Chapter 655: Chapter 661 Getting One Done

After sitting in the cafe for another twenty minutes, the person who had met with Jethro earlier hurried back, then he directly showed his mobile phone to Jethro.

After Jethro had looked at the phone, he took a picture with his own mobile, then handed the phone back to the person he had met with. Following that, the man left immediately.

Jethro beckoned to Yang Yi, and once Yang Yi sat down in front of him again, Jethro handed over his mobile phone and said, "This is the only photo we could get on such short notice. Take a look and see if it’s suitable."

Yang Yi looked at the phone which displayed a photo that seemed to be an ID picture, a middle-aged military officer wearing a large cap and military uniform. The photo was quite clear, and there was no difficulty in making out the details.

After a brief look, Yang Yi nodded and said in a low voice, "Did you arrange a meeting with him?"

"Yes, this man is Zalzayev, a colonel. His rank isn’t very high but he’s in a very key position. It would be best to win him over; otherwise, he must be eliminated. I arranged a meeting with him but he refused to see me. This means he has no wish to talk at all. Since that’s the case, there’s no point in talking anymore," Jethro said.

In a low voice, Yang Yi said, "What I mean is, since you’ve already arranged a meeting with him, he’ll definitely be on guard. If he contacts Big Ivan and gets protection, it’ll be tough to make a move on him."

"Of course I understand that," Jethro whispered back. "It would be even better if Big Ivan sent someone to protect him. You guys should first look for an opportunity to try. If you find his protection is especially tight, there’s no need to rush. Tell me, and someone else will deal with him. However, whatever the reason, as long as he doesn’t have too many guards around him, just get rid of him."

"Do you know which office is his?"

"I do, but we can’t go to his office. We can’t act recklessly, we must consider everyone’s feelings, heh heh."

To Yang Yi’s disbelief, Jethro actually laughed. Yang Yi could only shrug his shoulders in frustration. They were about to directly eliminate a senior military officer, and yet this wasn’t considered reckless?

Yang Yi took Jethro’s mobile phone over to Anton and whispered after handing the phone over, "This man is currently in the Ministry of Defense building. Try to keep an eye on him. We know where his office is, but we can’t strike here."

After looking at the phone briefly, Anton nodded and said, "Got it. Can I make a move on the way off work?"

"You can, but Jethro has other meetings to attend. I have to go with him to another location now. You stay here and try to find the target. If possible, keep an eye on him. We’ll be back before he finishes work," Yang Yi said.

Anton smiled and said, "A colonel is so lightly regarded? To the point where we’re splitting up for the job?"

With a sense of helplessness, Yang Yi replied, "There’s no choice. We’re pressed for time."

"Alright, I’ll keep an eye on him," Anton said. "If he comes out early, can I take care of him myself? That would save us more time."

"Of course you can, just be careful and watch your own safety. The target will definitely be cautious. I’m worried that Big Ivan will send someone to protect him."

"I understand," Anton responded.

After speaking with Anton for a few moments, Yang Yi stood up and said to Jethro, "Everything is arranged. Let’s go. We just need to be back before the target leaves work."

Jethro retrieved his phone, paid for the coffee, then whispered to Yang Yi, "Now we’re going to the Department of Commerce."

The journey to the Department of Commerce didn’t take long, and upon arriving near the Department’s building, Jethro began making calls. After waiting for about an hour, Jethro called Yang Yi into his car.

"I have to go inside to meet someone. You wait for me outside. If I haven’t come out in an hour or called you, then something’s happened to me," he said.

Hearing Jethro’s arrangement, Yang Yi frowned and said, "You’re going in alone?"

"Just me," Jethro confirmed.

"That won’t do. What if Big Ivan’s men are in there too? No, even if they’re nearby, you’re done for. We won’t have time to protect you."

Jethro let out a breath, then said in a low voice, "The person I’m meeting insisted that I come alone to see him. I’m guessing it should be fine. He doesn’t have the guts. He’s just a fence-sitter. Even if he doesn’t want to betray Big Ivan, he also doesn’t want to offend us, so the chance he lured me in to kill me is slim. It’s still safe."

Yang Yi wanted to argue further, but Jethro waved his hand and said, "It’s fine. There’s always a risk. Wait here for me, be careful. If Big Ivan’s people are nearby, it could be dangerous for you too."

Boya softly said, "Should I go with you?"

Jethro shook his head and said, "I already told you, I have to go alone. Now, wait here for me. I’m going."

Jethro got out of the car alone, straightened his clothes, and then walked toward the Department of Commerce building.

Yang Yi picked up the walkie-talkie and said in a low voice, "The boss is in, everyone stay sharp, keep an eye on your surroundings, and speak up immediately if anything seems off."

After putting down the walkie-talkie, Yang Yi said to Boya, "Worrying is useless now. We just have to wait patiently."

Looking tense, Boya said, "If Jethro doesn’t come out in an hour and hasn’t contacted us, what do we do?"

Yang Yi spread his hands and said, "There’s nothing we can do. A lot can happen in an hour. If that’s the case, we’ll just have to withdraw quickly."

Boya’s expression was grim. He opened his mouth to say something, hesitated for a long time, but in the end, said nothing. Yang Yi was right, too much could take place in an hour. If this was indeed a trap, even if they threw caution to the wind and charged in, it would be futile; they wouldn’t even be able to recover the body.

Jethro didn’t make Yang Yi and the others wait too long. Less than ten minutes after going inside, he called Boya.

After hanging up, Boya looked visibly relieved as he said to Yang Yi, "He’s fine. He said we just need to wait patiently. No worries."

This time Yang Yi hadn’t placed a bug on Jethro because Jethro was going to a completely uncontrollable place. He worried that Jethro might be frisked, and if the bug was found, there would be big trouble.

Without a bug, they had no way of knowing what Jethro was saying, and so the wait felt particularly excruciating.

An hour and a half later, Jethro emerged from the Department of Commerce building looking relaxed. Yang Yi, who had been keeping watch at the exit, let out a long breath of relief, then immediately said over the walkie-talkie, "Roman, Sergei, go and escort the boss to the car."

Roman and Sergei got out of the car, escorted Jethro in the middle and brought him to the car. Once Jethro was in the car, he immediately said, "All went well. We’ve secured at least one now. Now we can go deal with Zalzayev. No, let’s go to lunch first. I’m feeling starving."
