogo Street. The situation there is a bit tricky; it’s home to too many government agencies and has strong anti-air defenses. Our drone might be detected by radar, or even get shot down."

Without waiting for Brian to speak, Yang Yi urgently said, "Fly at ultra-low altitude to avoid radar detection. Better to have the drone shot down than to withdraw it!"

Yang Yi had already spoken, and all Brian did was nod to indicate that he agreed with Yang Yi’s decision.

Hrushevsky Street, the most important street in Kiev, houses the Ukrainian Parliament building, the Presidential Office, and numerous military and government agencies. It’s the most heavily guarded street in Ukraine, and any unidentified flying object that appears here would likely be shot down.

The drone quickly dropped in altitude, eventually skimming over rooftops, which is why Corkdor’s car often disappeared from the frame.

The air itself seemed to be congealing.

Until Corkdor’s car stopped at the entrance of the Ukraine Hotel.

Ukraine Hotel, the most expensive restaurant in Kiev, is also the best on Hrushevsky Street. Often frequented by executives, Corkdor’s decision to dine here could mean he had other purposes besides eating, such as meeting someone.

Without needing an order from Yang Yi, Schultz shouted, "Ukraine Hotel, there’re a lot of surveillance cameras here, we’ve made preparations in advance, ready now!"

The street’s road surveillance systems were already compromised, giving Yang Yi and his team the first access to the monitored visuals.

As for the other cameras, those required Schultz or Tang Guo to hack in on the fly. For instance, Ukraine Hotel had its own surveillance, but accessing the restaurant’s feed meant infiltrating its network, which also had to be linked to the cameras. Knowing the location wasn’t enough; the network address was vital, followed by the breach. Therefore, unless the hotel’s camera controls had already been overridden, it’d be impossible to utilize them spontaneously.

But the hotel’s surveillance was no longer needed because Anton and Hans’s team had arrived, and Paul followed soon after.

Paul captured Corkdor getting out of the car using a handheld surveillance device, and after circling in the air, the drone once again caught footage of Corkdor.

Corkdor entered the hotel with his phone in hand.

Schultz said urgently, "There might be cameras inside the restaurant too, I’ll try to take control. Damn! Who knows the official website of the Ukraine Hotel!"

Paul, as well as Anton and Hans, kept a considerable distance, so from the moment Corkdor entered the restaurant, they couldn’t see him anymore.

Corkdor had already stepped inside, his bodyguards gradually following. However, it was unlikely that all of them would enter, considering he was accompanied by more than a dozen guards.

It was then that chaos ensued.

One could see from the footage that Corkdor’s bodyguards suddenly became agitated, almost all of them drawing their weapons, and then, a gunfight erupted.

Xiao Ran couldn’t hold back from yelling, "They’re firing!"

Because of the tension, and the sudden unexpected turn of events, Xiao Ran’s voice was extremely shrill.

Corkdor ducked his head and rushed out of the restaurant.

Without sound, but it was visible that Corkdor’s bodyguards behind him were falling one by one.

The guards were falling too quickly. Yang Yi knew they were wearing bulletproof vests, but they seemed to have no ability to resist, forming a human wall to protect Corkdor, only to collapse at an alarming speed.

Corkdor rushed into his car, while his bodyguards were shooting into the restaurant with Uzi submachine guns.

Suddenly, a person shielded their face with their arm and smashed through the hotel’s glass door; another person immediately followed, rushing out.

This time, Yang Yi could finally see the faces of the two people rushing out.
