Chapter 490: Chapter 478: The Stay-at-Home Man

Watching Anton’s carefree demeanor, Yang Yi couldn’t help feeling he should test what the man was capable of, but how should he do that?

Yang Yi got into the same car with Anton and Brian, and though Anton showed no intention of driving, he deliberately took the passenger seat. It wasn’t because the back seat was reserved for the boss, but rather because being in the passenger seat made it inconvenient to make a move on the people in the back.

Having only met a short while ago, it was always best to leave others a bit of safe space.

After driving a distance, Yang Yi suddenly asked, "Are you hungry?"

Anton didn’t hesitate to reply, "Of course, have you ever been to prison?"

"Been there, so shall we go have a meal now?"

Anton immediately nodded and said, "Sure, but it’s quite late already."

"We have food at the place we’re staying."

Anton smiled and said, "I know a place where they make good food, how about you guys join me and give it a try? My treat."

Yang Yi thought for a moment and nodded, "Sure."

Anton gave directions, and Yang Yi drove according to his guidance. They wove through the city of Kyiv, taking more than half an hour to arrive at a community beside the Dnieper River.

It was already midnight, the community was dark, showing no signs of a restaurant.

After parking the car, Yang Yi looked at Anton and said, "There are no restaurants here."

Anton smiled and replied, "I didn’t say we were going to a restaurant, come with me, you won’t be disappointed."

Anton got out of the car and walked into the darkness of the hallway, then stopped in front of a door on the first floor, turned to Yang Yi, and said, "Lend me your wire."

There were no lights in the hallway.

Yang Yi took out two pieces of wire. Even in the darkness, Anton accurately received them from Yang Yi’s hands and opened the door in less than ten seconds.

Yang Yi felt sure Anton must have night vision.

After pushing the door open, Anton reached for a switch on the wall.

The lights came on, revealing a house in front of Yang Yi that had not been inhabited for a long time.

After a quick glance, Anton said with satisfaction, "Not bad, they haven’t discovered it. Please come in."

The house was quite spacious. Anton headed straight for the fridge. After opening it and taking a quick look, he chuckled and said, "Let me see, we can make Spanish chicken and rice."

Zhang Yong entered with three of Alpha’s men. Anton casually said, "Please sit, everyone take a seat. The food will be ready soon. This is one of my homes, feel free to relax."

He took out a bag of frozen chicken from the freezer. There were no vegetables in the refrigerator, but there were various canned vegetables, and then Anton also took out a bag of rice.

After washing his hands at the tap and donning a red apron, Anton began to prepare the dinner.

He thawed the frozen chicken in the microwave and opened the cans of vegetables, ready for use. Anton didn’t appear like someone who had just gotten out of prison at all while he was cooking. He handled everything smoothly and even displayed extremely impressive knife skills.

Quickly, taking only twenty minutes for preparation, after he had put a bag of rice into two large pots, Anton took off his apron and smiled, "Please wait for me, I’m going to take a shower and change clothes."

Anton opened a bedroom door and pulled open the drawer of the nightstand, from which he took out two handguns, followed by more than a dozen magazines and two boxes of ammunition. After placing the guns and ammunition on the bed, he opened the wardrobe and took out a complete set of clothes.

Stripping off all his clothes, Anton walked naked to find a large bag, into which he threw all his dirty laundry, and then he took a towel but did not wrap it around himself; instead, he walked into the bathroom.

The sound of showering then began to be heard, alongside Anton humming a tune.

Ten minutes later, Anton emerged from the bathroom with a towel tied around his waist, then he smiled and said, "Taking a shower feels so great."

After leaving these words in the living room, Anton returned to the bedroom, where he dressed in front of the open door under the watchful eyes of Yang Yi and the others. He tucked one of the handguns under his arm and slipped the other into a holster at his waist.

Yang Yi saw clearly that Anton’s handguns were CZ85s, the improved models of the famous CZ75, with their distinctive features easily identifiable. CZ85s could be operated with either hand, as evidenced by the ambidextrous slide and safety catches, and since Anton had two handguns, it was clear he could shoot with both hands.

Holding a box filled with more than a dozen empty magazines in one hand and two boxes of ammunition in the other, Anton approached Yang Yi.

Yang Yi and his group sat on the couch, which was small, so the men Zhang Yong had brought stood on one side of the couch, just where they were, while Anton placed the magazines and ammunition on the coffee table and then went to get a round stool to place in front of the coffee table.

Sitting on the stool, he opened the ammunition boxes, dumped the bullets onto the coffee table, and began loading them into an empty magazine.

As he methodically filled the magazines with bullets, Anton looked around at the people in the room, then suddenly asked, "Let’s talk, what do you guys do?"

Yang Yi spread his hands and said, "We do anything, right now we’re mercenaries."

Anton laughed, "So, being mercenaries is not your main job, spies? Who do you work for?"

"For ourselves."

Anton turned to look at Brian, nodded, and asked, "CIA?"

Brian said in a deep voice, "Yes."

Anton smiled and said, "If I get close to you, I can smell your stench. It’s too familiar. I’ve killed, let’s see, one, two, three, four, five, six... over a dozen at least. I’ve killed over a dozen CIA agents. I can tell where you come from."

Brian said in a deep voice, "That’s a coincidence."

Interested, Anton asked, "How so?"

Brian shrugged nonchalantly, "I’ve killed over twenty KGB agents. I have a better memory than you—I’ve personally finished off twenty-six."

Anton laughed heartily, "That really is a coincidence."

Pulling out a handgun, he inserted a fully loaded magazine into it. Then, turning with the gun in hand to aim briefly at something to the side, he immediately holstered the weapon back at his waist and picked up a new magazine to start loading bullets.

Anton, as if just remembering, said to the three soldiers standing aside, "Oh, you can use my bathroom to take a shower. There’s no hot water though, might be a bit cold, and I don’t have any spare clothes for you guys to change into."

Anton had always been friendly, never showing any hostility toward anyone. Even though what he had said to Brian a moment ago could hardly be considered peaceful, he was just making a point rather than provoking Brian.

After filling the second magazine and attaching it to the handgun, Anton stood up to check on the two large pots on the stove, then he smiled and said, "It’s starting to smell good. Can you smell it?"
