Chapter 658 - 664: Sparring
Chapter 658: Chapter 664: Sparring
Yang Yi and Anton didn’t even have the strength to grunt, so how could they answer any questions?
Seeing the two in such pain that they were gasping for breath and only rolling their eyes, Jethro made a decisive move and urgently said, "Get them in the car, and let’s leave this place first."
"Don’t, don’t touch me..."
The faint voice that Yang Yi let out was ignored, or even if someone heard it, they didn’t care, because staying there was too conspicuous and too dangerous.
Yang Yi and Anton were stuffed into the car, and then they curled up in the back seat, daring not to move at all.
Every slight bump of the car made Yang Yi wish he could just die on the spot.
After driving far away, Jethro turned around from the passenger seat and looked back at the two, who were neither sitting nor lying down comfortably, and said urgently, "What the hell happened? What’s going on?"
It still hurt, and even more than before, but it was no longer the kind of pain that made breathing impossible.
Actually, pain and suffering can sometimes be two different things.
At least Yang Yi felt that despite the excruciating pain in his belly, he could finally speak.
"An accident, the two of us... just wanted to spar a bit, and then..."
The speaker was Anton, not Yang Yi, but seeing Anton break into a sweat on his forehead after speaking only a few words, Yang Yi could only add one more sentence.
"That’s what happened..."
Jethro was shocked, then he raised his voice and said, "You two ’sparred’ a bit? I... I... at a time like this... you guys... really hit hard."
Speaking made his stomach hurt unbearably, and he also felt nauseous, so Yang Yi, rolling his eyes, didn’t want to say another word.
Fortunately, they had explained why, although Yang Yi felt that Anton’s excuse was really lame, he truly didn’t want to and didn’t have the energy, let alone the courage to make up a better one.
What should he say? That Anton had been pushed to the edge of mental breakdown when his deepest pain was exposed?
Or was it that Anton suddenly realized someone had seen through the deepest secret he hid and wanted to silence them?
Or maybe, Anton himself didn’t understand what was happening, felt panicked after hearing Yang Yi speak, and then somehow ended up throwing punches?
Saying they were just sparring still sounded better.
However, Yang Yi knew that Anton probably no longer wanted to kill him at this point, so he hesitated whether he should quickly speak up and have someone kill Anton, to prevent him from trying to kill him once he recovered his strength.
But Yang Yi quickly discarded the thought, because he knew that unless Anton drew a gun, he wouldn’t be able to lift a finger against him for a while.
It was fortunate that neither of them had managed to put their full strength into it, otherwise, there might have been a fatality. It was very possible that Yang Yi and Anton would have ended up taking each other’s lives.
Yang Yi mainly couldn’t bring himself to do it; he still wanted to understand the situation. Otherwise, whether it was Chris or Rodriguez, or Jethro, as long as Yang Yi said the word, they would not hesitate to take Anton down immediately.
But Yang Yi genuinely couldn’t bring himself to do it, even though he felt he should have taken the initiative to impose a ’humane destruction’ on Anton, who was an excessively destructive human weapon.
Finally, after gathering his breath, Anton said to Yang Yi slowly, "Making me suffer this badly, you’re the first. I underestimated your combat skills..."
Listening to Anton say this, Yang Yi felt that Anton must have regained his sanity, so he said irritably, "Save your energy, wait for the hospital..."
Yang Yi didn’t want to talk anymore, because speaking made his entire belly ache.
Jethro finally threw up his hands and glared at Yang Yi, saying angrily, "We were about to take action, and you two chose this time to ’spar’? Huh? To ’spar’ and end up like this?"
Anton grimaced and said, "Accident..."
Yang Yi didn’t explain to Jethro. He just weakly said to Anton, "Are you insane?"
Anton rolled his eyes, not out of the desire to do so, but out of pain.
After gathering some strength again, Anton finally said weakly, "Accident..."
Jethro sighed angrily again and then exclaimed, "First we’ll send you to the hospital, damn it, today’s plan is completely messed up because of you two!"
Tasting the flavor in his mouth, Yang Yi knew he had internal injuries.
Yang Yi didn’t want to go to the hospital, but he was afraid that his intestines might be ruptured. To avoid contaminating the abdominal cavity with feces or urine and then dying from it, he figured it was better to go to the hospital.
Dying from a ruptured organ leaking feces was a bit too undignified.
Anton didn’t say a word either, because he had the same concerns as Yang Yi.
Before long, Yang Yi and Anton were brought to a hospital, and under the guise of being hit by a car, they were admitted to the emergency room. Though there were no visible signs of a car accident, Jethro found it difficult to come up with any other excuse for their injuries and pain.
They needed to check whether the internal organs or intestines were ruptured or if there was any internal bleeding. These were basic examination procedures.
However, the Ukrainian doctors seemed somewhat skeptical of Yang Yi and Anton’s injuries because aside from a bit of dirt on their bodies, they really didn’t show any signs of injury.
But at the insistence of Jethro and Chris, Yang Yi and Anton still had a CT scan, which confirmed neither of them had ruptured organs or intestines, nor did they have perforations. As for internal bleeding, it needed observation, but the doctor’s judgment was that there probably wasn’t any, at most it was just soft tissue injury.
An hour later, Yang Yi and Anton had enough strength to speak while lying on the examination beds.
Kept in the observation room, Yang Yi felt it was time to talk to Anton. So, he said weakly to Rodriguez, "You all go out, let me stay alone with Anton for a while."
After everyone had left, Yang Yi looked at Anton, who had an aggrieved expression, and said weakly, "Have you gone mad?"
Anton waited a while before replying in a low voice, "No."
"So you wanted to kill me?"
"Mmh, not really."
"Then what the hell do you want? I just wanted to... to..."
"You wanted to do what?"
"Comfort you, okay?"
Anton exhaled softly and said, "Why would you want to comfort me? Do I look like someone who needs comforting? And where do I need your comfort?"
Yang Yi sighed and said, "I just suddenly realized that, you... um... how do I put it, Soviet Union."
Anton fell silent, then spoke in a low voice, "Actually, I’ve never really understood."
"Understood what?"
"Understood what I really want because I’ve always avoided thinking about things I shouldn’t think about..."
After speaking, Anton looked at Yang Yi with a weird expression and said, "You shouldn’t have said that sentence because you reminded me, you reminded me that I should despair. In that instant, the scars I’d always avoided were discovered by you and then you stabbed them again, so, I should blame you. You really shouldn’t have said that sentence."
"So it’s still my fault?"
Anton helplessly looked away and muttered, "You shouldn’t have made me despair. Making me despair is like taking away all the reasons I have for living. Saying that sentence is like telling me to die. Since you wanted me dead, it’s quite normal for me to react strongly, right?"
Filled with resentment, Yang Yi now truly felt guilty because he realized Anton was right.
When Yang Yi brutally exposed the wounds Anton had desperately hidden and avoided, never daring to think about or face, it was unreasonable to blame Anton for his instant fear and panic. When Yang Yi subconsciously wanted to comfort Anton, he was actually pouring salt and hot pepper on wounds that had never healed but were hidden.
It was just that one sentence, but Yang Yi knew the meaning behind it. Unfortunately, Anton knew it too.
So, it was indeed no wonder that Anton went mad. At that moment, he must have been very panicked and scared, and since he was quite good at fighting, it’s no wonder he resorted to the most familiar and proficient way to overcome his fear.
"I’m sorry..."
Having come to an understanding, Yang Yi finally apologized, and it was a sincere apology.
Anton pursed his lips, then said softly, "It’s alright, just don’t do it again... ever... otherwise, I might kill you."
After saying this, Anton felt his words might have been a bit too harsh, so he quickly added, "Don’t apologize. Let’s pretend today never happened, okay? Besides, you did surprise me. I always thought you were just a pretty face with a good memory, um, though you are a pretty face, you really can throw a punch."
