Chapter 416: Chapter 404 Two Styles

Alexander arrived, which didn’t have much impact on the training of the Organization of Water.

If there had to be some impact, it was that the Organization of Water gained a hall-of-fame level master to guide their training.

First and foremost, it must be understood that Pandora Squad is not a military force, and never has been.

The vast majority of ordinary people think that anyone with a gun is a soldier, and a group with guns is an army, but in fact, this understanding is incorrect.

For example, Pandora is an operation team affiliated with the CIA but is definitely not part of the military, and Pandora would never take any orders from the Pentagon.

What is the main body of the military, or what is the most important component of the military?

No matter which country’s military, the most important part must be the regular forces, and can only be the regular forces, because they are the foundation of a nation’s armed forces.

Special forces bear the tasks of infiltration, sabotage, reconnaissance, protection, and the like. Special forces within the military, regardless of the branch or type, exist to serve the main body of the army.

Military special forces lean towards field operations, such as battlefield intelligence collection, destruction of enemy command centers, raids behind enemy lines, guiding air strikes, and so on.

Operation teams from intelligence agencies like the CIA also count as special forces. To most ordinary people, there’s no difference between special forces of intelligence agencies and those of the military: they are all just exceptionally capable fighters, but in reality, there are significant differences between the special forces of the military and intelligence agencies.

It’s true that both are formidable, it’s just that the special forces of spy agencies undertake different tasks, assassinations, and intelligence gathering are relatively unique missions for intelligence agencies. They might occasionally engage in anti-terrorism tasks, but their special forces generally don’t handle battlefield intelligence collection or direct laser-guided bombs.

Simply put, military special forces use heavy weapons, while intelligence forces primarily use light weapons. Military special forces mainly operate on outdoor battlefields and undertake assault tasks in urban warfare, while intelligence forces most often combat indoors, and are generally not assigned assault tasks—any such assignments are incidental, not the norm.

So, members of the Organization of Water including Brian and Paul, are not skilled in field operations. If a target of the Organization of Water is protected by a hundred heavily armed soldiers, then the Organization of Water would figure out a way to infiltrate, get close to, and ultimately assassinate to complete the mission.

The Aurora Mercenary Corps are mercenaries, and as former military servicemen, when faced with a target protected by a military force, they would start with gunfire; if that doesn’t work they resort to rocket launchers, and if that fails they turn to artillery; if artillery doesn’t solve the problem, they opt for missiles, and if missiles don’t work, they would go nuclear until the target is eliminated.

The example may be exaggerated, but it illustrates the different approaches of the Organization of Water and Aurora when solving problems, as they are completely different types of teams with different modes of thinking.

There is one Zhang Yong in the Organization of Water who is a mercenary, but Zhang Yong is just one person; his style cannot sway the entire Organization of Water.

There are many tactics for indoor combat that have been summarized into very effective methods. Whether it’s the military, intelligence forces, or police forces, the tactics for indoor warfare are largely similar. So the training of Aurora and Pandora Squad is actually quite alike. They just differ in their choice of weapons, leading to different tactics, but the differences are not substantial.

However, for outdoor operations, the differences are huge.

For example, Aurora places great emphasis on avoiding artillery fire, training how to spot and judge IEDs, how to detect mines and avoid mine damage, and how to evade rocket launcher injuries. They also conduct jungle warfare, mountain warfare, and how to fight on plains.

But for the Organization of Water, their type of missions don’t involve fears of stepping on mines or facing artillery fire, not to mention jungles, deserts, and mountains, places where few people go—why would the Organization of Water even go there?

City streets, office buildings with multiple security measures, homes heavily guarded by bodyguards—these are the places the Organization of Water focuses on studying.

Brian was very willing to let Alexander and Pasanin train the members of the Organization of Water. He thought that a wealth of skills wouldn’t be a burden, and since they had the opportunity to learn field operations from the world’s best mercenary group, it was a fortunate thing for the Organization of Water.

The Organization of Water had never had fire assaults or personnel specialized in assault, but now, Alexander was assigning tasks to the members of the Organization of Water with great interest.

"Zhang Yong can serve as a fire support gunner, Holy Water could also serve as a fire support gunner, but the others..."

To Alexander, the composition of the Organization of Water was highly unbalanced, which made it difficult for him to categorize people according to his own habits.

Alexander looked at Brian, then he finally said, "You could also serve as a fire support gunner, and Rodriquez as well, even though your skills are far from adequate, but I have no other choice. Iron Fist could serve as a fire support gunner, and Chris, you’re a fire support gunner, too."

Alexander then looked at Yang Yi, shook his head, and finally pointed to Xiao Ran, "You’re support personnel, you’re a precision marksman."

After speaking, Alexander exhaled and said, "That’s how it’ll have to be arranged, the disparity in your abilities is too great, if we must turn all of you into a combat unit, then this is the only arrangement possible."

Yang Yi pointed at himself and asked, "What about me?"

"You? Stay outside for support, you can only provide support from outside, because you’re the head of the Organization of Water, I can’t place you in the assault team, so you two just form a sniper team for support."

Having said that, Alexander then pointed at Rodriguez and said, "Divide yourselves into two three-man assault teams, Rodriguez, you’re the point man, with Iron Fist and Chris behind you, Zhang Yong, Paul, and Brian, you’re assault team two. If you’re going to storm that room, move in that formation."

Chris looked at the two beside him, then he said loudly, "Wait, I’ve got a question. Why are we three in front, and those three more capable ones at the back?"

Alexander shrugged and said, "Because the three of you are basically useless, placing you at the back might lead to you accidentally injuring the operatives in front. Putting you in front at least serves the purpose of drawing the enemy’s fire, which creates opportunities for the three behind you. Do you understand?"

The corner of Chris’s mouth twitched, then he said with resignation, "Understood, we’re basically cannon fodder."
