Chapter 694: Chapter 700: Fooling Oneself

Yang Yi sat in the car, waiting for Pyatov to call him while he was in the port area.

Jethro, accompanied by the Alpha trio, waited outside the port area to inspect the cargo.

As for Kate and Xiao Ran, the two of them were waiting outside too, but not with Jethro, ready to support Yang Yi if anything happened.

Although he felt that this transaction wouldn’t have any problems, when it came down to the wire, Yang Yi still felt somewhat nervous.

It had already turned dark when Yang Yi saw a convoy of box trucks driving up the road, one after another without end in sight.

Just then, Chris’s phone rang.

"This is Jefferson."

"It’s me, the fleet has arrived, we are about to start loading up. The cannons should all be loaded in two hours, and the shells should also be loaded in another two hours. Our guys are quick. Is the money ready?"

Chris laughed, "Of course, it’s ready, my brother. Once you start loading up, I’ll start transferring the money. It should reach your account within an hour. Once the loading is done, you can check the account. No problems? Then you can set off. How does that sound?"

"Very well, very well. Start transferring the money now. I’m all set over here, the trucks have arrived, we’re starting to load up."

Chris looked at Yang Yi, knowing that decisions involving risks like this still had to be made by Yang Yi.

Yang Yi didn’t hesitate much and nodded, so Chris immediately said, "The money will be transferred right away, check your account in an hour."

Chris hung up the call, then turned to Yang Yi and whispered, "There shouldn’t be any problem. If Pyatov were planning to trick us, he wouldn’t have brought so many trucks, right?"

Yang Yi picked up the walkie-talkie, whispering, "Anton, what’s the situation?"

Anton wasn’t in the car; he was keeping an eye on Pyatov.

"A truck stopped at the warehouse gateway, something is being pushed out—yes, it’s the cannons. They’ve started loading the trucks, the workers are skilled and moving fast, not amateurs."

"Alright, received. Keep watching."

Yang Yi then switched to a different walkie-talkie, murmuring, "Boss, the truck convoy has arrived, and they’re loading up. It looks problem-free. The money can be transferred now."

After notifying Jethro, Yang Yi put down the walkie-talkie, saying, "Now we wait. The loading will take a while."

About half an hour later, Pyatov made a call. He sounded excited as he spoke to Chris, "The money has arrived. You’re a man of your word, thank you."

Chris laughed, "Of course, I always keep my word, my brother."

After hanging up the phone, Chris spread his hands towards Yang Yi and said, "Doesn’t this guy ever consider what his brother-in-law would do to him? Secretly selling such a big shipment. Well, I’m starting to feel sorry for the idiot."

Yang Yi didn’t utter a word. He was still a bit tense and not in the mood for jokes.

Taking a little longer than expected, at two hours and twenty minutes, the first truck began to exit the port, followed by thirty-six trucks leaving the port’s warehouse area one by one.

"The trucks are on their way out, get ready to receive the goods."

After informing Jethro, Yang Yi took a deep breath and smiled, "This could be the easiest money we’ve ever made."

Chris snickered, then whispered, "After this deal, are we off the hook for a while?"

"That’s likely, why?"

"I feel like having a good time. Don’t you guys want to enjoy yourselves?"

Yang Yi gave Chris an annoyed look, then Chris started to snigger again, saying, "I forgot, you have two people watching over you, within sight but out of reach. How does that feel?"

Yang Yi said irritably, "We’re working right now, why are you bringing this up? If I had the time, of course, I’d seek out a doctor ASAP. Besides, you think everyone is as shameless as you?"

Rodriguez, however, said to Chris, "We should be heading back to Kyiv. Do you know any fun places there?"

Yang Yi sighed. What he truly couldn’t stop thinking about was finding a doctor as soon as possible, but acting as Jethro’s bodyguard was somewhat inconvenient. A big battle was brewing, and he really wanted to find a doctor.

While Yang Yi was engrossed in thought, Jethro whispered over the walkie-talkie, "We’ve checked everything, not a single one of the thirty-six cannons is missing, and they’re all very new. The second payment has been transferred too, just tell Pyatov to check later."

Yang Yi smiled and said, "Congratulations."

After the conversation ended, Yang Yi turned to the two people in the car and smiled, "It’s confirmed, we’ll definitely get the four million. After we pick up the shells, we’ll go trade with the 72nd Mechanical Brigade. Chris, your acting skills will be needed next."

Chris unconsciously touched the earring glued to his ear and said listlessly, "Stop mentioning acting skills. I’m too embarrassed to say I’m good at it after what Anton said."

Loading eight thousand shells would take a while. Although there were four forklifts working in tandem, it still took two hours to load all eight thousand shells.

Four more trucks rolled out, and then Pyatov called, but this time his voice didn’t sound excited anymore; it had a tinge of nervousness.

"The money is received, and the goods are all dispatched. Our deal is complete."

Chris laughed, "That’s great. I’ll be leaving with the cargo. We’ll meet again when I get back."

"Maybe we shouldn’t meet. I have to think about how I’ll explain this to my brother-in-law. After he discovers the cannons are missing, well, I’ve got to hang up."

Pyatov’s voice sounded very nervous. He was excited when receiving the money, but now that the excitement had worn off with the cannons gone, fear took hold.

Too bad it’s too late for regrets and too late to be afraid.

Having achieved his goal, Yang Yi couldn’t be bothered with Pyatov anymore. He simply said over the walkie-talkie, "We’re done here, let’s go."

After a short wait, Anton got back on the car.

As they were leaving the port area, Yang Yi took a long breath, "Now it’s completely secure. If there were a conspiracy by Kanchelskis, it wouldn’t have waited until now to act. Next up is the trade with the 72nd Brigade. Jethro suggests we get involved again, which I think is a bit risky. Everyone, be careful."

Suddenly, Chris asked, "Pyatov, what do you guys think will happen to him?"

Rodriguez responded without hesitation, "He’s done for, no matter who he works for. Daring to secretly sell his boss’s stock, it’d be strange if he weren’t dead."

Yang Yi said, "Logically speaking, that’s the case, he’s done for."

Chris exhaled, "But maybe he really saved Kanchelskis’s life. So maybe he won’t die, right?"

Anton patted Chris’s shoulder, saying, "Don’t deceive yourself. He’s a goner."
