I lavished myself with praise internally, but the expression on my face was still one of extreme pain.

That look of gritting my teeth yet resolutely biting my lip without making a sound, made Yang Yi seem as though he was on the verge of death.

Amidst unbearable pain yet clenching his teeth like a tough guy, his heart was overflowing with joy. Kate was massaging his head, while Xiao Ran had brought a cup of hot water, and together with Kate, they helped him sit up and slowly fed the water into his mouth.

After sipping some water, Yang Yi took a deep breath and then he slowly lay back down.

His head was still resting on Kate’s lap since Yang Yi had pushed the pillow aside earlier.

"Why didn’t I think of this trick sooner?"

With more tenderness than ever before, Xiao Ran holding the water cup, said, "Drink a little more, please, drink just a bit more."

After forcing himself to take a couple more sips, Yang Yi shook his head, appearing extremely feeble, and said, "I’m much better now, you don’t have to worry."

Yang Yi clenched his fists tightly; after all, one has to appear convincingly ill when pretending to be sick.

Xiao Ran set the water cup on the nightstand and glanced at Yang Yi with his eyes tightly closed, then looked at Kate with a face full of concern.

Kate too had a face full of worry, and she exchanged a helpless look with Xiao Ran.

Xiao Ran grabbed Yang Yi’s hand, gently pried it open, and began to massage his arm and palm, whispering, "Let’s still go to the hospital, okay?"

After Yang Yi had "fallen asleep," Kate stopped massaging his head, and Xiao Ran gently released his hands.

Yang Yi’s head was still resting on Kate’s lap, and without moving, she made a gesture to Xiao Ran, who tiptoed over, shook out the quilt, and then gently covered Yang Yi with it.

Having done all this, Xiao Ran did not leave but just sat by the bed and sighed very faintly.

Yang Yi’s breathing was very steady, looking as if he was sound asleep.

In a very low voice, Kate said, "We need to get him to the hospital."

Xiao Ran nodded, speaking in an equally faint voice, "He doesn’t want to, I think he’s afraid to face it."

Yang Yi’s head moved just slightly, so Xiao Ran and Kate immediately dared not speak further.

Yang Yi wasn’t asleep at all; how could he possibly sleep under such circumstances.

Feeling somewhat guilty for worrying everyone, Yang Yi still found satisfaction and joy in his heart, knowing that he was getting out of his predicament and his schemes were greatly advancing.

Perhaps the act was a bit too much.

But Yang Yi just didn’t want to wake up.

Kate and Xiao Ran didn’t dare to speak again, fearing they would wake Yang Yi up, and after a while, the door was slowly pushed open, Tang Guo walked in, she glanced at Yang Yi, then Xiao Ran quickly waved her hand at her.

Kate forced a smile and said, "It’s nothing, I’m fine."

Xiao Ran pursed her lips and said, "Her leg is numb, you really know how to enjoy yourself."

Yang Yi said with an apologetic look, "Sorry,"

Kate immediately said, "It’s okay, it’s nothing."

Yang Yi ran his hands through his hair, looking apologetic and said, "I scared you guys, huh, it’s an old problem, started when I was a child, but it doesn’t happen often, just occasionally when I’m really stressed or overusing my brain. Actually, it’s nothing, just a momentary thing, now I’m fine."

Xiao Ran stood up and said, "I should still go tell everyone."

Yang Yi nodded, then he sighed and said, "I’m completely fine now, oh, the weather’s nice today, let’s go out for a walk to relax, actually going for a walk is even better for relaxing the mind, like shopping or playing around, I’m not tired, just need to completely relax my mind."

Kate didn’t hesitate and said, "Sure, let’s go."
