Chapter 624: Chapter 632: Super Gunman

Yang Yi and his team finally arrived at the battlefield, though everything had already ended.

Upon arrival, the atmosphere was quite tense. Ferdinand had already established contact with a few people remaining on the battlefield, but when Jethro led Yang Yi forward, the air felt electrified with tension.

Yet, no one argued. There were only two middle-aged men standing still, watching Jethro and his men as if looking at dead bodies, as well as a Ukrainian officer with a face full of impatience.

The air was thick with the smell of gunpowder, and traces of combat were still visible on the ground, especially the dozen or so bodies laid out not far away.

The mood was extremely heavy.

A middle-aged man in tactical gear, carrying no weapon, suddenly turned to leave. After a person beside him whispered something, the man in tactical gear stayed, then spoke in a low voice, "Take the bodies of our brothers and withdraw."

The Ukrainian officer wouldn’t have it. He blocked the man’s path, exclaiming with agitation, "You can’t leave, you must wait for my superior."

Glancing at the officer, then bitterly at Jethro and Ferdinand, the man in tactical gear said softly, "Waste, a bunch of waste, all fucking waste. Why don’t you come back tomorrow morning? What are you doing here now? Get lost!"

Ferdinand was clearly unhappy, but Jethro spoke gravely, "We arrived as fast as we could. We weren’t notified of this battle in advance and weren’t prepared at all, how could we come?"

The man in tactical gear spoke gravely, "It’s over, whatever happened here no longer concerns me."

The man in tactical gear pushed past the officer blocking him and left. When the officer angrily tried to grab him, he was easily shoved aside by the man in tactical gear.

Some Ukrainian soldiers immediately raised their guns, and the man in tactical gear bellowed, "Fire then! You dare to fire? Waste! Waste! All of you, get lost!"

It seemed a man had been driven to madness, and he was from the CIA.

"Go!"

After shouting once more, the man Yang Yi believed to be from the CIA strode away.

The officer didn’t stop him again. Jethro raised an eyebrow and asked the officer, "Hello, can you tell me where those people have fled to?"

Scared to even rush to the battlefield, would Jethro dare to pursue? What a joke.

"Who are you people? I don’t understand what the hell happened tonight, I only know that my men have suffered heavy losses. Tell me your identities, or else I’ll..."

Jethro shook his head and spoke quietly, "Buddy, we all follow orders. Keeping me here won’t do any good, and you can’t hold me anyway. Your superior will also just ask me to leave quickly when he arrives. Listen to me, clean up this place quickly. Don’t you realize this has gotten too big? If you don’t clean up the traces quickly, you’re going to invite trouble, right?"

Jethro pointed to the bodies laid out on the side and said, "Start by taking those bodies away, at least."

Yang Yi looked over and noticed that a significant portion of the bodies had been shot in the head.

A significant portion meant about a quarter, and the rest of the bodies were rarely hit in the limbs; they were all shot in the chest.

Moreover, Yang Yi didn’t see anyone who had been shot twice—there might have been some, but at least all he saw were killed by a single shot.

Yang Yi felt a chill in his heart, and he couldn’t help but turn his head to look at Xiao Ran.

Xiao Ran’s face was not visible, as she was masked in combat readiness, but her body seemed stiff, standing there motionless.

Yang Yi walked up to Jethro and whispered in his ear, "Boss, I would like to take a look."

Jethro nodded lightly, and Yang Yi beckoned his men, walking towards those bodies. He wanted to get a closer look.

Xiao Ran, Paul, Brian, and Anton all followed.

There was a lot that could be learned from the bodies.

Some soldiers tried to stop Yang Yi and the others, but seeing that their commanding officer had not said anything, they did not take any specific action.

The best shooter in Organization of Water was now Paul.

"Fourteen of these bodies were killed instantly by a single shot, nine were shot in the head, five were hit in the heart, and there are seven bodies with chest wounds; they struggled for a while, but no more than three minutes. They died before they could be treated."

After finishing, Paul looked towards Brian and muttered, "Super sniper!"

Brian nodded gently, then he whispered, "We need to figure out the distance."

Just then, Anton said in a low voice, "This is just a part of the bodies. I saw some more bodies a few hundred meters from here. Also, there are signs of mortar shelling on the ground; these soldiers are from Ukraine’s Alpha."

Brian and Paul immediately exchanged glances, then they both looked back at the bodies, unable to utter a word.

Yang Yi turned and walked up to the officer, then he said softly, "We are on the same side. Could you tell me the details of the battle? It’s important to us because we have to pursue those people right away. If you wish to avenge your fallen brothers, please tell me!"

After hesitating for a bit, the officer finally said with a wooden expression, "We came by vehicle. Then someone stopped our vehicle, so we started to disembark and fight, and then, then... the captain was killed, along with several brothers."

"What distance?"

"Around a thousand meters."

Yang Yi fell silent. He didn’t understand what the officer meant before, but now he did, so he couldn’t speak.

After taking a deep breath, Yang Yi continued, "Killed with one shot?"

The question from Yang Yi provoked the officer, whose face turned extremely sour as he nodded and said, "Pretty much, they just all died suddenly. I was in the back and didn’t see clearly."

"And after that?"

"We paid a heavy price, pushing up to less than five hundred meters, and then, you see, there are no wounded here, not all were killed by one shot, but all who were hit died."

Yang Yi wanted to touch his scalp but ended up touching his helmet instead. Then, after a moment of surprise, he whispered, "Casualties... how heavy?"

"Over fifty brothers, United States... they lost about five, I think, and I don’t know about the ones who initiated the attack. Later, we encountered artillery shelling and then the helicopters came. Some people came to rescue them, that’s all. Don’t ask any more, I don’t know where they went, please stop asking."

The officer suddenly began to cry, and Yang Yi said softly, "I’m sorry."

Yang Yi walked back to Brian and the others. Just as he was about to speak, Brian whispered, "I heard."

Yang Yi sighed softly, "Starting at a thousand meters, pushing up to five hundred meters, here, killing over fifty people, at night, this, this..."

Brian’s tone carried no fear, merely stating, "A super sniper. A super sniper we can’t confront head-on. He’s not alone, but we don’t have to confront a team with a super sniper head-on."
