Chapter 427: Chapter 415 Interview

"This is the leader of the Trident Mercenary Group."

After pointing at Yang Yi and giving a brief introduction, Justin turned and pointed at a middle-aged man beside him, speaking in a deep voice, "This is Jethro."

Yang Yi nodded slightly at Jethro and said in a serious tone, "Hello, my name is Mike Yang, but you can also call me Robot."

Jethro appeared to be in his forties, a bit overweight, quite tall, wearing a leather jacket, and his pants and shoes were spattered with mud, looking filthy. He didn’t seem like any sort of bigwig, let alone a wealthy person.

After sizing up Yang Yi, Jethro reached out to shake hands with him, shaking it vigorously twice before saying cheerfully, "Hello, Robot!"

Jethro didn’t put on airs as one might have expected, and although he didn’t seem very classy, he still gave off a fairly good impression in his interactions.

"You really are young."

Indeed, Yang Yi was very young, and it was uncertain whether Jethro’s exclamation was out of surprise at Yang Yi’s youth or concern because of it.

Standing to the side, Justin laughed and said, "Yes, Mike is indeed young, but you would surely not know what he has done. Buddy, don’t be deceived by your eyes; this Robot is a tough guy."

Yang Yi didn’t have the rebellious demeanor of a mercenary, nor the kind of brutish toughness that suggested he was always ready to risk his life. However, with Yang Yi silently standing there without speaking or moving, he at least seemed very composed.

Jethro hesitated, taking another look at Yang Yi before speaking to Justin, "What I need is a mercenary group that can really handle tough jobs. Buddy, our opponent this time is no ordinary one. I’m not questioning your credibility, or the strength of the Trident Mercenary Group, I just wonder... is it suitable?"

Justin waved his hand dismissively, saying, "Suitable? Why would I recommend them if they were not? I assure you, on my honor, Trident is the strongest team you can find right now."

Jethro nodded then said gravely, "I trust you. So, please call your brothers in."

Yang Yi placed his hand near his earpiece and spoke softly, "Everyone, come in."

They were in a house that didn’t seem very remarkable from outside but had a spacious interior. There were four or five people with guns standing guard at the entrance, and there had been two others inside. However, they had been ordered by Jethro to leave after Yang Yi and Justin entered.

Lead by Brian, the remaining seven people entered the room and stood before Jethro.

Jethro examined the new arrivals; his expression still showed hesitation, and it increased after he saw Xiao Ran and Kate.

"There are two women; it’s quite rare to have women in a mercenary group..."

Jethro’s voice was low, and Justin spread his hands, saying, "Don’t judge Trident by your experiences, buddy. It doesn’t matter. If you think Trident is unsuitable, they can leave right now. Believe me, those waiting to hire Trident could line up."

Taking a breath, Jethro then laughed, saying, "You know, the business I have in Ukraine is going to be very dangerous and crucial. I need genuinely capable people for help, so I have to be cautious. You said they could earn second-grade commission; I just need to verify that."

Yang Yi finally spoke up, his voice serious, "We are not goods for people to select and criticize. No one can pass judgment on us. It seems Mr. Jethro doubts our capabilities; there is no further need for discussion."

After saying that, Yang Yi nodded slightly to Justin and added, "It’s not that I’m unwilling to help, goodbye."

Justin didn’t try to retain Yang Yi. He simply shrugged his shoulders at Jethro and said, "You don’t know what you’ve just missed, but no problem, I’ll continue looking for a mercenary group that will satisfy you. I’ll take my leave now. See you, buddy."

Immediately, Jethro said, "Wait, everyone, don’t rush. That wasn’t what I meant. Um, how’s your equipment?"

Yang Yi spoke gravely, "This is Kiev; we certainly can’t walk around the streets with guns on us. However, our equipment is right outside in the car, if you’d like to see it, that’s no problem."

Jethro laughed, "One has to be cautious in our line of work. I hope you understand. Please bring your equipment over for me to take a look."

Yang Yi gave a meaningful look to the few people behind him, and Brian and the others promptly went out to bring their equipment inside.

All in large duffel bags, Brian and the others opened them and displayed the weapons and equipment inside. Jethro just glanced at it and expressed his surprise, "Wow, you have some nice gear."

With just a glimpse, Jethro, being Deyo’s subordinate and thus an arms dealer himself, could understand the quality of the equipment immediately.

Giving a thumbs up to Yang Yi, Jethro said with a smile, "Yours is the best equipped mercenary group I’ve seen. The Fearless Mercenary Corps doesn’t even compare to you. Alright, I trust in your extraordinary capabilities. But, these equipments look brand new, huh? They don’t seem to have any signs of use?"

Yang Yi replied seriously, "We’ve just undergone re-equipment. We only use the best."

Jethro nodded quickly, saying, "Very well, it’s settled then. A daily salary of two thousand, with combat bonuses extra. And to apologize for my earlier rudeness, your commission starts today. Would you prefer cash or transfer?"

Yang Yi asked seriously, "How long is the contract period?"

"As long as the situation here hasn’t ended, you’ll always have work. Rest assured, the commission will be adjusted based on your abilities and performance."

After pondering for a moment, Yang Yi shook his head, "Sorry, it would be best to set a time limit. Let’s make it one month. When the time is up, we reserve the right to decide whether to continue this task. Of course, the commission will also need to be renegotiated then."

Jethro considered for a short while, then extended his hand enthusiastically, saying, "That settles it."

Yang Yi and Jethro shook hands, and once his hand was released, Justin said with a smile on the side, "It seems you have reached an agreement, so I’m not needed here anymore."

Jethro quickly said, "Please wait a moment, buddy. Keep looking for me, especially for... um, what I mentioned to you before."

Justin smiled, "Of course, I remember that matter. Don’t worry."

Yang Yi spoke gravely, "Mr. Jethro, now that we’ve officially taken on your employment, what should we do?"

Jethro replied seriously, "There’s no hurry for now. There’s a house nearby that will be your accommodation, and I will provide you with a vehicle. When action is needed, I’ll let you know. Just be prepared."
