Chapter 645: Chapter 651: Will Adapt Soon
Jethro walked in, and upon seeing the light on, he knew Yang Yi and his team had succeeded.
Entering the bedroom with a smile on his face, Jethro spread his hands and said to the man sitting on the bed, "Hello, Major Gerebov."
Gerebov seemed extremely calm, even his wife, a middle-aged woman who looked to be in her fifties, was very composed. She just sat on the bed silently weeping, without screaming or thrashing about.
Defying Yang Yi’s warning, Gerebov reached out to pat his wife’s shoulder, then he turned around, placing his legs on the ground and looked coldly at Yang Yi before slowly standing up.
Dressed only in his pajamas, Gerebov took a deep breath, then turned to his wife and said, "Honey, I love you, I am sorry."
Gerebov’s wife started to sob.
With a gentle sigh, Gerebov turned to face Jethro, standing with his legs slightly apart and hands folded over his lower abdomen, and said calmly, "I knew this day would come sooner or later, no need for useless talk, just shoot."
Jethro scratched his face, then spread his hands, speaking with a sense of regret, "There’s really no need for it to be so tense, you have the chance to live, what do you say, won’t you reconsider?"
Gerebov replied indifferently, "Since you’ve managed to find my house and call out my name, you must have investigated me. What’s the point of saying all this?"
Jethro smiled and said, "One always has to try."
Jethro looked around and then pointed at the room’s decor, saying, "You couldn’t afford this house or these furnishings on your salary; you’ve made big money and enjoyed life, but you could live even better in the future. How much is Big Ivan paying you? I can double it."
Gerebov breathed out lightly and said, "I’ve received a total of two million US dollars from Big Ivan, he pays me every time he transports a batch of arms through me, but you know this isn’t about the money."
Jethro pointed at the woman sitting on the bed and said, "What about her? Can’t she change your mind?"
Gerebov replied with a calm expression, "I am not innocent, I took money that I shouldn’t have, and to get that money, I did things I shouldn’t have. She’s not innocent either, she enjoyed all of it. I knew that my day would come eventually, and I knew she wouldn’t be spared either. Of course, if you’d be willing to let her go, I would be eternally grateful."
After speaking, Gerebov suddenly shook his head and sighed, "Knowing it’s impossible, why even say this? If you want to get any information from me, you’ll be disappointed because I don’t know anything. So if you don’t want to waste your time, just shoot."
Jethro frowned and said, "Out of curiosity, what made you choose this? If it’s not the money, is it loyalty, or some other reason?"
Gerebov shook his head and said, "It’s not for money, nor is it for any kind of loyalty; I just didn’t have a choice. No, the best choice for me is to get killed by you."
Jethro sighed and said, "Then there really is no room for discussion, alright."
Jethro gestured to Yang Yi with a turn of his hand, signaling that he could shoot.
Yang Yi didn’t shoot, instead, he said to Chris, "Shoot."
Chris hesitated for a moment, then Yang Yi tilted his head toward Gerebov.
After exhaling, Chris raised the handgun, and the first shot hit Gerebov in the chest, the second shot hit his lung.
Gerebov fell to the ground powerless, and his wife finally let go of her mouth and cried out.
Chris aimed the gun at the woman, clenched his teeth for a moment, and then fired.
The woman was still struggling in agony on the bed, Chris bit down on his teeth and took two steps forward, fired two shots at the woman’s head, then he turned the muzzle and fired another shot at Gerebov’s head, who had already fallen to the ground.
Jethro said softly, "Fuck! Even though I knew this was the result, I still can’t help feeling a bit pissed, fuck!"
After cursing hatefully, Jethro gestured, "Let’s go, before the news spreads, to the next one."
Yang Yi bent down to check whether Gerebov was really dead. Seeing Yang Yi’s action, Jethro didn’t wait for them but turned and walked out first.
Chris looked somewhat dazed. Yang Yi reached out to feel Gerebov’s pulse and looked at the woman again, then suddenly said, "Why can’t you handle it?"
Chris was startled, then he said in a low voice, "It’s not that I can’t accept it... It’s just killing a woman feels really bad."
Yang Yi shook his head, "Like he just said, no one here is innocent. This woman enjoyed her husband’s dirty money, so it’s only right that she pays the price for it. This is a war between arms dealers, there are no innocents in this war, you need to understand that."
Chris shrugged his shoulders.
Yang Yi said solemnly, "Let’s go."
Rodriguez said with admiration on his face, "This guy’s got guts, he’s a real tough man, isn’t he? Boss, what do you think?"
Yang Yi gave a slight smile and said, "Maybe. All I know is that he had no choice, when death becomes the best option, it’s still really no choice, right?"
Rodriguez retorted, "But he was very calm in the face of death, I couldn’t do that."
"That’s because he knew that a fate worse than death awaited him if he didn’t die... at least... at least Jethro didn’t find and kill his children," Chris said irritably.
Rodriguez asked, "Oh, he had children? How do you know he had kids?"
Chris pointed impatiently at the wall where there was a family portrait, five people, young and old, smiling happily together.
Rodriguez shrugged and said, "Alright, he had kids, you guys have sharp eyes."
Yang Yi said indifferently, "You just need to improve your observational skills."
As they spoke, Yang Yi and the others left the villa. After they came out, Sergei and the other two, who had been keeping watch in the yard without ever entering the house, also quickly got back into the car.
Jethro was already in the car, and after Yang Yi got in, Jethro smiled and said, "I appreciate your meticulousness."
Yang Yi nodded, "Better to be careful, some people who look like they’re as good as dead end up not dying."
Jethro pointed backward and laughed, "He seems to be having a bit of trouble adjusting?"
Of course, Jethro was referring to Chris, who was sitting in another car. Yang Yi sighed, "What we used to do is different from now, we actually never took on this kind of work before."
Jethro looked enlightened and said, "Oh right, that’s how it is. Facing enemies with weapons and facing these defenseless people feels different, no wonder. But he’ll adapt quickly. Boyata, let’s go to the next one."
