Chapter 322 - 321 Sweet
Chapter 322: Chapter 321 Sweet
Yang Yi felt his heart quiver several times, and for no other reason than the fact that the voice of "White Roar" was just too sweet.
White Roar seemed to be in her early twenties and was quite good-looking, but Yang Yi couldn’t focus on her appearance; his attention was completely captured by her voice.
Some people are born with beauty; others are born with beautiful voices. White Roar’s voice was sweet and coquettish, but not cloying, and naturally alluring, without making one’s skin crawl, only making one go soft all over.
Yang Yi said with a smile to White Roar, "Hello, I’m very glad to meet you."
White Roar glanced at Mike, who had just nodded in greeting, and then curiously said, "You are... spies? Are you Huaxia?
Yang Yi smiled and replied, "Of Chinese heritage."
White Roar became excited and exclaimed loudly, "Me too!"
Just then, Schultz, both happy and confused, said, "Hey, White Roar, your voice is really nice, but why do they call you ’Roar’? It doesn’t match your appearance at all."
White Roar furrowed her brows slightly, pouting a little, and said, "I would rather have an unpleasant voice. This voice of mine is really troublesome."
Yang Yi laughed dryly, "It’s nice though, why would it be a problem?"
White Roar looked at Yang Yi with a helpless expression and said, "Of course you wouldn’t understand my pain."
After saying that, White Roar sighed lightly and whispered, "I can’t even get into a proper argument with anyone..."
For some reason, Yang Yi just wanted to laugh.
Mike cleared his throat twice, then said gravely, "Hello, White... Roar, can we find a quiet place to sit down and talk?"
When Mike called her by the name White Roar, he felt very awkward, and so did she. After a moment of hesitation, she said softly, "You’d better not call me White Roar; it sounds strange. You can call me Candy."
Glancing at Yang Yi, Candy suddenly said in Chinese, "You can call me Tang Guo."
Candy means ’candy,’ and Tang Guo was clearly a name only a Huaxia person would understand.
Her voice was sweet, and so was her name.
Yang Yi couldn’t help but laugh and said, "The name suits you."
Tang Guo gave Yang Yi a resigned smile and said, "But I don’t want to be too sweet. Blame my mom for naming me that."
Mike looked around and then said in a deep voice, "There’s a coffee shop nearby; can we go in and talk?"
The four of them arrived at the coffee shop, and once seated, Tang Guo couldn’t wait to ask, "Are you really spies? And from MI6? The one with 007, is that what it’s called, right?"
Mike cleared his throat and said seriously, "Candy, I want to know what you’re good at."
Schultz said eagerly, "She’s pretty awesome, she’s good at..."
Mike looked at Schultz and said softly, "Please let Candy answer for herself, thank you."
Schultz shrugged his shoulders and fell silent, while Tang Guo said with a hint of helplessness, "Actually, I’m a network architect engineer, that’s what I studied."
Without changing his expression, Mike asked, "And where do you work?"
Tang Guo bit her lip, looking helpless as she said, "I don’t have a job right now. I had one before, but I... I didn’t want to go to work anymore."
Mike nodded and asked, "Can you tell me about your family background? What do your parents do, where do you live, do you have a boyfriend?"
Tang Guo hesitated for a moment, then shook her head and replied, "I’m on my own, living nearby, and I don’t have a boyfriend."
Yang Yi felt something was off since Tang Guo’s answer seemed hesitant; she might not have been telling the truth.
But Mike just asked indifferently, "How old are you this year?"
"27. Why are you asking me these?"
Mike smiled and said, "Just a simple background check, I have no more questions now."
At 27, Tang Guo was actually older than she looked. Like Schultz, she had a baby face.
Tang Guo turned to look at Schultz, who was sitting beside her, and asked, "Are you even fifteen?"
Schultz, looking helpless, replied, "I’m seventeen!"
Tang Guo, with a look of astonishment, exclaimed, "Wow, I’m so much older than you."
After exchanging a few words with Schultz, Tang Guo seemed to suddenly remember why she was here. She turned to Yang Yi and asked, "What do you guys want with me? Do you want me to join you? Which department are you from exactly?"
Tang Guo preferred to speak with the younger and fellow Huaxia-born Yang Yi. So, Yang Yi softly explained, "We’re not from that department, nor do we work for the United Kingdom. We are an independent intelligence organization that works for ourselves. Well, to put it bluntly, we make money by selling information."
Tang Guo blinked a few times, then asked with curiosity, "So, you want to invite me to join, right?"
Yang Yi replied very seriously, "That’s right, but only if you’re suitable."
Tang Guo hesitated for a bit, then with a look of resolve and seriousness, she said, "Do you think I’m up to it?"
Mike interjected at the right moment, "I have a question for you. If I asked you to set up a network intelligence center, could you do it? To what extent could you achieve this?"
Tang Guo’s face lit up with excitement as she asked eagerly, "A network intelligence center? Really? Like the kind that can hack into any server in the world, or the kind with supercomputing capabilities that can perform high-speed calculations on massive amounts of data?"
Mike sternly said, "We need both, setting up would require you and Black Lightning to hack into someone’s email, steal all their emails, then sift through all the emails in a short time to find the information we’re interested in while also monitoring multiple computers. Or maybe have you hack into a place, an airport, for example. Hack into Heathrow Airport’s surveillance system and use facial recognition technology to find someone. Could you do all that?"
Confidently, Tang Guo smiled and said, "It’s impossible for personal computers to perform these tasks. What you’re talking about needs a supercomputer."
Yang Yi asked, "Is it possible to link multiple computers to create a multi-processor supercomputer?"
Tang Guo smiled and replied, "There isn’t any practical multi-processor interconnection technology for personal computers, but it’s not impossible to create your supercomputer using cluster computing."
Mike spoke gravely, "So you’re saying that assembling a supercomputer from commercially available computers is not a problem for you, right?"
"Not exactly. How should I explain it to you? Multi-processor interconnection technology isn’t as simple as just linking personal computers together; it’s complicated."
Mike shook his head and said, "I don’t want to hear technical jargon; I just want to know if you can do it."
Tang Guo nodded and answered, "I can do it because that’s my area of expertise, and I’m very good at it."
