Chapter 695: Chapter 701 The Doctor Is Here

The arms deal went very smoothly, and ten million US dollars came easily—sometimes making money is just that simple.

Out of concern for Boyata, Jethro returned to Zaporozhye immediately, because Boyata was still recuperating there.

Boyata’s condition was still very serious, but he was no longer in life-threatening danger. However, he couldn’t speak yet and had to stay in the ICU.

Through the ICU’s small glass window, Jethro saw Boyata on the bed and gave him a thumbs up; although Boyata couldn’t speak, he was awake, so he also gave Jethro a thumbs up in return.

Although it was a brief moment, the weakened Boyata soon had to lower his hand, but Jethro was still very happy.

Jethro’s smile was joyful; it was a smile from the heart.

Yang Yi felt that Jethro was quite humane—he treated his men well, though his judgment of character was somewhat questionable.

After standing up straight from the glass window, Jethro took a deep sigh, then turned to Yang Yi with a smile and said, "Give Boyata a greeting; after that, we can go."

Yang Yi bent down, saw Boyata, and waved his hand, also giving a thumbs up to Boyata.

Standing up, Yang Yi asked Jethro, "Are we leaving him here by himself?"

Jethro, appearing helpless, said, "Yes, we have to leave him here alone, at least for half a month before we can try to send him to another country. He’s too weak now; we need to go back to Kyiv, where there are many things waiting for me."

Just then, Yang Yi’s phone rang. He apologized to Jethro and quickly stepped aside, as making calls was obviously inappropriate in the ICU.

Answering the phone, Yang Yi heard Zhang Yong laugh and say, "Hey, I’m heading back, about to board the plane."

Yang Yi was both surprised and delighted, asking, "Did you find a suitable doctor?"

"Yes, I guess."

"What do you mean, ’I guess’? Tell me about this doctor; where did they work before?"

"Uh, well, it’s a bit complicated. I bought the fastest ticket, so we’re about to board. Let’s not talk about it now; we’ll discuss it when we meet."

Yang Yi, annoyed, said, "You’ve learned to keep people in suspense, huh? Where are you now?"

It had been a long time since Zhang Yong had left, and Yang Yi really didn’t know where he had gone.

"I’m in the United States, Los Angeles. Alright, I won’t talk anymore, hanging up now."

Zhang Yong really hung up the phone. Yang Yi thought about it—there was no need to be so hurried to hang up, even if rushing for a flight. Besides, Zhang Yong sounded like he had something to hide.

Yang Yi was puzzled. Was there something Zhang Yong couldn’t tell him that made him hang up the phone in such a hurry to stop any further questions? Alternatively, the doctor could be the issue, or Zhang Yong himself might have encountered a problem.

Guessing was futile; since Zhang Yong was already on the plane, he should be back soon. It was best to wait and talk when they met.

Yang Yi returned to Jethro’s side, where Jethro asked in a low voice, "What’s wrong, is everything okay?"

Yang Yi shook his head and replied, "It’s fine, I just think we need a doctor, so I had the Gambler find one and bring him over, he’s already on the plane."

Jethro asked in surprise, "You found a doctor?"

"Yes, Trident definitely needs a doctor."

Jethro started to smile, then he whispered, "Your Trident is growing in strength quite quickly, it’s been a while since I last saw you and you’ve already added several people, now even bringing in new hands. Good, a doctor is indeed very important, particularly for a Mercenary Group. They can save lives."

Yang Yi was very curious; he really wanted to know what kind of doctor Zhang Yong had found, so he asked Jethro, "When do we leave?"

Jethro looked apologetic as he said, "Uh, sorry, I’m afraid you’ll have to be delayed a little bit. I’m planning to find a couple of caretakers for Boyata while he’s incapacitated, so someone can look after him, and I also need to talk in detail with the doctor. However, these things shouldn’t take too long."

"Okay, then let’s make sure to find the right people to care for Boyata first; we don’t have to rush back too urgently."

The flight from Los Angeles to Kyiv took quite a while, and with Zhang Yong having to change planes, a day’s delay wasn’t a big issue.

From some of the details, it was possible to see that Jethro really cared for his men. Although Boyata was his assistant and had been with him for several years, which naturally made their relationship different from the others, it was still very rare for Jethro to have come this far.

Another person might not have done the same, not to mention an arms dealer; even a regular employer who wouldn’t face as many dangers often wouldn’t go to the lengths that Jethro did, dismissing and discarding people after use was far more common.

It took Jethro a whole day to find the right caretakers for Boyata, as it wasn’t easy to find ones that met his satisfaction.

Finally, by the time they set off from Zaporozhye and arrived in Kyiv, Zhang Yong had already disembarked from the plane.

After arriving in Kyiv, Yang Yi made a call on the road, but unexpectedly found out that Zhang Yong had already deplaned with his companion and was on their way to the lodging. They had just entered when Yang Yi and his group were entering, Zhang Yong having arrived not even two minutes before.

Brian was sitting on a sofa with a man sitting on another sofa opposite him, while Zhang Yong was taking big gulps of water from a cup.

When Zhang Yong saw Yang Yi and his group entering with large and small bags, he put down his cup, wiped his mouth, and shouted, "You’re back? Is Boyata alright?"

Jethro had come in together with Yang Yi, so Zhang Yong first inquired about Boyata’s condition.

"He’s doing well, thank you. Is this the doctor you found?"

As Yang Yi and the others entered, the man sitting opposite Brian stood up. Zhang Yong pointed to him and said loudly, "That’s right, let me introduce, Woody Elber, Woody, this is our boss."

Woody appeared to be in his thirties, quite robust, with a height of around six feet one. He was wearing a somewhat tattered T-shirt, with jeans below and leather shoes on his feet.

For some reason, Woody looked very dejected, with no expression on his face and lifeless eyes, not the kind of dejection from having just finished a long flight, but that of someone who had suffered a significant blow, devoid of vigor.

"Hello, boss, I’m pleased to meet you."

Woody nodded to Yang Yi and politely greeted him, showing little nervousness but instead a casual demeanor, like a middle-aged man with no energy who, upon meeting his new employer, tried to muster an appearance of liveliness but genuinely couldn’t find the spirit to do so.
