Spy-x-War Showdown -
Chapter 455 - 443 Separation
Chapter 455: Chapter 443 Separation
Yang Yi planned to leave Ukraine.
To be honest, Yang Yi was scared off by a barrage of mortar fire.
Fear is fear, and there’s no shame in it. The Organization of Water is a spy organization, and Trident is its facade, making Trident’s combat capabilities beyond doubt. However, masquerading as mercenaries to fight is only a means to an end, not the end itself. And in this hellish place of Ukraine, caught in a war between two arms dealers, their battles are not settled by just firing guns.
It turns out that in this godforsaken part of Ukraine, when two arms dealers go to war, they can actually bombard each other with heavy artillery. How can one fight in such a war where shells don’t discriminate? If one were to land near Trident’s men, wouldn’t it wipe everyone out in an instant?
Therefore, Yang Yi was determined to leave Ukraine.
But leaving definitely couldn’t be done with Jethro; sticking too close to him now might be convenient, but it would become inconvenient later. For Trident to leave Ukraine, it was better to use Justin’s route.
Yang Yi made the excuse that he needed to go out and find a suitable place to stay, but in reality, he just wanted to find a place to make a call to Justin. That being said, he had been mixed up with Jethro for some time, and just last night they fought an openly fierce battle. Although they played the role of being slaughtered, it would still be very dangerous if that Andre decided to pursue their defeat and exterminate them completely.
So in the end, it was Yang Yi who came out with Xiao Ran, and also Zhang Yong. All three were from Huaxia, so even if they were spotted, they wouldn’t arouse too much suspicion.
After getting a car, they went out onto the street. Then, Yang Yi made the call to Justin.
"Hey, buddy, we’re about to leave Ukraine, please help us get out of here," Yang Yi said.
Justin was very puzzled and asked, "Why? Why do you want to leave now?"
Yang Yi replied with a wry smile, "Because we have nothing else to do now. Jethro is injured and he is leaving Ukraine, so we have to leave too."
"Hold on, what happened? Jethro is injured, how did he get hurt?"
"Deyo sent someone to replace Jethro. The newcomer is the son of Deyo Marcel. Last night, young Deyo launched an attack on Big Ivan, with heavy casualties. The Turiav Mercenary Corps and Falcon didn’t have a single survivor, not one. We survived because we were positioned at the rear to protect Jethro. So, buddy, we’re leaving. I don’t want to stay in this godforsaken place any longer."
Justin was extremely surprised and said, "The battle broke out last night? Fuck, man, you should have told me earlier! You should have told me before the fight took place; that would have been valuable intelligence!"
"There was no chance; we didn’t get any notice at all. We were just taken to a place and then told to go up and face death. It was young Deyo’s idea. Even Jethro didn’t know in advance, so how could I have passed any intelligence to you?"
Justin let out a sigh and said, "Alright, I got it. So now Jethro has lost his value, right? Then why don’t you continue to work for young Deyo?"
"Young Deyo is an idiot. We don’t want to follow him and lose our lives. So drop that idea. We will never mix with young Deyo, never!"
Justin was silent for a moment, then he sighed and said, "Alright, alright, I’ll arrange to have you guys picked up and brought back, starting with France. But while it’s easy to get into Ukraine now, it’s much harder to leave. All flights out of Ukraine are overbooked; you have to give me two days to arrange something."
"Sure, can you help us find a place to stay, Jethro? After you leave, we can’t exactly bunk with little Deyo, and we can’t stay in a hotel with guns either."
"Got it, I’ll arrange a place for you to stay, but all this isn’t for free, you understand?"
"Understood, as long as your price isn’t too outrageous. Waiting for your news, goodbye."
After hanging up the phone, Yang Yi couldn’t help but feel helpless, "Such a hassle. It’s only been a month and we have to move already. But I wouldn’t want to stay in this dump no matter what, mercenaries using artillery in combat, what a joke!"
Zhang Yong scoffed, "Artillery? You kidding me, it’s just an 82mm mortar. You should see a 152mm howitzer if you want to know what real artillery is."
"No thanks, I’d rather not find out."
Zhang Yong sighed, "In Africa, even if you give those black people artillery, they wouldn’t know how to use it, but it’s different here. God knows what your enemy will use against you. Shells aren’t selective, a stray one could send someone flying. So let’s get out of here, it’s really dangerous."
Yang Yi looked at his watch, "Well, we’re free now. Should we head back? Justin said he’d help us with accommodations."
"Are you stupid? What if Big Ivan’s men attack today? Are you willing to live and die with little Deyo and Jethro? While it’s still quiet, we should get out fast, keep a good distance from them. So, we move today. If we can’t wait for Justin, we can stay at a hotel. Leave the guns in the car with someone on watch, and the rest of us can rest up in the hotel. It’s still safer than staying with Jethro and his folks, or we can disguise ourselves as journalists, big bags and all, and check into a hotel, right? It’s not like hotels inspect your stuff."
"Makes sense, alright then, let’s find a hotel first, and then have everyone stay there."
Following Zhang Yong’s advice, the three of them found a large hotel. Although the price of over four hundred US dollars a night wasn’t cheap, Trident wasn’t short on money now, and with Kiev being dangerous and chaotic, there were hardly any tourists, so Yang Yi easily booked eight rooms.
After returning, Yang Yi went looking for Jethro, intending to move out, since it was only proper to say goodbye.
He knocked on Jethro’s door and then pushed it open, saying to Jethro on the bed, "We are leaving now, right away. I came to let you know. Err, is your security all good?"
Jethro shook his head, "I’m safe here. Since you already found a place to stay, go ahead and leave to prevent any more trouble."
Yang Yi went over to shake Jethro’s hand, "Let’s collaborate again if you get the chance, and when you’re doing your own thing, don’t forget to give a call."
"It’s a deal. If there’s a chance to make money, I’ll be sure to let you know. Goodbye, buddy."
Yang Yi pointed outside and asked, "We don’t have a car, could you sell us two vehicles?"
Jethro smiled faintly, whispering, "Take whichever one you like, I’ll tell little Deyo they are your own cars. Don’t be shy, just consider them a gift from me."
