Chapter 547: Chapter 535 Refusal to Watch
As the situation progressed, feelings of sorrow, disappointment, and even anger rapidly spread. And as time passed, with the survival hopes of those trapped on the ship becoming increasingly dim, more and more people began to grow angrier out of despair.
When details of the capsized ship were disclosed on television, especially upon learning that the captain had ordered people to stay in their cabins and not to move while he himself was among the first to abandon ship with a group of crew members, the public’s rage became uncontrollable.
When Yang Yi learned of these details, his anger was likewise impossible to restrain, because he was aware of some insider information that others did not know yet.
Even if pushed to the extreme, if the accident wasn’t a conspiracy, this particular administration of Dahan Country seemed utterly incompetent indeed, even shamefully so.
Watching the news was the most convenient way to keep up with the situation’s developments, so Yang Yi spent nearly the entire night in front of the TV, until the next day when he confirmed that the situation was beyond retrieval.
As Yang Yi sat there with bloodshot eyes watching television, Brian made a call.
"Bu Cunzai is inside the presidential palace; we simply can’t get close, let alone keep him under surveillance," he said.
Brian’s voice also revealed a weariness, but although he and Paul could not continue to monitor Bu Cunzai, they had confirmed something.
It wasn’t so much about confirmation as Yang Yi had already determined that Mei Zheren was directly related to the incident.
Why?
Yang Yi didn’t know why, but he didn’t need to know. Evidence wasn’t necessary, because Yang Yi didn’t need to judge anyone. Whoever he deemed guilty was guilty.
Upon receiving Brian’s call, Yang Yi didn’t say anything, for he didn’t know what to say, and it seemed that saying anything would be pointless.
It was then that Paul took the phone and said in a grave voice, "You know that I am a clergyman. Had it not been for those accidents, I should still be serving as a priest."
Yang Yi replied softly, "Yes, I know."
"This is a desecration; it is the gravest sin. As a clergyman, I cannot stand by and watch this happen. Some people must be punished!"
"Yes, some people must be punished."
After speaking, Yang Yi said in a deep voice, "If you want to do something, keep an eye on Bu Cunzai. We’re going to act, and you all know what to do. Just handle it."
The phone was busy nonstop. Yang Yi had just hung up Brian’s call when Anton immediately called.
Anton had been working alone for a long time. Yang Yi did not know how he had held up, but Anton had never sought help from others.
"Park Ji-yi has left his home. He had to leave, and I will continue to track him."
"Understood. If you’re too tired, let me know, and I will send someone to assist you. In any case, Park Ji-yi cannot get away," replied Yang Yi.
After hanging up, Yang Yi stood up, stretched, and said to Tang Guo, who had also been up all night, "Cover for me a bit longer, I’m going to sleep."
Yang Yi had to sleep because he wouldn’t just be a bystander in what was coming; he was going to take action. Therefore, he needed to be well-rested first.
Snapping his fingers at Xiao Ran and Kate, Yang Yi said in a firm tone, "You two also get some sleep. We’ll rest for a day, and then, let’s get started tonight."
Kate was somewhat nervous, and in a low voice, she asked, "What do you want to do?"
Yang Yi shook his head and replied, "I don’t know, but I have to take action tonight. Whatever it is, I need to get moving, or I’ll go crazy with frustration."
Xiao Ran muttered to herself, "It’s a pity we don’t have any guns. Anyway, let’s go to sleep for now, I’m really too tired."
Yang Yi lay down on the bed, knowing that he needed to rest well and gather his strength to be the hero he intended to be, but as soon as he lay down, he couldn’t fall asleep. Whenever he closed his eyes, all he saw were tragic scenes.
Yang Yi let out a sigh. At that moment, his bedroom door was pushed open again.
Tang Guo burst into Yang Yi’s room with a pair of bloodshot eyes, exclaiming urgently, "The Anderson Research Association has fled! They’ve run away!"
Yang Yi bolted upright in bed and asked with wide eyes, "What did you say?"
Tang Guo said hastily, "The Anderson Research Association has issued a statement. Due to consecutive years of losses, the Anderson Research Association can no longer sustain itself and has just announced bankruptcy. All employees have been dismissed!"
Yang Yi exhaled and nodded, "That’s right, the Anderson Research Association is running away because they don’t want to be implicated by a madman like Park Ji-yi."
Saying so, Yang Yi joined Tang Guo in front of the computer and looked over the statement issued by the Anderson Research Association.
The statement was posted on the homepage of the association. While bankruptcy required some time and necessary procedures to complete, Yang Yi believed that at this moment, the Anderson Research Association no longer had the shadow of the Grey-cloaked People. Since they were withdrawing, the Grey-cloaked People would surely evacuate as quickly as possible.
Tang Guo said with great puzzlement, "I don’t understand, why would the Anderson Research Association dissolve just because something has happened? How could they be implicated?"
Yang Yi replied in a low voice, "Because Park Ji-yi knows some things about the Anderson Research Association, things that we don’t know, things that the outside world doesn’t know, but Park Ji-yi definitely knows, and Bu Cunzai definitely knows as well. If Park Ji-yi gets caught and starts talking about things he shouldn’t, it won’t be so simple for the Grey-cloaked People to extricate themselves. Best to get out while they still haven’t attracted attention."
After finishing his slow explanation, Yang Yi suddenly exclaimed, "Not good!"
"What’s wrong?" Tang Guo asked.
Yang Yi said gravely, "Based on what we now know and analyzing the situation, Park Ji-yi and Bu Cunzai are the kind of teammates who drag you down. If I were the Grey-cloaked People, I would choose to silence them for good. They’d definitely kill to silence them! That’s why Park Ji-yi is in danger."
Tang Guo spoke with hatred, "It’d be better to let the Grey-cloaked People take out that Park Ji-yi! He’s too hateful, doesn’t he deserve to die?"
Yang Yi said solemnly, "Park Ji-yi deserves to die, but not at the hands of the Grey-cloaked People. Perhaps we should protect him, and get some useful information when the Grey-cloaked People make their move."
After finishing, Yang Yi immediately called out loudly, "Xiao Ran, Kate, wake up, we’re leaving right away to meet up with Anton!"
Xiao Ran, who had just lied down, immediately opened her door and loudly declared, "I didn’t even sleep a wink, let’s go now."
Yang Yi shouted to Kate, "Take what you need for makeup; we will do it in the car. Let’s leave now. Tang Guo, you stay here, take some rest if you need it. We will be here for a while yet; this is just the beginning."
Just then, Chris, who had so far seemed rather inconsequential, asked anxiously, "What about me? What should I do?"
Looking at Chris, who had remained inactive and thus well-rested, Yang Yi spoke in a deep voice, "You come along too. Who knows, you might come in handy."
