Chapter 549: Chapter 357: The Sparrow Stalks behind
"Guess who’s coming, is it someone from the Anderson Research Association or sent by Bu Cunzai?"
Yang Yi stowed the binoculars and removed the assault jacket he was wearing, for it hindered his movements and made noise.
Xiao Ran flexed her hands and feet, she took off her assault jacket as well, but as she was taking off her pants, she whispered, "Turn your head, I think it’s Bu Cunzai who sent them."
"I wasn’t looking anyway, Kate, who do you think sent the assassins?"
Kate was wearing only a black t-shirt, tying her hair into a ponytail. Upon hearing Yang Yi’s question, she replied without hesitation, "The Anderson Research Association, I think Bu Cunzai wants to keep Park Ji-yi alive, while the Anderson Research Association definitely wants Park Ji-yi silenced forever."
Yang Yi lifted the binoculars again and said in a low voice, "The courtyard wall looks easy to climb over, but we’re unarmed. If the coming assassins are armed, it could be very dangerous, so we’ll observe in the shadows first before acting, ensuring our own safety first."
Xiao Ran sighed, "It’s a pity we don’t have guns."
Kate, however, looked spirited. She clenched her fists, shook her neck, and whispered, "It’s been a while since I’ve had a fight."
Yang Yi waved his hand gently and said, "Let’s go, be careful not to make any noise."
Moving through the dense vegetation, Yang Yi was the first to head towards the villa where Park Ji-yi was staying.
The three of them made no sound with their footsteps as they approached the villa’s perimeter wall until Yang Yi stopped in a thicket at the edge of the wall.
Kate crouched beside Yang Yi, then whispered in his ear, "What now?"
"Wait."
Wait and see what those assassins would do.
It would be even better if the new arrivals weren’t assassins.
They lay motionless in the bushes, and just then, Anton’s voice came through Yang Yi’s earpiece.
"Four individuals, heading towards the villa on the footpath, seem unarmed at the moment judging by their movements. I’m following behind them, over."
"Sea God received."
It was about three kilometers from the fork in the path to Park Ji-yi’s secret villa. To prevent exposure, the four had left their vehicle early and proceeded on foot in the dark. They’d been walking for some time, so there wasn’t much time left — just a few minutes at most.
Anton was tailing the group of four while Yang Yi and his companions lay in ambush. Compared to Park Ji-yi, who was already cornered, Yang Yi was actually more interested in the four assassins.
In the darkness, nothing could be seen; only the weak red light emitted from the cameras on the wall was visible.
A little while later, Anton’s voice, very faint, said, "Five hundred meters."
Yang Yi stayed still, and after a few more minutes, he suddenly heard a thud.
The sound wasn’t loud but was distinct in the quiet night, followed by the sound of an iron gate opening.
These fellows were audaciously brazen, not even bothering to all jump the wall. Along with the sound of the gate opening, lights suddenly turned on inside the wall, followed by the sound of rapid running and astonished shouts.
"Who’s there!"
"Bang."
Yang Yi waved his hand, and in a low voice said, "Circle to the entrance, go inside."
The sounds of terrified screams, furious shouts, and the breaking of wooden planks rang out in succession, while Yang Yi quickly ran to the gate and then peeked through.
While under surveillance, Yang Yi had gained a rough understanding of the villa. The yard wasn’t very big but was exquisitely designed. Just past the main gate and not far in, there was a rockery. Cars could be parked on either side of the rockery, and behind it lay a traditional bungalow.
The gate was open, but no one was left at the entrance.
Yang Yi ran quickly to the back of the rockery and then peeked inside.
He could see three people. One of them stood empty-handed at the doorway, while the other two could only be seen as flickering figures, and a fourth was out of sight.
Suddenly, the person at the doorway shouted sternly, "Nobody move!"
After the shout, the person at the doorway swiftly moved inside. Yang Yi could only see his profile, but he saw him reach out and grab someone by the neck.
"How daring! Let go of me, what do you want to do!"
Although it was tense, Park Ji-yi’s question was so naive that Yang Yi couldn’t help but want to laugh. To ask such a question at this time, Park Ji-yi surely had a lot of nerve.
The man who had grabbed Park Ji-yi said coldly, "Why ask? Of course, it’s to send you to hell."
"Bastard! Who the hell are you!"
"No need to ask so much. Now, I give you a choice. Here is poison. You can write a letter of repentance and then take the poison. This way, you can still preserve your reputation."
"I won’t write any damn letter. You want to kill me, don’t you? Huh? You want to kill me? Who sent you? Who sent you?"
These assassins played their cards well, forcing Park Ji-yi to write a suicide note, indicating that he committed suicide out of guilt. This way, the matter would end with Park Ji-yi and wouldn’t implicate others.
But the problem was Park Ji-yi didn’t want to write any suicide note.
"Bastards! I won’t commit suicide. Even if you kill me, you’re done for; you’ll be doomed too."
To simply kill Park Ji-yi would indeed be no problem for the assassins, but the effect wouldn’t be as desired. Otherwise, they would have killed him already.
"If you refuse to write a suicide note, you will be tortured to death, and then I will burn down this house. If you write the note, your death won’t be so painful, and you can retain some dignity. What is your choice?"
"I will never write a suicide note!"
"Mmph, aah, mmph, mmph..."
"Stop! Let her go!"
Scattered cries and muffled noises came from inside the house. Yang Yi knew he couldn’t wait any longer; those sounds seemed like someone being forced to swallow poison.
Yang Yi whispered, "Go!"
At his command, Yang Yi burst out from behind the rockery. His steps were swift but silent, and he charged straight toward the person nearest to the doorway.
Two men, one was clamping a woman’s mouth with one hand and just stuffed something into it with the other, while another held the woman’s hands behind her back.
Both Park Ji-yi and his son were sitting on the couch, each with a man holding a dagger against them, preventing them from moving.
That was the scene Yang Yi saw as he burst in.
The man who was feeding the poison to the woman wasn’t very tall, with black hair and single eyelids. His eyes were small, but as he saw Yang Yi rushing in, he simply shifted his body and threw a kick at Yang Yi.
A side kick, not a common move in competitive Taekwondo, but in real combat, this kick is typically aimed at the opponent’s neck. A hit could subdue the enemy, and a severe strike could be lethal.
But the problem was, for Yang Yi, daring to kick high in front of him meant exposing a vital point, which meant Yang Yi had countless ways to crush the opponent however he wished.
