Chapter 448: Chapter 436 Blocking the News
They had only parted in the morning, yet by noon, they were meeting again, and what’s more, Jethro would be living with Yang Yi and the others.
If Jethro’s relationship with Trident wasn’t so close that they couldn’t bear to part, then there was only one explanation, Deyo’s sending someone over was not just possibly going to trip up Jethro, but instead, it was outright peach picking.
In the early stages of unrest in Ukraine, when Deyo had no advantage and the situation was completely unclear, he sent Jethro over. Now that the situation was settled and Jethro had paved the way, Deyo sent someone new to pick Jethro’s peaches.
It had to be the case; otherwise, Jethro wouldn’t have given up even his place to stay.
Yang Yi seemed very astonished, but his astonishment was whether he should play dumb or not, and then he decided it was better to clear the air.
Some things, as long as you’re not a fool, you could see them clearly. If you pretend not to understand things that are obvious, that’s playing dumb.
Playing dumb is a smart person’s choice, but Yang Yi felt he shouldn’t play the role of a cunning person with deep thoughts, he should show the straightforwardness of a young person.
So after a brief pause, Yang Yi said loudly, "How can this be? Isn’t this just like being kicked to the curb?"
After saying this, Yang Yi appeared to regret it, waved his hand, and stopped talking.
Jethro smiled, then tried to appear calm as he said, "It’s the boss’s decision, there must be his reasons for it."
Boya was indignant on the side and said, "The boss couldn’t wait to let him..."
"Boya!"
Boya was about to reveal who was coming to pick the peaches, but Jethro sharply interrupted Boya’s words, and then as if nothing happened said, "Actually, this is also good, it’s nothing serious. The situation in Ukraine might still develop in some way, so this is fine for now."
I understood, I understood it all.
Jethro was just a leader under Deyo’s command. In fact, he had limited resources. Those who died in battle, namely those who died protecting Jethro, were the only forces he had; he simply didn’t have any more trusted aides to call upon. That’s why he would rather use Trident than have Deyo send people to help him.
Now that the situation in Ukraine was settled, and the new government had taken office, Jethro had essentially lost his usefulness, so someone came to pick peaches.
Yang Yi wasn’t very interested in the internal power struggle within the Deyo Marcel Group, and it was slightly inconvenient for Jethro to live with them.
"You’ve paved the way, and now they kick you to the curb at this stage? How can this be!"
Yang Yi grumbled on behalf of Jethro because he was quite close to Jethro, at least closer than the newcomer who came to pick peaches. Whether standing from a friend’s perspective or in consideration of his former boss’s face, it was right for Yang Yi to feel indignant for Jethro.
Jethro dismissed it with a gesture of his hand and said, "Never mind that, let’s continue playing cards, playing cards."
As Yang Yi dealt the cards, he was still visibly displeased, "Why should we put up with this? If it were us mercenaries, we couldn’t tolerate such a thing. What sort of person is the newcomer? We’ve had a pleasant time with you. If there’s a change of boss, who knows if he’ll use us as cannon fodder? Boss, can you give me a straight answer?"
Yang Yi’s question also related to his own interests, and Jethro hesitated for a moment. He still didn’t want to answer Yang Yi’s question when Brian whispered, "Boss, don’t ask what you shouldn’t."
Hearing Brian’s words, Jethro let out a sigh and said, "Our boss’s son has come, but it doesn’t matter, I haven’t left. I’m still in charge here, so you don’t have to worry about anything. Keep playing cards, continue the game."
The son of Deyo Marcel had arrived, a significant figure to pick the ripe fruits. No wonder Jethro could only obediently stand aside.
The card game continued, and someone brought lunch at noon. After lunch, Yang Yi and the others cleared a room for Jethro; in less than a morning’s time, they were living with Jethro again.
In the afternoon, Jethro received a phone call. Then, he spent some time in the courtyard where he used to live, and when he returned, his expression was extremely ugly.
"Everyone, get ready. We are preparing to strike tonight."
The first thing Jethro did upon returning was to announce that they were going to battle. Yang Yi was stunned and said, "So soon? Are we rushing into battle right after arriving?"
Jethro took a breath, looked at Yang Yi and hesitated for a moment before finally whispering, "Be careful tonight. You follow me, remember, don’t..."
Jethro didn’t finish his sentence; with an annoyed wave of his hand, he said, "Just follow my orders when the time comes."
Yang Yi felt uneasy, but he knew for sure that it was the newcomer who had decided to make a big move, and that they were going to strike tonight.
Trident was fully preparing for combat, taking everything they could and putting on bulletproof vests, then they waited until dark.
When darkness fell, Yang Yi saw the fruit picker.
A very young man, full of arrogance, was followed by more than a dozen fully armed guards. Judging from their gear and movements, these men were all elite.
Having followed Jethro for nearly a month, Yang Yi had not seen members from the other two mercenary groups, but today he saw them all.
More than a hundred people gathered together. Deyo’s son pointed to himself and exclaimed loudly, "You can call me Boss. From today on, I’ll be paying your salaries. Do you want to make a lot of money? No problem, as long as your performance is worth the money I’m paying you, I won’t be stingy, no matter how much it is."
After speaking, Deyo’s son said arrogantly, "Tonight, I want to deal a fatal blow to my opponents, I aim for a victorious capture. The bonus for you is already prepared, it’s just a matter of whether you are qualified to receive it. Alright, let’s move out now."
More than a hundred people were about to drive over forty vehicles, forming a huge convoy, departing grandly from the suburbs of Kyiv to attack the enemy whose location Yang Yi was still unaware of.
Yang Yi, of course, felt something was amiss. Even if the new government had taken office and Big Ivan’s power in Ukraine’s highest echelons had collapsed, it should not be the time for a full-scale offensive yet.
Yang Yi wanted to send a message to Justin, which was that Deyo’s forces were about to launch an attack on Big Ivan, but ultimately, he dismissed the idea.
Big Ivan’s power was still present. If he informed Justin about the impending attack, and Justin sold the information to Big Ivan’s forces, it would give them time and opportunity to set up a trap. Trident would be walking right into it. If a real battle occurred, Big Ivan’s men would not care about the lives of Yang Yi and his group.
So, for the sake of his own life, Yang Yi had to keep the information under wraps.
