Chapter 474: Chapter 462 Spend Money to Get It Done
The process of testing the gold took so long that it had become dark outside.
Yang Yi and the others had all returned to the plane, and as soon as they had boarded, Alexander turned to Justin and said, "Now, isn’t it time to give us our share?"
Justin nodded and said, "Oh, of course, of course, fifty percent of thirteen billion two hundred million is, is... wait, let me get my phone."
"It’s six billion six hundred million."
Yang Yi couldn’t help but blurt out the number, but Justin still took out his phone, used the calculator to confirm, and then said, "That’s right, six billion six hundred million. So divided by three is..."
"Two billion two hundred million!"
"Exactly, two billion two hundred million. Okay guys, you’ll have two billion two hundred million US dollars in your accounts, very soon. I’ll make the call now."
Justin was smiling happily, not mentioning at all that he had secured the deal at sixty percent of the market value.
But neither Yang Yi nor Alexander brought it up either; they hadn’t planned on discussing it. They had agreed to divide the amount based on fifty percent of the market value, so Yang Yi and Alexander would divide that amount into three shares and each take their own. If Justin could sell the gold at one hundred percent or even a hundred and twenty percent of the price, that was his own skill, and it had nothing to do with them.
Justin made the call, and very soon, he spoke in a grave tone, "Transfer the money, two billion two hundred million US dollars to each account."
After hanging up the phone, Justin took a long breath and said with a relieved face, "All right gentlemen, you are now billionaires. You might need to wait a bit, but I assure you, by the time you get off the plane, the money will definitely be there."
If the money wasn’t received by the time they got off the plane, someone would have to die.
Yang Yi thought to himself in silence, but of course, there was no need to mention this to Justin. What was more important to him now than the money was the man in the gray clothes.
Yang Yi tugged at Justin, leading him to a spot far away from the others, and then asked in a low voice, "May I ask you a question?"
Justin sized up Yang Yi, then replied softly, "What do you want to ask?"
"The gold has been sold, but I’m still worried. Can we trust the buyer? Is there a chance they might betray us?"
Justin laughed and in a low voice said, "Oh come on, buddy, that’s not what you’re worried about. I’m better known than you, and the Cicero Family is a much bigger target than your Organization of Water. If anyone should worry about betrayal, it would be me."
Yang Yi shook his head, "No, given your background, even if someone found out that you got this batch of gold, they wouldn’t dare do anything to you. But for me, just a leak of the information could be fatal, so isn’t it reasonable for me to be worried?"
Justin chuckled and said in a serious tone, "Speak, what do you want to know?"
"Uh, what’s the identity of the people who bought the gold?"
Yang Yi was out of options; he had wanted to find out the buyer’s identity from Justin, but Justin seemed to have seen right through his true intentions. And no matter whether Justin had realized his true intentions or not, with a single ’no comment,’ Yang Yi was left with no comeback.
Justin stopped smiling, looking at Yang Yi seriously, he said, "You seem very interested in the buyer, why is that?"
Yang Yi spread his hands and said, "No reason, just worried, that’s all."
Justin impatiently responded, "Don’t insult my intelligence. You have an unusual interest in Lloyd. You want to investigate him, but it’s not because you’re worried he will betray you. Both of us know ’Lloyd’ is a fake name, and he’s just a minor character pushed to the forefront. You want to know who the real buyer is, but why? Tell me."
Justin was indeed not an easy person to fool.
Yang Yi fell silent for a moment before he finally said, "Alright, I just wanted to see if it was possible to collaborate with them."
Justin chuckled and said, "No comment. I will definitely not tell you the buyer’s identity, just like I know the buyer wouldn’t disclose our identity, pal. Let me give you some advice, it’s best not to pry into things you shouldn’t know, what good does it do you?"
Yang Yi spread his hands and said, "Forget it, let’s say I never asked."
"However..."
"However, what?"
Justin looked at his fingers and said slowly, "As intelligence traders, we absolutely do not betray our partners, definitely not!"
Yang Yi pondered for a moment.
Not betraying their partners sounded quite ethical, but what did he mean by emphasizing that he was an intelligence trader? Did it mean that if one bought intelligence from a trader, it wouldn’t count as betrayal?
Yang Yizhen was really taken aback, he knew not to expect too much integrity from an intelligence peddler, but Justin’s brazenness in selling out people was truly beyond his tolerance.
"So, if this is a piece of intelligence, how much do you plan to sell it for?"
Justin looked at his fingers and said, "It’s not certain, but this piece of intelligence should be worth at least ten million."
"Oh."
Yang Yi turned and walked away.
"Hey, wait, why are you leaving?"
Yang Yi turned back and said, "No reason, I just don’t want to buy your intelligence because it’s useless to me, so it’s not worth spending ten million US dollars on it. Anyone who can buy up large amounts of gold and offer sixty percent of the market price would be a useful client. We’re both in the intelligence business, you understand the value of such a client, but do you really think this client’s information is worth ten million dollars? What a joke..."
Yang Yi appeared somewhat annoyed and disdainful. Justin stroked his chin and said, "You have a point. How much will you offer then?"
"One hundred thousand. It’s just an intelligence resource accumulated on the side, bought only for its potential future use. As one of the parties involved in this matter, selling out the buyer does me no good, so how could I possibly spend a high price on this piece of intelligence?"
Finishing his statement, Yang Yi smiled proudly and said, "Now I’m wealthy—I have two hundred and twenty million US dollars. Spending a mere hundred thousand to satisfy my curiosity isn’t a big deal, but any more than that would not be worth it, right?"
After reflecting for a moment, Justin said, "Five hundred thousand, for five hundred thousand US dollars, I’ll tell you."
"Don’t even think about it!"
"Two hundred thousand! Two hundred thousand, my final offer. If you refuse, let’s just forget it."
Yang Yi thought for a while and said, "Alright, two hundred thousand, tell me."
Justin lowered his voice and said, "The buyer is the Anderson International Economic Research Association, headquartered in East Asia. It’s a think tank established only seven years ago."
Yang Yi frowned and said, "That’s it?"
"Yes, that’s all. Of course, the Anderson International Economic Research Association is just a front. As for the true patron behind it, I don’t know; no one knows. Oh, I can throw in for free that this research association has been very active in the intelligence market in recent years, they are a big spender, but I don’t know why they have such power in Poland, nor why they are buying up large quantities of gold, and even less who they are working for."
Yang Yi grimaced and said, "If I give you some more money, could you possibly remember anything else?"
Justin sighed with a look of regret and said, "Unfortunately, even if you add more money, I wouldn’t know anything else."
